A Rose to Thank You

Hi all!  It’s no April Fool’s joke, I’m actually posting today!  My BIG PTA project, the Art Gallery was last Friday and I’m recovering.  LOL!  It was a great success.  I had 169 pieces of artwork submitted  — we limit it to one piece per child and we were darn near close to capacity for space in the gym.  We had a really good turnout and the kids had a blast seeing their artwork on display.  My body wasn’t all that thrilled with me by the end of the night — I missed dinner because of set-up and by the time I sat down in the car to go home, my body started to complain very loudly.  LOL!

I had a great group of helpers for the set-up, the show and clean-up.  I wanted to get a thank you out to each of them because they really helped make it a success.  Last year’s show was a success, but the set-up was extraordinarily difficult and I was beyond stressed.  We made a few changes this year and it went off without a hitch.  (Unless you count being postponed a week due to a Mother Nature snow fit on the first day of Spring!)

To create my thank you’s, I pulled out my new Altenew Vintage Roses, their accompanying dies and my MISTI.  I’m in love with all three!

Love how this turned out!  First, I cut out all of the large roses, small roses, large leaf branch and small pair of leaves from Stampers Select white card stock.  I decided on my colors by trial and error.  I wasn’t sure what would look good and what worked with my ink choices.  My roses are MFT Pink Lemonade (dye), A*Muse Berry and MFT Wild Cherry (dye).  The leaves are MFT Gumdrop Green (large bunch) and the small ones are Memento New Sprout and then Gumdrop Green.

To make sure that I got everything in the right place, I lined up my die cut negative on the MISTI and placed in the die cut.  I then put my stamp on the die cut and closed the lid.  I’m amazed at how I was able to create 16 of these cards without a single mess up!  The system works beautifully!

The sentiment is from MFT Let’s Toast and I added just a trio of small pearls to add a bit more.

Thank You…..MISTI

Hi all!  Today I have the card that came to be with my first use of my MISTI.  The stamp is from Mama Elephant’s Filigree set.  I LOVE this stamp — it’s so beautiful, but I have an awful time with it. I never get a fully stamped, clean image with it.  I think it’s in part to my lack of arm strength due to surgeries, which was one of the big reasons I went for the MISTI.

On Friday,  I inked it up with Lemon Drop ink from MFT and gave it a go with my MISTI.  The first pass did get me about 90% stamped.  I did it a second time and got the final portion to stamp.  If it wasn’t for my MISTI, I would have been chucking some more card stock in the recycling.

Because this is such a detailed and gorgeous image, I kept the card very CAS.  I stamped the inside with one of the small sentiments from the set.  I added some gold sequins and voila!  I think this would be a gorgeous card set, in a variety of colors, all featuring this beautiful doily and the simple sentiments from the set.  Guess I know what my next project is going to be!

Merci Beaucoup

Happy Monday!  Last week I had an impromptu stamping day with my friend Michele.  I wasn’t sure if I could squeeze it in with Art Gallery prep, but I was so happy that I did, in fact, squeeze it in.  The second of the cards I made is below.  I’ve long had the Avery Elle Bonjour set and coordinating dies on my wish list.  I played with it on Wednesday at my friend’s and have since ordered my own set.

Unbeknownst to me, Friday was National Macaroon Day.  I wish I had known because I would have put this up then! {I also would have insisted on stopping at the Macaroon store in the mall!! Yup, there is actually a store dedicated to macaroons and coffee.}

Again, I went very CAS with this card.  I cut out two macaroons and stamped them with Blu Raspberry ink from MFT.  I double stamped the one to give it a deeper color than the other.  My panel is cut with a Mama Elephant die.  I simply adhered the macaroons (one on dimensionals) and stamped the sentiment.  Some clear sequins finished it off.

MFTWSC202 Thanks a Latte

Happy Monday!  It’s a gross, rainy and cold one here. YUCK!

I made up my MFTWSC card yesterday and opted to go with a 3×4 gift card holder.  Currently, everything I’m making is going into the craft fair stash, so it’s going to be Christmas, Hanukkah and Holiday Greetings from here on out.

I purchased the Perk Up set and the Coffee Cup die-namics last month.  My husband is a coffee junkie and has turned me into one to a degree as well.  Although, he would have an IV of coffee, if he could.  I made up my cup like the Starbucks red holiday cups.  The sentiment is stamped on a Pierced Fishtail Flags STAX and the additional strip above is the smallest flag, cut twice to create the double fishtail ends.  Inside is an additional embossed panel with the slits for the gift card.

I created an envelope to go along with the gift card using my envelope punch board.

MFTWSC194 Backing Me Up

Happy Wednesday all!  If you are an MFT fan, you know they just released new fabulousness last night.  What you may not know is that they have a release party on SCS each month.  This month they changed things around a bit and started chatting ahead of time.  Luckily, Jody gave everyone chatting an early viewing of this week’s MFTWSC sketch challenge.  I was lucky enough to see it and get a very early jump on this week’s card!

I know I’ve said it before, but I LOVE how this turned out!  First, I opted to make a square card and to change up the tag with the computer from Office Space.  My background papers are made with background stamps.  Typewriter Text for the main panel and Pinstripe for the small piece.  I turned the paper on an angle to get a diagonal feel instead of a pinstripe.  My monitor is embossed in black.  To create the flags, which I was thinking of those little Post-It note flags, I used a mini pennant die to cut them out.

PTI SAF 2014 – Challenge #4 Wax Seals

Let me share with you my go to when I’m stumped — I shrink the card size!  For the wax seal, we also had mixed results with the stamps & wax.  We had a lot of giggles with trying to accomplish this!  I did my seal with the SAF kit and then put it on a small 3×3 gold card.

PTI SAF 2014 – Challenge #3 Velvet Stamping

This challenge was definitely a challenge! We didn’t have luck with the technique Nichole used – ironing the velvet and stamp.  So we opted to stamp our velvet in gold and heat emboss.  The result was quite pretty — you will also see some similar results from Merry & Michele.  We often CASE’d what the other was doing.
