Peace on Earth Angel

Hi all!  Happy Tuesday!  Last week we had a chipmunk IN OUR HOUSE!  I came home from walking with the dog and she bolted to a corner and and Alvin went running across my living room. Now, I do think chipmunks are cute, but not in my house.  After almost 3 hours of trying to get him to exit the building without success, I gave up and went to Panera to color {and de-stress!}.  After picking up my kids, we spent the remaining time at the library.  {I pretty much fled the house until my husband got home.}  We finally managed to get Alvin out the door early that evening.  While I was at the library, I colored up the lovely image on my card today.

Peace on Earth Angel.jpg

I was lucky enough to win a number of Lacy Sunshine images late last year.  There are a number of really lovely angels in the store.  This is the Joy to the World angel.  Now, I’ll admit that these images can be a bit daunting to color.  But, I’m really happy with how this turned out!  I opted to print this a bit larger and make it a true focal point of the card.  I also cut it out prior to coloring it, so that I would be that much closer to getting a card made.  Anywho, I went with a non-traditional Christmas color scheme — partly because I need to refill some red Copics.  😉

Since she is a big image, I only need to embellish her and add a sentiment. I stamped Peace on Earth from Jaded Blossom’s Elegant Holiday Greetings {LOVE this set for the pretty fonts used on the sentiments, plus the big snowflake is just gorgeous!} in VersaFine Onyx Black and embossed it with clear embossing powder.  Then, I went to town with Martha Stewart crystal course glitter.  I love that it looks like the furry, snowy border!  And that was that!

FTHS140 Shake Your Flakes

Hi all!  Happy Monday! Can you believe we are in the last week of the February? 2016 is off to a crazy fast start!

Today I have a card for the new sketch over at From the Heart Stamps.

FTHS140 Shake Your Flakes

Have you seen the new Dancing Snowman set?  It’s so cute — a trio of snowmen all ready to shake their booty flakes!  One is old school with a boom box, another with no musical accompaniment and the third has an iPod.  Of course, Faith has included some great sentiments and I’ve used the “shake your flakes” on the inside panel.  {Of course, I’m singing that in my head to Shake Your Booty!} Anyway, for my card,  I used my standard Blueprints 13 stitched frame and added in some cute papers from Echo Park.  My snowman was cut out with a Stitched Circle STAX die and popped up on dimensionals.  To finish it off, I added some Stickles snow {all of these snowmen has been a great way for me to use up some Stickles stash!}, a bit of Glossy Accents to the iPod screen and some sequins from Tinkerbelle’s Sparkle from Kennedy Grace Creations.

Hope you’ll find the time to play along with us this week!  Remember, you’ll receive a $1.00 credit to the From the Heart Stamps store, just for playing along!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Hope to see you again soon!

MFTWSC267 Adventurous Birthday

Hi all!  Happy Thursday {which is like Friday for our house since the kids are off for a long weekend!}!  I’ve been trying to keep up with the Daily Marker 30 Day coloring challenge and it helped me put together a card for the current MFT Weekly Sketch.

MFTWSC267 Adventure Birthday.jpg

I’d say I was inspired by the colors of the French flag, but in a very muted and more purple-y undertone.  My first piece was created with a Heidi Swapp stencil I picked up on clearance from Michaels.  I created the stripes with Shaded Lilac and Picked Raspberry (I think) Distress Inks on watercolor paper.  The next day I colored up Birdie Brown Adventure is Calling — of course, adventure would be fantastic in Paris!  When the MFT sketch came out yesterday, I knew I could work these in there.  I cut my striped piece with a Pierced Traditional Tag STAX die and cut a panel of Neenah Solar White with Blueprints 13.  I popped up Birdie Brown to the right of the tag and added a Sentiment Strip with Happy Birthday from You’re the Sweetest.  To finish it off, I added in two trios of sequins.

CTD378 Ooh La La…Fabulous

Hi all!  Happy Saturday & Super Bowl weekend!  Today is my husband’s birthday.  He asked to have uninterrupted time to work on the plumbing to our kitchen sink, which is no longer there.  LOL!  We are one week without a kitchen sink and absolutely no counter. Friday nights are pizza night in our house and we usually make homemade.  It’s a tad difficult to roll out pizza dough with no counter. LOL!  The kids and I are watching Grease (the original) and making things in my craft room.  Staying out of his hair!

I have a card today for the current Color Throwdown challenge, paired with the current Freshly Made Sketch.  It features an image from The Greeting Farm that I colored on one of the last The Daily Marker 30 Day challenges.

I was pretty excited to see this work with the current Color Throwdown!  That doesn’t happen often.  She’s colored with Copics and cut out with a Pierced Rectangle STAX die.  Of course, my background panel is cut with Blueprints 13.  I used a Sentiment Strip die to cut two flags, one in Pure Poppy and the other a scrap of pink.  Since the strips were the same size, I cut my red one in half to make it appear larger.  Worked perfectly!  I popped my pink strip over the image.  Both sentiments are from MFT.  {WTG Parisian Girl & Tickled Pink} Both are stamped in VersaFine Onyx ink and embossed with clear embossing powder.

FTHS Blog Hop – A Friendly Little Hello

FtHS-blog-hop-feb

Happy Friday all!  Welcome to the February Blog Hop for From the Heart Stamps!  This month we are featuring the über-adorable snowmen/women/girls/boys/teens that Faith has been drawing.  You’ll see lots of gorgeous snowy projects along the way!

As you hop along, please leave a comment on each blog.  One random commenter will be selected on each blog to win an image of choice from the FTHS store.

If you have arrived from Brenda, you are in the right place.  If not, why don’t you start on the From the Heart Stamps blog so you don’t miss anything.

For my card today, I used the sweet Hello Snowman.

FTHS Feb Blog Hop - Heart Hello2.jpg

Isn’t she cute?  I merged this with some fun Doodlebug Valentine paper, which I thought complimented her hat well.  I kept it all in the pink family!  That sweet sentiment is included in the set, along with some great knitted hearts.  To finish it off, I added in some sequins and some Stickles on her hat.  My Stickles came out a bit more than I liked, but it worked out because those little pom-poms are almost 3D!

Now you should head over to Doni and see what she’s created.

Thanks for hopping along with us today.  The hop will end on Monday, February 8th at 6 AM.  Winners will be posted on the From the Heart Stamps Blog on Wednesday, February 10.

I Wheelie Like You

Hi all!  Happy Thursday!  My kiddos got gerbils back in November and I had to get the super cute Lawn Fawn set Wheelie Like You.  I colored up two gerbils on Tuesday for The Daily Marker 30 Day coloring challenge.  {If you aren’t familiar with this, check out Kathy’s blog.  It’s a great time — lots of support, no stress!}  My kiddos can be a bit nosey around my craft table and I was trying to keep them a secret.  Of course, my daughter spied them and exclaimed “They look just like Sandy & Smokey!” — then she awaited further details, which I didn’t tell her.  🙂

Sandy Wheelie Like You.jpg

This is Sandy — as you can see, she resembles the color of Sandy, hence her name. She’s my daughter’s gerbil and she really loves her wheel.  We can hear her running in it and she’s quite friendly.  I wanted to create a shaker and make it look like the bedding in her cage.  Both she and Smokey like to move their bedding all over the place, creating tunnels, etc.

Smokey Wheelie LIke You

And here’s Smokey’s card.  He’s completely black, save for a tiny bit of white under his chin.  Unlike Sandy, he doesn’t use his wheel.  He does like to pile up his bedding, tunnel through and boy, can he zip!  He’s more skittish than Sandy.

Just in case you want to see the real deal, here are Sandy & Smokey.

Bye Bye Blogger, Hello WordPress

After many years on Blogger, I’ve decided to move my blog over to WordPress.  Within the past few months, I’ve encountered some very bizarre quirks in posting to Blogger.  In addition to that, I was getting the itch for a cleaner blog layout.  So I’m giving this a try!  I’ve {ahem, my husband} imported my posts from Blogger.  There will be some links that need to be changed as they are directing to the Blogger blog, which will likely not be there shortly.  Please bear with me as I get all the little bells & whistles figured out!  Thanks for stopping by!
