Oatmeal Canister Re-Do

Hi all!  Good grief, I cannot seem to get caught up on blogging!  I think part of the problem is it is quite low on my list of things that I want to do or have to do!  So, I’m going to try and keep this short.

Today I have a fun upcycling project.  I took an oatmeal canister and prettied it up to be a headband holder for my daughter.  Here’s your before shot.

And, here’s the after shot — so much more personality and so much prettier!

The canister is too big to use 12×12 papers.  I opted to use 6×6 papers from K & Company Sweet Nectar.  I started by placing one sheet in its entirety and went from there — it allowed for some fun shapes and cuts on the canister.  For the lid, I put another circle of paper on the top and wrapped the edge with ribbon.  Since the inside could be useful for holding some of the other random mess that she has floating around her room, I wanted there to be a “handle” of sorts.  I used a small wooden spool, wrapped it with ribbon and attached it to the lid.  On top of the spool is a pretty silk flower.  My daughter loves it and actually has some of her headbands on it!  Mission accomplished!

Emergency Chocolate Stash

Happy Monday all!  Yes, it is indeed a happy one!  My kids are both in school full days starting today!  Woohoo!  I love them dearly, but they need to be in school.  I can see the change already with just 3 half days in for my son.  They ease the kindergartners in with half days before starting full days.  He is loving it and my daughter is loving 2nd grade. I’m sure the homework will start this week, which should be interesting.  It is going to so weird for me to have almost 7 hours of time to do things and now be running to pick up children! I’m sure I won’t have any difficulty in filling that time!

I have a goal of walking each morning after dropping the kids off at school.  I managed to do so last Thursday and Friday, so I’m off to a good start. However, I still need my chocolate fix, so I have a stash on my desk.

I love the Ruby Chocolate images — I have many of the same sentiments as to chocolate and exercise.  LOL!  I upcycled a glass jar that had course salt in it and filled it with kisses.  It has a cork stopper that I added a “Emergency Chocolate Stash” label to it.  Very quick and simple, but it will fit in nicely on my desk — which if you read my blog regularly, you may see something a bit different.  I hope to have pictures of my new set up this week for you.
