Absolutely Fabulous!

Hi all!  Happy Thursday!  Last night I was able to take one of my images that I colored during The Daily Marker 30 Day challenge and get a card made.  I have built up quite a stash of images, which will be quite nice to boost the MOJO at times!

I love this Stamping Bella image — so glamorous and spunky!  I paired her up with the current Sweet Sketch Wednesday sketch.

I picked out Authentique Journey papers to use on my card.  I love the blues in the papers.  They are matched up with Blue Raspberry from Gina K and Black Licorice from MFT.  The sentiment is from Mega Mixed Messages from PTI.  I added a rhinestone to her ring and a trio of sequins.  {the little trio of embellishments in the right corner of the sketch are missing from my card.  I went back and added in a trio of sequins there, but my light had shifted by that point and I wasn’t able to re-photograph it. }  I really like how it turned out — ab fab!!

LOVEFEST2014B On Cloud Nine

Guess what?!  It’s snowing AGAIN!  Even with being from Wisconsin, I’m over the snow and winter.  On the upside, it has given my kids many hours of outdoor play and fun.  On the downside, there is no place to go with the snow anymore, I can’t see around the piles at the end of my driveway and streets are getting narrower by the day (and people are getting more & more ridiculous with their driving aggressions).  We are supposed to be in the 40s & 50s the end of this week, so I’m sure a bit will melt off, but then we’ll all be flooded.

I’m rather certain the only people On Cloud Nine about the snow are ski/snowboard enthusiasts.  I’m hoping to think spring with my card today for Stamping Bella’s Love Fest challenge.

Bright colors always make me think of spring.  I inked up this little Altee-tude image and made a little 4×4 card.  I paper pieced her hat with some really fun polka dot green paper from American Crafts.  Since the paper piecing covered up the flower a bit on her hat, I added in a flower button.  The sentiment is cut out on a PTI cloud.  Quick & simple!  Bright & springy!

Bellarific Lovey Dovey Valentine

It’s been a long time since I participated in a Bellarific Friday challenge. This week I had some new Tiddly Inks waiting for me to ink up and amongst them was APTEE’tude and the theme was Lovey Dovey — a perfect match. I’m also going to submit this for the first Fussy & Fancy challenge, which had a theme of new.

Since this is such a sweet little image, I decided to make a 4.25 square card. I started with a base of Pretty in Pink and complimented it with Raspberry Fizz. APTEE’tude is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored her with Copics – I especially love her string of hearts. The Raspberry Fizz is punched with Martha Stewart’s Lattice Heart punch.

To top it off, I added a Fancy Tag with some May Arts ribbon. The sentiment is from Lilly Loveaboo. APTEE’tude does come with a sentiment, but it wouldn’t fit on the Fancy Tag (and I couldn’t find it!). To make sure the sentiment didn’t get lost on the big tag, I punched it and a Raspberry Fizz mount with my SU oval punches.

Playing with Core’dinations

I will be very spoiled this week — my husband is on vacation, which is great. The kids are out of school for the second week and my daughter keeps asking when she goes to school. I hope to remember this when she is a teen and not wanting to go to school. 🙂

One of my presents from my husband was The Chocolate Box Core’dinations paper. I had never used Core’dinations and had seen so many beautiful results with Cuttlebug folders. A good friend’s birthday was today, so yesterday I set out to play with my new paper and make her a card.

I chose Patricia Birthdaycake from Stamping Bella for my image – I really love the Chichiboulie fairies – and MOJO 116 for my layout. From my Core’dinations pack, I picked out two pretty blues for my color pallett. Patricia is colored with Copics. Her wings are painted with Pixie Dust Shimmerz Blingz and her skirt is covered in Distress Stickles in Broken China. I hadn’t intended to go over her entire skirt with the Stickles, but my tip was cut down a bit too far and it oozed a bit too much, so I used a paint brush to spread it over the entire area.

I used Nesties to cut out two circles, which were each embossed with Cuttlebug folders. Three Cuttlebug folders were used — D’Vine Swirls, Textile and Victoria. I sanded the embossed pieces a bit, but not all the way down to the chocolate on the reverse. The card base is Chocolate Chip, which makes a nice contrast. Before putting down all of my circles, I added some double sided satin May Arts ribbon. Inside is matted with a piece of white and the sentiment “Have a fairy nice birthday.”

Spinning Head Over Heels

Where is this week going? Where is October going? Days & weeks fly by so quickly. We have a beautiful fall day here.

Isn’t that little Huggabugg cute? Her little hearts made me think immediately of one of my favorite color combos — red, black & white. I colored her in and then decided to go with a spinner card. I hadn’t made one in a long time and since she is “head over heels“, I thought this would be perfect. She is mounted on a double mat of Nestabilities circles.

To create the spinner, I first Cuttlebugged a piece of Real Red with the Heart Blocks folder and then used my Word Window punch to create the track. I used dimensionals to pop up this piece, as well as to adhere two pennies together for the spinner. I used another dimensional to mount Huggabugg on to the pennies and popped them in on the track.

The sentiment is cut out using my Nestabilities Ribbon Tag Trio and before taking the paper out, I sponged the inside with PaperTrey Ink’s Pure Poppy. And that adorable little bow? Well, I just received my Bow Easy from SCACD (Insanely quick shipping from Susana – I ordered on Saturday & received it on Monday from CA to NJ.) and that will be a bow saver for me. I can’t believe I waited as long as I did to buy it.

Summer Sun Daisy

I hope you all had a great Labor Day weekend. We had really nice weather and a great day trip to meet up with a great SCS friend, Melissa (scungilli). We all had a blast –especially our kids.

In honor of the last official/unofficial weekend of summer, I pulled out Summer Sun to use with my Daisy Bittybloom. This definitely isn’t a color I use often. In fact, I think these were the remaining sheets from when I first starting stamping 3 years ago! I wanted to keep Daisy rather traditional and the Summer Sun was perfect for this. It really pops against the black.

Daisy is stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black and cut out with Nestabilities, following the MOJO102 sketch. Her petals are not colored, but are painted with Pixie Dust Shimmerz Blingz.

Her daisy center is colored with Copics and then for sparkle, a bit of Yellow Stickles. This layout was so much fun and I used PaperTrey Ink’s Mega Mixed Messages for a greeting. The cluster of daisys are from the Cuttlebug With Love set. Ebony Glitter Dots were the perfect embellishment with their added sparkle.

It’s Raining Eloise!

I’m signed up for a card swap, done a bit differently than the usual. It is a “It’s raining….” swap. Instead of making 6 cards and mailing them to the hostess, you make up a set number and mail them directly to the recipients for that month. I’m doing the “It’s raining Bellas” swap and needed to have 4 cards ready to go for August.

Yesterday I cashed in on part of my stocking stuffer gift from my wonderful husband. He gave me a certificate for one day (9AM to 7PM) free of children. I was able to get about 3 hours in yesterday and it is amazing what a child-free environment does for your mojo.

I used the Mojo96 sketch from last week and put together this set of cards featuring Eloise Greengrass. She is just adorable and I am thrilled with how they turned out. I used the same colors on each, but mixed them up a bit each time. I used the Blossom Nestabilities to cut out Eloise and the circles to provide the mat. These also covered a few Dare to Get Dirty challenges — Eggette’s Flap Your Wings!; Becca_Stamps’ Cut it Out!; and Lauraly’s Tie One On! — which wasn’t even planned on my part!

I loved the colors in these– so soft and subtle. I hope the ladies who receive these will be happy as well.
