CTD378 Ooh La La…Fabulous

Hi all!  Happy Saturday & Super Bowl weekend!  Today is my husband’s birthday.  He asked to have uninterrupted time to work on the plumbing to our kitchen sink, which is no longer there.  LOL!  We are one week without a kitchen sink and absolutely no counter. Friday nights are pizza night in our house and we usually make homemade.  It’s a tad difficult to roll out pizza dough with no counter. LOL!  The kids and I are watching Grease (the original) and making things in my craft room.  Staying out of his hair!

I have a card today for the current Color Throwdown challenge, paired with the current Freshly Made Sketch.  It features an image from The Greeting Farm that I colored on one of the last The Daily Marker 30 Day challenges.

I was pretty excited to see this work with the current Color Throwdown!  That doesn’t happen often.  She’s colored with Copics and cut out with a Pierced Rectangle STAX die.  Of course, my background panel is cut with Blueprints 13.  I used a Sentiment Strip die to cut two flags, one in Pure Poppy and the other a scrap of pink.  Since the strips were the same size, I cut my red one in half to make it appear larger.  Worked perfectly!  I popped my pink strip over the image.  Both sentiments are from MFT.  {WTG Parisian Girl & Tickled Pink} Both are stamped in VersaFine Onyx ink and embossed with clear embossing powder.

HYCCT1323 Make a Wish

Hi all!  Happy Monday!  I’m so excited that I finished all of my HYCCT challenge cards between yesterday and today!  Not so exciting was when my internet crashed, unbeknownst to me, when I was in the middle of uploading 17 cards to SCS.  UGH!  I had 10 go through and 7 didn’t, so I’m doing that now.

Today  I have my card for the “Impossible Things Happen” — a card inspired by a  fairy tale.

I knew the perfect image for this challenge — The Greeting Farm Princess Ava Twinkle Tot.  I stamped her and colored her up with Copics.  The layout is this week’s Sweet Sketch challenge, which was really fun. I loved adding in sparkle with the white ribbon.  Ava has a little rhinestone tiara to finish things off.

Hey Ghoulfriend!

Good Morning!  I’m so happy for scheduled posts as I’m recovering from round two of the less sucky chemo today.  Although I’m very relieved to not deal with nausea, the muscle & joint aches and pains lingered all the way through till Tuesday.  It really makes getting around a bit tougher.  Ten more to go and maybe with any luck, the pains will subside, lessen or end sooner.  I can hope!!

Today the Bugaboo Stamps design team is swapping with The Greeting Farm and participating in their challenge.  We are CASE’ing this card.

My image choice was Halloween Bride so the colors on this card worked perfectly.  I kept most of the aspects of the sketch.

This turned out ghoulishly cute!  I paired Simply Chartreuse and Basic Black together with some fun Halloween papers from Recollections.  The streaks in her hair work perfectly, I think.  The sentiment is from There She Goes’ HSH Halloween Additions.

My Favorites of 2010 – January, February, March

Hey all!  Since I probably won’t have much new to share with you this week, I thought I’d share my favorites of 2010.  Today I have January, February and March.

January — You Have to Kiss a Frog…

I loved the Green Galore and Bermuda Bay together and the book look with this image.  It turned out sweet.

FebruaryPenguin Love

This little guy with his pearl snowballs is just too cute!

MarchGive it a Twirl!

This turned out perfectly! Plus, it was picked as Card of the Week for the Our Creative Corner challenge that week.  I also have a friend who adores this card and has made me promise I will never give this card away. Unless it is to her!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I’ll be back tomorrow with April, May and June!

Absolutely Fabulous Madelynn

We have an absolutely beautiful weekend here weather wise. This is a sure sign of how strange weather can be this time of year. Last week we had 16″ of snow on the ground and today it is sunny, 50° and most of the snow has melted. I am actually entering my usual “I’m ready for spring” phase of the winter. Good thing it is just around the corner!

This week’s DCRU challenge #28 was a sketch challenge. I was happy to be able to play along today.

I inked up my favorite Twinkle Tot Madelynn and paired her with a really pretty color combo of Blush Blossom, Spring Rain, Very Vanilla and designer paper from the My Minds Eye Be Loved line. Madelynn is colored with Copics and cut out with Nesties. Her mat is the largest Blossom Nestie. I used my Fiskars Threading Water punch to create the border, but then filled the holes with small Kaisercraft pearls. My favorite part is the little bouquet of Prima flowers. I tied them around a strip of Berry Sorbet Saddle Stitch ribbon. The sentiment “Absolutely Fabulous” is from the Mega Mixed Messages set and is punched out with the Modern Tag punch. I think this suits Madelynn perfectly!

Tuesday Morning Sketch ala Madelynn

**If you are looking for my DCRU Showcase post, please scroll down.**

I really liked the Tuesday Morning Sketch this past week and wanted to play along, so I pulled out Madelynn from The Greeting Farm’s Twinkle Tot line. First, here is the sketch:

Second, here’s my card:

Of course, I stamped Madelynn in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored her with Copics. I had decided to use some fun paper from the DCWV Latte matstack, which I paired with Lavender Lace and Gable Green. I wasn’t sure about these colors together, but I really like how it turned out. I added just a bit of Iced Lavender Shimmerz to her flower and eye shadow. Madelynn is just so cute – love her coyness and touch of attitude.

The Gable Green under Madelynn is embossed with Swiss Dots. I had some May Arts satin ribbon that matched perfectly, which I added with my favorite bow and my new favorite embellishment — the Prima Flowers. Three little Basic Grey half pearls in Grass/Ivy complete the card in the upper right corner.

Sugar Rush Stella

Happy Super Bowl Sunday! Are you doing anything for the big game? We are just hanging around the house, making some munchies and watching the game. I’m not real enthused about it since neither of my NFC team choices are in it, but I will root for the Saints.

The Greeting Farm images are growing on me – big surprise, right! All it took was opening the door a little bit for those Twinkle Tots. I’ll repeat what I said when I first inked up Madelynn, I love the crispness of the image. These are really high quality red rubber stamps.

The Die Cuts R Us Design Team challenge #24 this week was to use the colors found in the Basic Grey Sugar Rush button pack. I don’t have the buttons, but I do have the paper.

When I flipped through my paper pack, I fell in love with this doodled yellow paper. It works really well with PaperTrey Ink’s Lemon Tart and Summer Sunrise, which is one of my favorite color combos from PTI. I chose The Greeting Farm’s Stella (out of stock @ DCRU) for my image — isn’t she a cutie! She is, of course, colored with Copics.

For my layout, I followed the Our Creative Corner sketch for this week. The sketch worked perfectly with this image and highlighting the paper. I tied a pretty bow of Summer Sunrise ribbon and added a Basic Grey button to the center.
