FTHS156 – You Rock!

Hi all! Happy Monday! My kids have their last full week of school here and there is still a LOT going on!  As I’ve mentioned, we have been DIY’ing our kitchen renovation.  There’s a sneak peak in my photo below and we are sooooo close to being done, but I won’t consider it done, until 100% is done.  I made this card for my husband for when we reach that 100% mark.

FTHS156 You Rock

As you can imagine, a DIY kitchen renovation brings chaos to the entire house.  It also tends to squash any creative MOJO.  For my card this week, I went with just a sentiment — this one from the Hamlet PigWit Cold Suds set.  I printed it off and cut it with a Zig Zag Stitched STAX Square die and popped it up with fun foam on the back.  To compliment the DIY home improvement theme, I pulled papers from KaiserCraft (sorry, can’t remember which set) and cut out this great nuts & bolts paper with Blueprints 13.  I used Stitched Scallop Edges to cut three bold & bright pieces of cardstock to compliment the paper.  To finish it off, I pulled out two screw brads and snipped the legs off — I really do not like brads.  Mainly because I never remember to poke the legs through prior to adhering my papers.  So I typically snip the legs and use a glue dot to glue them down.  Now, as long as I can FIND the card when we are done, I’ll be all set!  LOL!

KG Creations – Believe, Inspire & Grateful

Hi all!  It has been a rough two weeks in our household.  Everyone got sick with a weird flu/fever/über-fatigue bug, which was compounded by seasonal allergies & colds.  My poor son has a ridiculous cough that tires him out and keeps him up at night.  We are hopefully rounding the bend and getting to the point of an actual night’s rest.

Today I have a set of sweet 3×3 notecards I made using the new Kennedy Grace Creations stamp set, You Inspire Me and the new sequin mix, Kindness Medley.  As soon as I saw this set, I loved it.  I love the big trio of words and the pretty font — I think my adoration for pretty, script fonts is that I do not like my own handwriting!  The stamps are lovely — I’ve gotten nice, crisp images straight out of the package.

KG Believe Blue KG Believe Mint

These were super simple and quite quick to make.  I cut watercolor paper with a Zig Zag STAX die and used Gelatos to watercolor a swash of background.  To get the green I was going for, I mixed two of my Gelatos together.  After letting that dry a bit (the longest part of the process), I stamped the large word in VersaFine Onyx and embossed with clear embossing powder.

KG Inspire Blue KG Inspire Mint

I then stamped the smaller words and completing sentiments on scraps of card stock.  The trickiest part was getting those little pieces cut straight!  Each of those sentiments is popped up on dimensionals.

KG Grateful Blue KG Grateful Mint

Believe it or not, I did NOT use all of the sentiment combinations available in this stamp set.  There are still more!  Plus, there are an additional 10 little images — hearts, flowers, leaves, dots — included in the set.  Finally, I added in sequins.  This is such a pretty sequin mix and I love the colors together!  Now, off you go to the KG Creations store to pick up your own stamp sets & sequin mixes!  You won’t be disappointed!

KG Creations – Smile

Hi all!  Happy Saturday!  You know, we all have colors that we don’t use a lot and for me, yellow is one of them.  After seeing the Sunshine on the Daisies mix from Kennedy Grace Creations, that changed.  It is so bright, fun & cheerful!

KG Smile Daisies

So I opted to create a fairly quick and easy shaker card.  I used the MFT Transform-ables Smile dies {retired} to create my shaker front {after cutting it with Blueprints 13, of course!}.  The sentiment is from Clearly Sentimental Smile {also retired} and is stamped in VersaFine and embossed.  I have both an acetate front, as well as a Fuse pocket holding the sequin mix.  {This was not for any reason — it was more of a oh, I forgot to create my Fuse pocket first.} This mix has bright yellow sequins, translucent sequins in a few sizes, little yellow stars, translucent flower sequins and beads. I don’t think you could look at it without smiling!   I filled my pocket and adhered it to the back of the window.  I added a piece of polka dotted paper behind it to add a bit more interest.

If you look closely, you’ll see that the i is dotted with a flower sequin from the mix.  Pop on over to the Kennedy Grace Creations store to pick up your mix of Sunshine on the Daisies, along with many other fantabulous sequin mixes!

Crafting with Friends — Anything Goes

MFTWSC129 You Are Fab

Hi all!  Well, we’re back in NJ after two weeks in Wisconsin with family.  We all had a great time and would love to be back there permanently.  Hopefully, some day!  We boarded our dog, Freckles and she is so happy to be home.  She’s curled up on her spot in my craft room as I type this.  The kids were so excited to see her.  They did have doggie time with my mom’s little dog — they each took a turn walking him daily.   It’s made us consider getting a second dog, but a little one.  Freckles is still young and LOVES to play — in fact, last night, we had hilarity when our 17 year old cat decided to come downstairs (exercising her freedom she had when we were gone and the dog was boarded).  Freckles wanted to play and Cleo wanted nothing of it — she sat under a chair, hissing and swatting at Freckles.  She has some pretty mad fighting skills — at one point, she was up on her hind legs, giving Freckles everything she had! LOL!
Today I have a card made long ago — the end of the school year!  We needed cards for my daughter’s teacher and aide.  This was for her aide.
I wanted a very simple card and used the MFT Bold Statements set.  It’s such a fun set for quick cards.  These colors are really fun together — not what I would typically put together, but they work.  I’ve been trying to use up some older lines of designer papers that I have — I need to make room for the NEW gorgeous lines coming out!

Inside I added a little pocket to hold the gift card.

LOVEFEST2013H Life is What You Make It

Hi all!  Just a quick post today.  I still have a few cards from the Love Fest challenges to share with you and today is my card for the challenge that was sponsored by Unity Stamps.  It was another color challenge and one that was completely out of my comfort zone.  I was very fortunate to find designer papers from Bo Bunny Ad Lib that were perfect.

I kept this layout very simple, making the focus the papers.  To pull in some more brown, which was one of the colors, I cut a piece of felt with the double dot border from MFT.  I interlaced it with some satin Hawaiian Shores ribbon. A simple sentiment and some rhinestones completed it.

LOVEFEST2013E MFTWSC112 Creating Yourself

Happy Thursday all!  Has anyone else had a hard time tracking the days this week?  I know I have and can’t quite figure out why.  Maybe having a 3 hour PTA meeting has something to do with it! YUCK!  I’m trying to clean up my craft room from my Love Fest card making binge.  It was fun to create so many cards!  I have another for you today.

The Simon Says Stamp challenge was “die crazy” — using at least one die.  I combined this challenge with last week’s MFTWSC sketch.

My key to doing so many of the challenges was I had to go out of my usual.  I did a lot of sentiment focused cards.  For this challenge, I used Basic Grey Bittersweet papers to pull this together rather easily.  The sentiment is from MFT Pearls of Wisdom.  I added in some ribbon and a Loopy Bloom — it was my first and I can see many being made — especially for my daughter’s headbands!

LOVEFEST2013F MOJO281 Fun is Good!

Happy Friday!  I’m back with another Love Fest challenge card.  This one was sponsored by The Cat’s Pajamas and was an inspiration challenge featuring some awesome patterns in yellow, black and white.  When I saw it, I immediately thought of the Teresa Collins Carolina Breeze paper pad.

Yellow isn’t one of my go to colors, but I love yellow, black and white together.  I went with the MOJO Monday sketch and added a simple sentiment from Verve — the set seems to be retired and I don’t recall the name.  A very quick and simple card!
