KG Creations – Smile

Hi all!  Happy Saturday!  You know, we all have colors that we don’t use a lot and for me, yellow is one of them.  After seeing the Sunshine on the Daisies mix from Kennedy Grace Creations, that changed.  It is so bright, fun & cheerful!

So I opted to create a fairly quick and easy shaker card.  I used the MFT Transform-ables Smile dies {retired} to create my shaker front {after cutting it with Blueprints 13, of course!}.  The sentiment is from Clearly Sentimental Smile {also retired} and is stamped in VersaFine and embossed.  I have both an acetate front, as well as a Fuse pocket holding the sequin mix.  {This was not for any reason — it was more of a oh, I forgot to create my Fuse pocket first.} This mix has bright yellow sequins, translucent sequins in a few sizes, little yellow stars, translucent flower sequins and beads. I don’t think you could look at it without smiling!   I filled my pocket and adhered it to the back of the window.  I added a piece of polka dotted paper behind it to add a bit more interest.

If you look closely, you’ll see that the i is dotted with a flower sequin from the mix.  Pop on over to the Kennedy Grace Creations store to pick up your mix of Sunshine on the Daisies, along with many other fantabulous sequin mixes!

I Wheelie Like You

Hi all!  Happy Thursday!  My kiddos got gerbils back in November and I had to get the super cute Lawn Fawn set Wheelie Like You.  I colored up two gerbils on Tuesday for The Daily Marker 30 Day coloring challenge.  {If you aren’t familiar with this, check out Kathy’s blog.  It’s a great time — lots of support, no stress!}  My kiddos can be a bit nosey around my craft table and I was trying to keep them a secret.  Of course, my daughter spied them and exclaimed “They look just like Sandy & Smokey!” — then she awaited further details, which I didn’t tell her.  🙂

Sandy Wheelie Like You.jpg

This is Sandy — as you can see, she resembles the color of Sandy, hence her name. She’s my daughter’s gerbil and she really loves her wheel.  We can hear her running in it and she’s quite friendly.  I wanted to create a shaker and make it look like the bedding in her cage.  Both she and Smokey like to move their bedding all over the place, creating tunnels, etc.

And here’s Smokey’s card.  He’s completely black, save for a tiny bit of white under his chin.  Unlike Sandy, he doesn’t use his wheel.  He does like to pile up his bedding, tunnel through and boy, can he zip!  He’s more skittish than Sandy.

Just in case you want to see the real deal, here are Sandy & Smokey.

FTHS Snow Girl Shaker

Hi all!  Happy Wednesday!  I’m back today with a sweet shaker card!  I recently decided to get the We R Memory Keepers Fuse tool.  I had a few tips and tricks for making shaker cards, but I was never 100% thrilled with the amount of foam tape or fun foam needed to get the amount of dimension needed for the shaker.  So I decided to give the Fuse a try and so far, I like it!

Here’s my card today for the mid-week inspiration at From the Heart Stamps.

Love this little sweet Snow Girl image!  Before printing, I added one of the sentiments under her snow pile.  Then, I printed and colored her with Copics, emphasizing a fun pink and green color combo.  Then I embossed a piece of Neenah Solar Crest white with the Swiss Dots embossing folder – this has always been a favorite of mine.  Then I cut a window using Stitched Arch STAX from MFT.  Next up was creating my shaker pocket.  I’m using some old page protectors for my shakers currently and they work great.  I used a square die to create my pocket and then filled it with some micro beads, sequins and glitter (I don’t recommend the glitter; it sticks a bit too much and didn’t move as nicely as I’d hoped.)  I don’t have a video making the pocket, but I do have a video of the completed pocket, however, Blogger wasn’t cooperating with uploading it.  I do have it posted on Instagram, if you’d like to see it.  {@pinkroomtherapy}

Joy – A Completely Flat Shaker!

Hi all!  I recently decided to purchase the We R Memory Keeper’s Fuse Tool.  My rationale was that I could save money in the long run by not purchasing so much foam tape.  I’ve used it a handful of times so far and really like it.  My card today is a completely flat shaker card, which makes me really happy!

I kept this really simple, but boy does it pack a punch!  First, I cut Nightshift Blue with Blueprints 13 {I swear, my cards are naked if I don’t do this first!}  Then I cut it with the Christmas Tree Cutout die — I did have to tape it down with a bit of washi to prevent it from moving.  Next up was to stamp my star at the top — I used Delicata Golden Glitz, but didn’t emboss it.  Then I created my shaker pocket. I’ve been using page protectors, which are working great.  I filled it with some fun sequins, including some that are shaped like old fashioned Christmas lights.

I glued my completed pocket to the back of my Nightshift Blue.  I kept the tree trunk closed off so that the pocket would fit perfectly along the bottom.  I then glued down my panel directly to my card base.  No foam tape – only my double sided tape.  Then I added a bit of joy in gold.  I love that this is a perfectly mailable shaker card without requiring a padded envelope or anything else!
