FTHS#152 Hamlet Golfer

Hi all!  Happy Monday!  I’m here today with a great new sketch for I {heart} sketches and featuring one of the new Hamlet PigWits.

FTHS152 Hamlet Golfer

Hamlet PigWit in the Rough is a hilarious image and sentiment set.  Personally, I don’t golf {I’ve gone once and my divots went further than the ball!} and my husband has only gone once a year, but I find this set so hilarious.  I colored Hamlet with Copics —  I actually found my designer paper first, opting for some patterns likely to be found on golf shorts.   He’s cut out with a Zig Zag Square STAX die.  My plaid paper is cut out with Blueprints 13 and I cut three small flags in complimentary card stock colors.  I did pop Hamlet up on fun foam to give him some nice dimension.  For the golf ball, I added in a white Candy Dot.  Inside, I added an additional panel with the “Swing. Swear. Look for Ball. (Repeat)” — it really made me giggle when I read that!

Make sure you stop by the From the Heart Stamps blog to see what other inspiring works my teammates have made this week. Don’t forget, you receive a $1.00 credit to the From the Heart Stamps store just for participating {just remember, you must use a FTHS image and use either the sketch and/or the twist!}

MFTWSC228 Baseball Birthday

Hi all!  My son had a birthday party over the weekend and it was at a baseball training place.  The kids were all run around in circles doing different things — love birthday parties that tire them out!  I needed to make a card and opted to use this week’s MFTWSC sketch to create a fun baseball themed card.

This turned out really well!  I opted to go with New York Yankees colors, so the card base is Nightshift Blue.  I cut a piece of Neenah Solar White with Blueprints 16.  I then stamped it with the Simply Circles Background in Nightshift Blue as well.   I cut my Jersey from Neenah as well and stamped it with the Pinstripe Background stamp.  I stamped the small alphabet to stamp his name and one of the larger numbers in Versamark and embossed them in black.  Finally, I cut a baseball from the All Star Sports set.

Happy Monday!  It’s happy here for the kids as they are off school today for President’s Day.  They are looking forward to swimming.  We have a busy day planned between a necessary shopping trip to Costco, swimming and possibly car shopping.  We have been leasing and our lease is up next month.  Neither my husband or I like the process of car shopping, but at least this time around we have a pretty clear idea of what we want.  He jokes though about the correlation between President’s Day and car sales.

On to my card for today — If you are a regular reader of my blog, you are probably aware that I am a HUGE Green Bay Packers fan.  I was born & raised in Wisconsin and lived in Green Bay prior to moving to the East Coast.  One of my favorite players retired, after playing 14 years with the Packers.  He started and completed his career with the same team, something almost unheard of in the NFL.  He also has one of the best smiles and does a lot for his hometown community and the Green Bay area.  Just an all around great person.

One of my favorite packs of designer paper is Cosmo Cricket Garden Variety and it is because of the great green and yellow papers that work perfectly for a Packers card.  I used MFT’s Jersey die and stamp set to create the jersey.  I used Copics to add in a bit of the usual stripes on the jersey and then just stamped Thanks and his number.

Oh, and the player, Donald Driver, also competed on Dancing with the Stars and won.  His freestyle dance was just awesome.  If you’d like to put a smile on your face, take a gander at the video below.  🙂

Heart Power

Hi all! Did you have a good weekend?  Ours was productive, which is always a good thing.  Not nearly enough craft room production though.  I know once school is back in session, that will change.  At least I hope it will!

Today I have an ABaC for you from Bugaboo.  If you have visited my blog often, you know that I am a HUGE Green Bay Packers fan.  I’m anxiously awaiting the start of the new football season in a few weeks and this year, I’ll be able to watch all of the games.  We just switched back to Direct TV with the NFL package and I’m super excited and happy about that.

I created my annual Packers schedule for the fridge.  This year, on our trip home, I was thrilled to find scrapbooking paper and stickers at the Packers Pro Shop.  The NFL doesn’t allow for anyone else to use official logos so the papers aren’t available in craft stores.  So I was very excited to get them.  My schedule this year features the Bugaboo Brat Sports – Football and a quote by Vince Lombardi.  It isn’t one of his more popular quotes, but I like the idea of heart power.

Once a man has made a commitment to a way of life, he puts the greatest strength in the world behind him.  It’s something we call heart power.  Once a man has made this commitment, nothing will stop him short of success.”

The football player has a Packers G from the sticker sheet on his Jersey.

It’s a quick and simple project!

AKV Baseball Girl

Hi all!  Happy Tuesday!  Have you survived the heat?  I definitely am not a fan of high heat and humidity, but it makes the days easy to plan.  The kids go in the pool up to two times a day and it makes the days go by quite quickly.

Today is a new release over at Bugaboo Stamps.  New to the store is this super cute A Kid’s View Baseball Girl Catch.  She reminds me of my daughter when she was on softball this spring — well, I’m sure this girl can catch much better.  In first grade the girls are more interested in digging in the dirt than watching out for the ball. LOL!

I decided to go with a very simple layout, using an old TESC sketch, along with a very fun color combo.  The patterns of the paper and the ribbon are very fun together!  Definitely girlie and definitely fun!

Make sure you check out the store for the rest of the new releases!

Green Bay Packers ATC

Good Morning!  We have a new challenge at Catch the Bug this week!  We are challenging you to make an ATC (Artist Trading Card).  If you’ve never made one, there is a fantastic tutorial on SCS.  The biggest detail is that this little ATC is 2.5 x 3.5 inches.

Now, I have to admit this was not my plan for my ATC.  I had colored up two additional Bugaboo Brats over the holidays when I made my Wisconsin Badgers cards and colored them in Green Bay Packers colors.  I held off on putting them on a card because I was becoming a bit superstitious about posting cards with my team colors.  Wisconsin laid an egg in the Rose Bowl so I didn’t wan to jinx the Packers.    Given that they don’t actually play until next Sunday in the SUPER BOWL, I’m hoping any jinx will have worn off well before then.  If not and something happens and they lose to Pittsburgh, you will likely never see another green & gold football related project on my blog — much to Rae Anne’s glee! (She’s a Cowboys fan! EW!)

I kept this very simple.  Handsome Hunter and Summer Sun work perfectly for Packers.  I embossed the Summer Sun with the Houndstooth folder for a bit of texture.  Each has a strip of hunter grosgrain and a football button.  Very quick and very simple — but you can make your ATC as fancy as you’d like!  I’m always amazed by how much you can get in a 2.5×3.5 inch space!

On Wisconsin!

Good Morning!  Hope you are enjoying a relaxing & peaceful start to 2011!  My traditional New Year’s day plans are to watch the Rose Bowl parade (this being my first year watching in HD!) and lounging most of the day.  Today I get an extra treat to watch the Rose Bowl game, as the Wisconsin Badgers are playing in it!  I didn’t attend the UW, but I love watching games at Camp Randall.  Especially the marching band.  It is my goal to one day actually get to a game there.

Anyway, today marks a new challenge at Catch the Bug and we are kicking off the year easy with anything goes.    You have the chance to win up to 7 digis from Bugaboo if you play along!

In honor of the Badgers I have a pair of Bugaboo Sport Brats.  They are each colored up in their finest red & white.  Better yet, they have accompanying Bucky Badger and Wisconsin W papers — I picked them up when I was home in the summer.  I followed the MOJO Monday square sketch from this week, which worked perfectly.  The sentiment was just printed on the PC and punched out with the Word Window punch.  I added in a pair of roses for the Rose Bowl.
