Happy 40th!

Hi all!  Happy Sunday!  I’m a week post surgery and thankfully, the “you can’t lift your arms above your shoulders” restriction has been lifted.  I’m still rather restricted as to what I can and can’t do, but I feel pretty good and hopefully, will be getting back into the swing of things soon.

Today I finally have my husband’s 40th birthday card/book that I made him.  It’s only taken me two months to get it posted!  Shortly before his birthday, Whimsie Doodles had this hilarious Zombie Lover image — my husband is a HUGE fan of The Walking Dead – so I needed a way to incorporate a zombie into his birthday card.  I did a little shopping in the Whimsie Doodle shop and picked up some other images that allowed me to put together a little accordion fold book.

I had a stash of chipboard that I covered with some designer papers from Echo Park – A Boy’s Life.  I kept the front simple and added in a 40 cut with MFT High Rise Numbers.

I started off with the Super Dad image from Whimsie Doodles — the little tags were just printed on the computer.

Next came the Blogger Boy image — aka computer “geek” — and Mr. Fix It.

Finally was the Zombie Love — those dripping brains are just too much! LOL!

Here’s the book open.

Finally, for his gift, I opted to give him a basket of 40 of his favorite things.  To keep this cost effective,  there were lots of little treats — Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, Almond Joy, beer, gum and some Walking Dead figurines.  He loved it!  His birthday was actually spent at a Mumford & Sons concert in Brooklyn, which was just downright awesome!

TMS185 My Heart Pops for You

Happy Saturday! Wow! It’s been a while since I posted!  Busy, busy, busy around here. I have a bunch of things to share, but haven’t had the time to edit photos or blog.  I finally did one this morning and will share that with you now.  Hopefully, I can get to the rest over the weekend!

I recently did a little shopping in the Whimsie Doodles store — I had been apparently turning a blind eye to all of the cuteness in there!  On my shopping trip, I found this adorable My Heart POPS image and thought it was just too cute to pass up!  I colored her up with a sweet teal dress and red shoes.  Her popcorn has Smooch Illuminate on it to give it a bit of sparkle.  My layout is this week’s Tuesday Morning Sketch — I made a nice square card to accommodate my image — and I did the twist of Lovey Dovey.  I did decorate the inside with a bit of leftover designer paper and some hearts.

Retail Therapy

Good morning! It’s time for another Tuesday Morning Sketch. This week’s sketch is sponsored by Whimsie Doodles. A little side note — Tuesday Morning Sketches will be celebrating its birthday in July and I know Melissa has lots of fun things planned, so make sure to note that on your calendar!

First, here is the sketch for you this week.

Here’s my card using the absolutely adorable Missy’s Therapy image.

When I saw the sketch for this week, I decided to use some My Minds Eye paper from the Quite Contrary collection. Now, I must say, using two different patterns is a tough one for me. I’m still not sure about this one! LOL! Anyway, I colored Missy in some bright pinks & red –making her quite the bright fashionista! The ribbon is from Pink Hedgehog and those little Prima flowers work fabulously at the bottom. I printed out a sentiment “Who needs therapy when you can shop?” and punched it out with the Word Window punch. To mat it, I punched out two additional word windows in pink and red, putting half on each end.
