Sweet 16 of 2016

Hello!  Yes, it’s been a very long time!  I didn’t intend to take such a long absence, but it just kind of happened.  2016 was a big year for many reasons.  My family was finally able to put a plan to move into action and we moved back to my home state of Wisconsin.  It happened rather quick, even after trying to make it a reality for years.  No matter how you slice it, moving is always stressful, crazy and difficult!  We are renting an apartment so that we can take our time to find the right house in the right neighborhood.  I’ve lost my dedicated crafting space, which is a big reason you haven’t seen a lot from me.  {Four humans and a big dog in a 2 bedroom apartment can be interesting, to say the least!}  I can’t promise there will be an uptick in posts coming in 2017, but there just might be.  🙂

Before I get on to the Sweet 16, if you are looking for me and I’m not blogging, you are likely to find me more often on Instagram or my Facebook page for PRT.

Anyway, I wanted to end the year with my Sweet 16 for 2016.  Here we go, in chronological order:

JANUARY

fths-136-big-burger

I was thrilled with how this BIG burger turned out!  Coloring can be daunting sometimes!

FEBRUARY

This is counting as one of the sweet 16!  My kiddos have gerbils and these were little cards from the gerbils to their humans.  Unfortunately, we lost Sandy on Halloween.  Smokey is still with us and my daughter now has Dusty — a gerbil who looks almost the same as Sandy.

FTHS139 Hoppy Birthday take 3

My husband’s birthday card and again, I was thrilled with the coloring.

Sophisticated Script Hello

I absolutely adore the Concord & 9th Sophisticated Script alphabet set.  It is a brilliant concept and I used it a lot — I made over 100 name tags for students in the PTA Art Show with this alpha and they turned out really well.  This was such a super CAS & quick card in some of my favorite colors.

MARCH

FTHS Knit Happens

Again, coloring and a Birdbrain.  Love the rich & warm colors.

FTHS142 Keep Calm

This was super fun as well!  Homemade enamel dots!

APRIL

KG April Color Prayers

KG Hello Paris

A pair of watercolor cards for Kennedy Grace Creations.  Love the clean lines of the thoughts and prayers card and love the watercolor background for the Eiffel Tower.

MAY

MFTCC44 Ainsley Hello

This is a card of my daughter’s — she pulled it all together on her own and it’s a great card!

KGC Hydrangea Birthday

Purples are not my favorite, but this came out really spot on!

JUNE

FTHS154 Hot Chick

Flossie the Flamingo {I felt the need to name her!}

FTHS158 Cold One

Love the monochromatic grays!  I finally gave my husband this card in November!

JULY

KGC Coral Rose Love tray up top

This was part of the staging of our house to sell it.  I put this little tray in our bedroom, pulling in the colors of the room.  It was quite love-ly.

SEPTEMBER

These were tags for teacher thank you gifts and I love how they turned out.  They popped a punch and were quick & simple!

am-wedding-side-flat

My niece was married in September and this was my card for the newlyweds.  It was also my entry to the MFT Card Design Superstar contest.

orange-gold-roses

Orange is definitely not a favorite color of mine, but this turned out quite well.  Love the addition of the gold.

So there you have it!  My Sweet 16 of 2016!  I hope 2017 brings you prosperity, health, happiness and lots of crafty time!

KGC Thanks a Bunch

Hi all! Hope you are enjoying your Labor Day weekend!  I’m here and on the Kennedy Grace Creations blog today with a project I did back in JUNE!  *GASP!*  These were actually the thank you gifts for my kids’ teachers, the school nurse and my daughter’s aide.  Because we had four gifts to purchase, I had to keep it small and the grocery store florist came through big time.  They had these great little orchids for $5.  I picked out four, made up sweet tags for each gift bag and they were done!KGC Purple Orchid Tag

This was my favorite of the four tags.  I love the richness of the colors and it matched the orchid so well.  I used my MFT die-namics again to create the tags.  I stamped one of the floral images from Grace’s Happy Heart in VersaMark and embossed with white embossing powder on each tag.  Then I used a variety of Distress Inks and other dye inks to blend each tag.  Finally, I stamped the sentiment from Grace’s Little Note in VersaFine Onyx and embossed that with clear embossing powder.

Simple, but packing that big punch of WOW!  Here are the other three tags I created.

Big Thanks Penguin

Hi all! Happy Wednesday!  My kids are counting down the days of school left — 1.5 after today.  They both really like school, so they are torn about being done with school.  I know my son doesn’t want to leave his teacher.  He’s had a fantastic year and they both share a love of math.

My card today is for her.  I am the class parent and did the class gift collection.  I wanted to give her a special card to go with it.

I created a money holder card using the fabulous Penguins in Paradise from MFT.  I wanted it to have a tropical feel and used Turquoise Sea and Sweet Mango from Gina K.  I sponged a piece of Neenah Solar White with Amuse Sky and Mama Elephant Ocean inks.  For the sand, I hand cut a piece of Kraft {I couldn’t locate my Snow Drift dies.}. I then cut out the palm trees, beach balls, penguin, clouds and sun using die-namics.  I colored up everything and started to glue things down.  To soften the edge of the sand a bit, I added a bit of Stickles.  The sun and clouds were added and then everything else was popped up on to dimensionals.  The sentiment is from Birdie Brown You’re Super.

I added some Glossy Accents to the penguins inner tube and some coconuts to each palm tree (long forgotten Dew Drops!).

Finally, inside I added another penguin and a sentiment.  LOVE how this turned out!

MIM #209 Planted…

Hi all!  Happy Sunday!  I have a rare PTI card to share with you and a first for participating in their Make It Monday challenges.  I’m trying to make up a bunch of teacher appreciation cards to sell and of course, I’m behind on things.  I thought this week’s challenge was quite cute and it worked well with some of their recently released teacher themed products.

So the challenge this week was to use white on white die cuts with a pop of color.  The Seeds of Knowledge set they released had some sweet sentiments and images, although not my typical style.  The watering can worked well with this technique.

I cut my watering can out three times and one water flourish.  I stamped the can only once in MFT Banana Split and the water in Blu Raspberry.  I glued two of the cans down to a piece of Neenah Solar White cut with Blueprints 13.  I then stamped a sentiment from the Teacher’s Apple set, highlighting teacher in Blu Raspberry.  I then popped up my watering can on dimensional and put it in the middle.  This makes for a really pretty CAS card!
