HYCCT1327 Thinking of You

Happy Monday all!  I’m back to auto-posting again.  Today I have my card for the Honor Your Elders challenge from HYCCT.  There was a bonus of using gold or vintage.  I made this with my Grandma in mind.  She raised 8 kids and assisted with many of us grandkids and great-grandkids.  She is quite amazing — quite funny and spunky, very stubborn,  and loved by many.

I pulled out this treasure chest image from The Paper Shelter.  After coloring the image, I cut it out with Labels 18 and sponged lightly with Distress Ink Antique Linen to keep the white card stock from clashing with the more vintage-y colors.  On the sides of the trunk, I added Liquid Pearls in Bisque to the knobs.   The hats have glittery bows.  The papers are from Bo Bunny Ambrosia, which were perfect for the vintage feel.  They are matched up with Soft Suede from SU — it’s a color I’ve had for years and never used.  A simple sentiment from PTI Everyday Classics finished it off.

Sweet Baby Moon

Hi all! Happy Monday!  I’ve been enjoying children who are getting along today and the peacefulness that comes with that!  My son’s birthday party was Saturday and I am so glad to have all of that prep and work behind me.  While the kids have been peacefully playing, I took advantage and made up a baby card for my daughter’s teacher, who had a baby girl a few weeks ago.

I had this sweet moon image colored already and since I’ve recently organized all of my 6×6 paper pads, I was able to find what I wanted quite easily.  I used an old Taylored Expressions sketch.  The papers are from Recollections.  The cloud is outlined with Viva Decor Glitter Liner.  A trio of pearls and a nice big pink satin bow with a moon & star charm finish it off.

Guten Tag and Buon Appetito!

Happy Thursday all!  I have to admit that I cannot believe we are approaching the middle of July already!  We are fast approaching our family vacation to Wisconsin to visit family.  I’m so looking forward to it — last year I had just been diagnosed with breast cancer and for most of my family, they didn’t see me during treatment and could only go on what they heard as to how I was doing.  So I’ll be glad to be home and see everyone.  I’m also really glad for the little streak I’ve been on in my craft room.  It is so good to be getting back to a normal pattern lately!

Anywho, speaking of travel, I have two cards featuring The Paper Shelter images, which will take us from Germany to Italy.  LOL!  If only our cards could actually, physically, transport us to a different place.

A fact most people don’t know is that I majored in German in college. It’s hard to believe that it has been twenty years this month since I left for southern Germany and Vienna & Graz Austria during my junior year.  When I was in Germany, I studied at the Goethe Institute in Prien am Chiemsee, about an hour southeast from Munich by train.  Of course, Munich and the state of Bavaria are known for Oktoberfest.  The Cute Bavarian image from TPS reminded me so much of my time there.

I chose to use the colors of the Bavarian flag as my inspiration on this card.  This sweet little girl would fit right in at Oktoberfest with a beer stein in her other hand.  The papers are from Echo Park’s Country Drive.  They couple wonderfully with Cool Caribbean and Blue Raspberry from Gina K.  I didn’t have any embellishments that matched the color scheme, so I colored some white pearls and Candy Dots with a Copic.  The sentiment is one I just printed from Word.

On to Italy — The Trattoria Chef could come and cook at my house any time.  LOL!  I printed papers from the Trattoria Chef paper pack and went with the same layout as my German card, unknowingly.  The apron and chef’s hat were also paper pieced with the deeper red checked paper.  The sentiment is again computer generated.  Inside I added another piece of the checked paper, but left it open at the top — I think this would be a great spot to stick a gift card to a favorite Italian restaurant.

Funky Birthday Cake

Hi there!  I have my mom’s birthday card to share with you.  Her birthday was in March, but I realized I hadn’t shared it here yet.  I used the really fun A Curious Cake image from The Paper Shelter.

I kept this really simple and went with super fun papers from Kaisercraft Bubblegum Hills.  A really big and beautiful bow of aqua ribbon was the perfect touch.

Love in Venice

Hi all! Happy Wednesday! I have the card I made for my husband for our anniversary.  The funny thing was on Saturday I hadn’t made a card yet and he told me I could cheat and buy one.  I really didn’t want to do that so I started going through my stash of colored images.  The Paper Shelter has this adorable Love in Venice image, which I had to have since we took our honeymoon in Venice, Italy.  We had a delayed honeymoon and by the time we went, I was pregnant with our daughter.  Unfortunately, I was extremely sick and have too many memories of getting sick in the Grand Canal.  However, we did manage a gondola ride without me getting sick — I credit eating a lot of gelato with making that happen. LOL!

I wasn’t sure how this was going to come together, but I really like it.  The designer papers are from Authentique Journey — they matched up perfectly with my blues.  However, I couldn’t find any actual blue cardstock to go with these colors.  Too blue, too green, too completely far off.  Basic Black and Kraft paired up really nicely.  I matted my image on a pair of intertwined lacey circle nesties.  A pretty blue bow, sentiment from PTI Mega Mixed Messages and some rhinestones finished it off.

TPS #35 Puppy Love

Good Morning!  First, thank you for all of the sweet comments on Tuesday.  I’m very thankful that my first round of the “less sucky” chemo has proven to be definitely less sucky.  There has been no nausea, which is HUGE and I’ve actually been able to do things.  Second, I’m not only thankful for this as I have 11 more treatments, but also because today is our 7th wedding anniversary.  I’m so happy that we will be able to celebrate — our plans are simple — just going to a local bar to watch the Green Bay Packers game.

Since I’ve had quite a bit of couch time lately, I’ve been trying to color up images as much as possible.  I colored up the cute & sweet Look Where I Found You! image from The Paper Shelter.

My daughter saw this image and immediately started “awwing” over it.  I’m sure she’d love to find a pair of puppies.  I followed the Deconstructed Sketch #23 for my layout and it fits perfectly with the “We Love Animals” challenge over at The Paper Shelter.

Kaboodle Doodles #69 — Show Your Colors

**If you are looking for my Bugaboo Stamps/Catch the Bug ABaC, please scroll down. **
Hi again!  Time for another Kaboodle Doodles challenge this week.  We are sponsored by The Paper Shelter this week. I have to say I have fallen completely head over heels for the images from TPS.  They are wonderfully fun to color (or not — they include a colored image — which is great if you are in a hurry).  Up for grabs is a $10 voucher to the store.
Our theme this week is to Show Your Colors — use the colors of your country’s flag in your project.  This works very well with the US Memorial Day holiday.

For my card, I used the adorable Sophie in the Country.  Of course, I used the colors of the American flag — red, white & blue  I kept things fairly simple, as I wanted to play up the image.  I colored her with Copics, cut her out with Nesties Labels 18 and then sponged grass.  After sponging in the grass, I used a Q-tip to add the sky.  I love how it looks to have clouds.  I added in a satin white bow and some star clusters — I picked these up from Michaels last year on clearance.
