Grateful for You

Hi all! When I placed my order with Concord & 9th the other day, I received this sweet Grateful for You stamp with my order.  It makes for more quick and easy cards!

Grateful for You

Isn’t this a sweet floral?  I stamped it in VersaFine Onyx and embossed it with clear embossing powder on watercolor paper.  I then colored the flowers with the latest Color Throwdown combo in mind.  Upon finishing it, I cut it out with a Pierced Rectangle STAX die and added some fun foam for dimension on the back.  I had some really heavy duty navy cardstock from many moons ago in my stash.  There is a faint stripe in the card and it isn’t navy on both sides.   I used the Tuesday Morning Sketch again for this week. I love the simplicity of it.  For the edges, I added little navy pearls — the bottom line went on fine and the top started to come off the adhesive (grr!) or fling all over the place when I tried to use my tweezers (insert eyeroll here!).

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Hope to see you again soon!

You Crushed It

Hi again!  Today I’m back with another card — I’m impressing myself greatly by the streak and roll I’m on HA!  My husband and I are tennis fans and have been watching a lot of the US Open this week.  I’ve been so impressed by the US ladies and Sloane Stephens was phenomenal.  A great comeback story and an incredibly talented, gracious and beautiful young woman {her smile can light up Arthur Ashe!}.

So my coloring today was inspired by her win in the US Open final.

Ala Sloane

I pulled out an old Ala Mode from MFT Stamps, I’ve Met My Match.  I decided to try Kathy Rac’s watercoloring with Distress Inks.   I’ve watercolored with dye inks before, but never really thought to use them on a people image.   I had to blend quite a few colors to get to the tones I wanted, but I’m pretty happy with this.  The sketch is the current Tuesday Morning Sketch sketch (#419).  I added a sentiment from MFT’s Soda Pop set.

TMS185 My Heart Pops for You

Happy Saturday! Wow! It’s been a while since I posted!  Busy, busy, busy around here. I have a bunch of things to share, but haven’t had the time to edit photos or blog.  I finally did one this morning and will share that with you now.  Hopefully, I can get to the rest over the weekend!

I recently did a little shopping in the Whimsie Doodles store — I had been apparently turning a blind eye to all of the cuteness in there!  On my shopping trip, I found this adorable My Heart POPS image and thought it was just too cute to pass up!  I colored her up with a sweet teal dress and red shoes.  Her popcorn has Smooch Illuminate on it to give it a bit of sparkle.  My layout is this week’s Tuesday Morning Sketch — I made a nice square card to accommodate my image — and I did the twist of Lovey Dovey.  I did decorate the inside with a bit of leftover designer paper and some hearts.

I’m Sweet on You!

Hi all!  Happy Saturday!  We are having a bit of a lazy day here in our house.  I’ve now hooked my husband on The West Wing as well, so we’ve been enjoying watching that together.

I matched up my Paper Pretties challenge entry with the current Tuesday Morning Sketch again this week.

When Paper Pretties had a sale around Thanksgiving, I picked up this Life is Sweet set.  There is something about gumball machines that are so cute! I colored this one up in a very traditional manner.  The sketch for Tuesday Morning gave a lot of room for interpretation.  Instead of hexagons, I masked (*gasp — haven’t done that in ages and always need to remember which order I need to do them in!*) a row of gumballs.  The gumball machine is cut out and popped up on dimensionals.  I added in a sweet bow of red polka dotted ribbon and a sentiment from the set.  Perfect for Valentine’s Day or just telling someone you love them!

Sending You Love

Hi all!  Happy Saturday!  I spent the majority of the day in my room crafting.  Now it is time for some football!  So this will be a quick post.

I’ve been wanting to get my Paper Pretties stamps back into a rotation and inked up this sweet fairy today.  I went with a very tradtional Valentine’s color combo and matched it up with Bo Bunny Crush paper.  The challenge at Paper Pretties this week was to use brads.  Those two little red hearts are brads and I was impressed I actually remembered to put them in before glueing my panels together.  LOL!  I had some smaller brads I wanted to use, but the colors clashed.  Dontcha hate when that happens?!   The layout is this week’s Tuesday Morning Sketches sketch and I just expanded it to a square card to allow for the larger image.

Here’s a close up of the image — I used Viva Glitter Liner to add lots of sparkle to her wings.

Pastel Winter Hannah

Hi all!  Happy Sunday!  A real quick post.  I spent a nice chunk of time in my room this morning getting a few design team cards done.  Last week I was lucky enough to win two digis from Claudia & Company with the opening of the new store.  One of my choices was the oh-so-adorable Winter Hannah with Snow Flakes.  She reminds me of Ainsley with her braids.  So I wanted to participate in the first By LORi Designs Challenge, which is a color challenge this week.

Totally my colors!

Isn’t she just a cutie?!  Not only do the braids remind me of Ainsley, this is totally an Ainsley outfit! I had to sneak a bit of the olive in there with her striped tights.  I used the sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches and paired it up with Spring Rain and Innocent Pink, as well as DCWV paper.  I needed some sparkle on there so I added a strip of pink grosgrain and then some blue & green rhinestones on each strip.  Finally a rhinestone on the pink snowflake, some Stickles on her hat and a clear snowflake with a rhinestone center.

PWC115 Swing on By

I’m on a roll! The mojo seems to be working with me this week. It helps receiving new stamps in the mail — my new Paper Pretties arrived on Monday. Finally today, I inked up the new Swing on By Sophia. I just love this image! Since Paper Pretties is sponsoring Tuesday Morning Sketches this week, I decided to use Sophia for this week’s challenge. This week’s challenge is to make a diagonal double pocket card. This also does double duty for the Paper Pretties challenge of summer.

This was a fun card to make. I really like this fold and can see making more of them. Now, due to the size of Sophia, I decided to only make one tag. Sophia is colored with Copics and her dress is paper pieced with the green polka dot designer paper. She’s cut out with the largest Labels 11 nestie. Recently, Pam “The Stamping Addict” shared how she uses stipple brushes instead of sponging inside her Nesties. I picked up a few stipple brushes at Michaels over the weekend and really love this effect. Using Memento Summer Sky and a post-it cut with a wave, I added in a sky. Then using Memento Pear Tart and New Sprout, I added the grass. This is a great way to sub ink for an airbrush system when that isn’t in your budget! 🙂

For the tag, I cut out Select White with the largest label again. Then, using my Fiskars Fingertip Detail Knife (a great use of $5), I cut around the outside of the Nestie on Simply Chartreuse to create a larger Nestie. Some May Arts ribbon I’ve had for years and a fabric brad I’ve also had for years finished off the tag. Really cute!
