Sweet 16 of 2016

Hello!  Yes, it’s been a very long time!  I didn’t intend to take such a long absence, but it just kind of happened.  2016 was a big year for many reasons.  My family was finally able to put a plan to move into action and we moved back to my home state of Wisconsin.  It happened rather quick, even after trying to make it a reality for years.  No matter how you slice it, moving is always stressful, crazy and difficult!  We are renting an apartment so that we can take our time to find the right house in the right neighborhood.  I’ve lost my dedicated crafting space, which is a big reason you haven’t seen a lot from me.  {Four humans and a big dog in a 2 bedroom apartment can be interesting, to say the least!}  I can’t promise there will be an uptick in posts coming in 2017, but there just might be.  🙂

Before I get on to the Sweet 16, if you are looking for me and I’m not blogging, you are likely to find me more often on Instagram or my Facebook page for PRT.

Anyway, I wanted to end the year with my Sweet 16 for 2016.  Here we go, in chronological order:

I was thrilled with how this BIG burger turned out!  Coloring can be daunting sometimes!

This is counting as one of the sweet 16!  My kiddos have gerbils and these were little cards from the gerbils to their humans.  Unfortunately, we lost Sandy on Halloween.  Smokey is still with us and my daughter now has Dusty — a gerbil who looks almost the same as Sandy.

FTHS139 Hoppy Birthday take 3

My husband’s birthday card and again, I was thrilled with the coloring.

Sophisticated Script Hello

I absolutely adore the Concord & 9th Sophisticated Script alphabet set.  It is a brilliant concept and I used it a lot — I made over 100 name tags for students in the PTA Art Show with this alpha and they turned out really well.  This was such a super CAS & quick card in some of my favorite colors.

FTHS Knit Happens

Again, coloring and a Birdbrain.  Love the rich & warm colors.

FTHS142 Keep Calm

This was super fun as well!  Homemade enamel dots!

KG April Color Prayers

KG Hello Paris

A pair of watercolor cards for Kennedy Grace Creations.  Love the clean lines of the thoughts and prayers card and love the watercolor background for the Eiffel Tower.

MFTCC44 Ainsley Hello

This is a card of my daughter’s — she pulled it all together on her own and it’s a great card!

KGC Hydrangea Birthday

Purples are not my favorite, but this came out really spot on!

FTHS154 Hot Chick

Flossie the Flamingo {I felt the need to name her!}

FTHS158 Cold One

Love the monochromatic grays!  I finally gave my husband this card in November!

KGC Coral Rose Love tray up top

This was part of the staging of our house to sell it.  I put this little tray in our bedroom, pulling in the colors of the room.  It was quite love-ly.

These were tags for teacher thank you gifts and I love how they turned out.  They popped a punch and were quick & simple!

My niece was married in September and this was my card for the newlyweds.  It was also my entry to the MFT Card Design Superstar contest.

Orange is definitely not a favorite color of mine, but this turned out quite well.  Love the addition of the gold.

So there you have it!  My Sweet 16 of 2016!  I hope 2017 brings you prosperity, health, happiness and lots of crafty time!

HUGS ~~ Cammy

MFT Card Design Superstar

Hi all!  Sorry for the long absence!  Lots of adulting going on and not a lot of crafting!  However, I did carve out a bit of time the other day to create a wedding card for my niece and thought it would be a great way to have a card to enter into the MFT Card Design Superstar contest.

I pulled out a lot of my favorite MFT products to create this card.  I started by cutting a piece of Black Licorice card stock, which I then scored and further cut with Blueprints 16.  Then I cut an additional piece of Black Licorice with little flap die from Blueprints 16. This was then glued down, creating my pocket card.   I then used my MISTI to stamp the Lace Background with Versamark ink and embossed it with clear embossing powder.  To build onto the card, I cut the largest Circle Stitched Frame die with cream card stock, as well as the pieces of the Bride & Groom.

While I had my Lace Background stamp in the MISTI, I also stamped my wedding dress and embossed it as well with clear embossing powder.  I positioned my circle frame to be just above the curve.  The tuxedo and dress were glued down, adding in some rhinestones and pearls for buttons and added bling on the dress.  My sentiment is from Together Forever.  It’s stamped in VersaFine Onyx ink on another piece of cream cut with Blueprints 13.  To add that touch of shine, I embossed that as well with clear embossing powder.  The sentiment is popped up on some dimensionals.

LOVE the subtlety of the embossing on this!

Finally, inside I cut an additional two pieces of cream card stock.  One piece was cut using the large frame from Blueprints 16.  The other was cut with the same frame, as well as the curved piece to match it up with the curve of the black.  The curved piece was then cut with Gift Card Grooves to add my gift card.  The other piece was stamped with another sentiment from Together Forever and it was also embossed with clear embossing powder.

Hope you like the card!  Thanks so much for stopping by today! Hopefully, I’ll be back to a bit more regular posting soon!

Always & Forever

Hi all! Hope you are enjoying a long weekend here in the US.  Today marks the 15 anniversary of my first date with my husband.  It wasn’t a true first date as other people were along, but we mark it as the first.  We saw The Kings of Comedyso not a date movie — and scheduled a second date with an equally bad movie Autumn in New York.  LOL!

So today I’m sharing an anniversary appropriate card.

I think this turned out quite lovely.  I stamped a piece of Vintage Cream {cut with Blueprints 13} with the Lace background stamp from MFT in Grout Gray.  I love the subtlety of it!  I then cut an ampersand from the cream card stock and then stamped Always and Forever in Delicata Gold ink.  I opted to create a little shaker in the ampersand and filled it with some beads and sequins.  Just the right amount of sparkle.

A Pair of Congratulations

Happy Monday!  Hope you had a lovely Mother’s Day weekend!  Ours was quite busy with super heroes (Avengers: Age of Ultron) and lots of flowers {real and fake kind, in a fantastic light display}.

I have a pair of wedding cards to share with you today.  They are slightly different, but I love how they turned out.

First up, is the traditional black tuxedo and white gown.  I used designer papers from Bo Bunny Enchanted for the background.  The “couple” is on a Stitched Circle.  For her gown, which you cannot see and it was impossible to photograph, I cut out numerous swirls {with the swirl die included in the set} from white glitter paper.  Because of the intricate swirls and the glitter, I wasn’t able to get rid of the little bits of Xyron adhesive without ripping the swirls, so I opted to put a vellum overlay over her dress and added in a waistline of pearls.  The sentiment is from Flourishes Taglines.

For my second card, I upped the elegance just a bit more.  It’s a black card base with a mat of Curious Metallic Gold Leaf.  From that mat, I cut Pierced Rectangle and then covered that hole with a piece of Vintage Cream that was stamped with the Romantic Script Background in Brilliance Galaxy Gold.  For the bride’s dress, I cut it from Vintage Cream and then an overlay of ivory lace vellum, which is so pretty and only faintly seeable.  Again, I added in a waistline of gold pearls and along the neckline.  The sentiment is from Jolinne Winter Recital. I added in a pretty double sided bow of gold to finish it off.  LOVE how this turned out!

A Bride & A Groom

Hi all!  I have an elegant wedding card for you today.  When I do my cards for the museum gift shop, they ask not to have holiday specific cards.  In my last batch, I pulled out the Bride & Groom die-namics from MFT and they work great on a nice, big, square card.

I wanted the die-namics to really be the focal point here, so I kept the layout really simple.  The card base is Basic Grey with a mat of black.  The designer paper is from Making Memories Black Tie.   {We all have those packs of 6×6 paper that we absolutely LOVE, are a good number of years old and should have been purchased in duplicate or triplicate.  This is one of them for me!}  I cut the brides dress out of white card stock and then again with a patterned vellum.  The “couple” is matted on a Stitched Circle in Basic Grey.  The bride’s dress is decorated with pearls in the center of each “flower” and a waistband.  The groom’s tux has black rhinestone buttons.

MFTWSC185 May Your Love….

Hi all!  Happy Monday!  A quick post today with a wedding card.  I wanted this to be very simple & elegant, so I pulled out my Bride & Groom die-namics, which worked perfectly for this sketch.

I cut the groom’s suit from Basic Grey and the bride’s dress from white card stock.  I used embossing as a way to amp up the elegance.  When I was looking for something to use for the diagonal strip, I found this rosette ribbon, which worked really well.  The sentiment is from Together Forever and I cut it out with a Stitched Circle.  Finally, I added in lots of pearls on the sentiment, the brides dress and some black pearls for the groom’s buttons.

Kaboodle Doodles #68 — Distressing

Hi all!  Happy Monday!  I’m so hoping for a drier week vs last week.  We have had a very wet spring it seems.  I’m ready for some sun, warm temperatures and warm breezes.

Anywho, today starts a new challenge over at Kaboodle Doodles.  We are sponsored by The Crafty Pad and two images from the store are up for grabs.  Our theme this week is distressing and I’m saying not to follow my example for distressing…

So, I love the way this turned out, but it soooo isn’t distressed!  It’s pseudo vintage with just a slightly darker edge.  LOL!  I was short on time and didn’t think about ripping the paper.  Nice clean lines there. HA!  Anyway, the paper is from DCWV La Creme matstack  and the quote is from Create with TLC (<———really, really worth checking out!).  I added in some roses and pearls (again, more vintage-y items).

If you’d like to play along and can manage to actually add some distressing on your card (unlike me! LOL), upload your NEW project to the Kaboodle Doodles blog with a DIRECT LINK to your blog post.
