Are you ready for some football?

Hi all!  Happy Monday!  I have a card my daughter {10 yr old} made on Saturday for World Card Making Day.  Our weather was pretty rotten, so we spent much of the day in my craft room.  She was pretty excited to have the mommy/daughter time and to get to use my Copics and dies.

Save for a few pointers, she designed this all on her own.  She pulled out an old SUINK stamp set and used my MISTI to line up her football player and cheerleader.  She stamped them on a panel of white card stock cut with Blueprints 13.  Of course, she chose green & gold (aka Green Bay Packers colors) to color their uniforms.  {Side note: This is the same child who whooped everyone in our family fantasy football league and when I (the big fan in our household) asked her to watch the game, she responded that she doesn’t do football because it is boring!  Then, last week, she was able to meet a player from the New York Giants and a former player from the Atlanta Falcons who now writes children’s books at school for an NFL Play60/Read 20 event and she is a big fan now! LOL}  She added in grass cut with an MFT die-namic, popped up her fussy cut football and the sentiment.  It’s so cute!

Will You Be My Valentine Easel

I’ve been really enjoying Valentine colors, especially Raspberry Fizz. This card works perfectly for the Crazy 4 Challenges Pretty in Pink challenge this week. I also wanted to play around with the DCRU sketch one more time and decided to make an easel card. These are such fun cards and so easy! For this easel, I did a standard card size. My card base was 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, with scores at 4 1/4 and 6 3/8.

I chose the really adorable “Will You Be My Valentine?” set from SUINK. They started selling off their stamp set stock late last year. As of this morning, as I type this, this set is still in stock. You can get the ridiculous bargain of 23 stamps for $3.00!! Go here! I stamped the boy and girl (individual stamps) facing each other, ready to present their valentines to each other. The young man is clearly secure, as he is wearing a pink shirt and bright pink bow tie! 🙂 The young lady’s dress collar and trim are Petal Pink Liquid Pearls.

Using my heart Nestabilities, I cut out the smallest scallop and regular heart in Raspberry Fizz and Pretty in Pink. I mounted them on a piece of May Arts double pink ribbon and ultimately on a panel of Pretty in Pink embossed with my favorite Swiss Dots. The hearts remind me of one of those decorative wall hangings. To finish off the ribbon, I added a pretty little bow at the very top. Three little heart brads complete the front panel.

Inside, I used an additional 3 small hearts as the easel for the card. I stamped along the bottom with the XOXO stamp from the set in Raspberry Fizz.

Are You Ready For Some Football?

Do you have any football fans in your house? I’m a born & raised Wisconsin girl, so football runs in my DNA. Specifically Green Bay Packers football and today is probably one of the biggest games of the season. Today is the Minnesota Viking/ Green Bay Packers game at Lambeau Field in Green Bay. Packers/Vikings games are always big, but today is even bigger. Our (Green Bay) “sure to be Hall of Famer” ex-quarterback returns home with one of our biggest rivals. To keep from getting on my soapbox, I will just say that I am a Favre fan, a Packers fan and not a Thompson/McCarthy fan.

In honor of the game today, I inked up my new SUINK First & Goal set (no longer available, sorry). Maybe this can bring some Packers magic today (or Majik for any Packers fans out there).

Handsome Hunter and Summer Sun are the perfect Green Bay colors. I stamped my QB and goal posts on Select White and colored them in with Copics. I then used the largest Labels 1 die to cut and emboss it. Before removing the die, I lightly sponged over the top with Antique Linen Distress Ink — I love the effect from this. Using my Le Pen, I wrote in Packers on the goal post padding.

I embossed my Summer Sun with the Houndstooth Cuttlebug folder. I then cut three strips of Handsome Hunter and stamped Go Pack Go with my Palette Stamp & Stick Gluepad. This was by far the most disappointing part of this card. I did each word separately and immediately poured Martha Stewart yellow barite glitter over the top. The glue did not not hold well at all. I used my Quickie Glue Pen to fill in the empty spots and apply more glitter. I love my Quickie Glue Pen and it won’t be losing its spot to the Palette gluepad any time soon.

I folded the strips around the Summer Sun panel and added a mini brad from Recollections. The last thing I added was some hunter grosgrain and then added the image on dimensionals. The football is cut out and popped up on a dimensional. Inside reads “Are you ready for some football?” I’m planning to send this to my Grandpa – he is a big football fan as well, so I think he’ll get a kick out of it.

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween! A quick post before I try to get the kids’ costumes finalized. They are both going as pirates. Our daughter said she wanted to be a pirate captain and her little brother went along with it. Well, he didn’t really have much to say about it.

Recently I was looking for something storage related and remembered Storage Units, Ink & More. When I went to the site, I discovered they were liquidating their stamps. They had some really adorable sets that were on my wish list for a long time and at $5 for a full set of stamps, who could pass that up?

One of the sets I ordered was Kooky Kostumes, featuring adorable kids in great costumes. I wanted to do a quick Halloween card last night and inked up this cutie candy corn girl. If any of you have little ones who watch Nick Jr (formerly Noggin), you probably know the “I don’t like candy corn” song that Moose sings. My daughter will come up to me and say “I like candy corn. Do you?” It is so cute.

Anyway, after coloring her in with Copics, I cut her out using my Nestabilities Labels 8 and added some Dazzling Diamonds to her tip. I cut an additional mat of black from the next size up in the labels. I stamped, colored and cut out the pumpkin pail image from this set as well. I knew I wasn’t going to get the inner part between the handle & pumpkin cut without loosing the handle, so I cut it off and drew in the handle. The paper is from Target $ Spot and the brads are from Recollections. I stamped the sentiment and sponged Only Orange over the top. This was actually a very quick card, which is what I needed.
