KG Watermelon Love

For my card, I went clean and simple.  The new Watermelon Spritzer mix is just gorgeous — it’s a beautiful mix of watermelon sequins, two sizes of translucent/clear sequins and clear and gold round beads.  I used only the sequins on my card, as well as a few smaller sequins from Tinkerbelle’s Sparkle.  Now the watermelon sequins match perfectly with Berry Sorbet card stock from PTI.  For my card, I used a Berry Sorbet base and added a black panel with a Mega Mehndi Medallion (PTI) stamped & embossed with white embossing powder.  To that, I added a stack of love — I cut the MFT love die five times from Berry Sorbet and stacked them up.  I love to add dimension in that way.  Of course, then I added in my sequins to finish it off.   Love that pop of the sequins off the black card stock.

There is a prize giveaway, in honor of the blog hop & release.  Make sure you comment on each blog to increase your chances to win.  The winner will be announced on Monday on the Kennedy Grace Creations blog.

Your next stop on the blog hop is the talented Jessica — make sure you hop over there to see her gorgeous project.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Hope to see you again soon!

I’ve Met My Match

Hi all!  Happy Sunday!  A quick post before we run out to a graduation party.  My Sunday started out watching the Gentlemen’s Wimbledon final.  Both my husband and I love tennis.  I was disappointed in the final, as Rafael Nadal didn’t win, but I did get something done in my room while watching the match.

When MFT released this new a la mode set the other week, I had to get it. I really like the a la modes and this set is just so perfect.  Since Wimbledon was currently on, I wanted to go with greens for the grass court, so I went with Simply Chartreuse and Sweet Blush to lighten it up a bit.  Two patterned papers from Echo Park Walk in the Park worked perfectly here — especially the top, which makes me think of tennis strings and nets.  I paper pieced her dress with the polka dotted paper.  The sketch is this week’s The Sweetest Thing layout.

Inside I stamped one of the other sentiments, which I just love and added more of the “net” paper.

You Know You Love Me…

Happy Friday!  Today I have my first card using a Kraftin Kimmie stamp.  I had picked up two stamps awhile back and they sat uninked for too long.  Wednesday I finally inked up Betty and she was just too fun to color.

Isn’t she a hottie?  I had to go with a seductive red & black combo.  After coloring her thigh highs, I drew in the lines for fishnets.  I split the sentiment, stamped it in one straight line and then cut it out with a double-ended banner die from PaperTrey Ink.  The layout is this week’s Kraftin Kimmie challenge sketch

Elegant Heart

Good Morning! We are starting out the week HOT here. I guess we are truly in the dog days of summer. I won’t complain because it is going far too quickly. Today starts a new Kaboodle Doodles challenge. Our challenge this week is to add a little metal to your card. Our sponsor this week is Crafts 4 Eternity and up for grabs is 3 digi images from the store.

For my card, I chose the heart #1 image. Initially when I chose this image and knowing the challenge of adding metal, I thought I would use metallic thread to sew the scroll design on the hearts. I attempted this, but the thread was too thin and the stitching above my sewing skills. On to plan b.

I printed off the heart, cut it out and simply colored the rim with an R46 Copic. Then I added sterling Martha Stewart glitter to the scrolls with a Quickie Glue Pen. I chose a really striking color combo of black, red and silver. My silver is Stardream Metallic and it is cover sheet weight. I embossed it with the D’vine Swirls folder and love how deeply the embossing takes. Two ribbons, each with a ruffled edge, and some Mark Richards metals complete the card. I left off the sentiment, allowing the card to be used for any occasion.

Kisses for My Husband

Good Morning! I have a very sweet and very quick little card for you today. One of my favorite sets of images from Tiffany Doodles is the Kiss set. I’ve been spending time with the kids at my mom’s, which was wonderful, but it also meant being away from my husband, so this went to him.

Aren’t those kisses cute? I love how Tiffany has so many different tags for the kisses. I lined up 3 kisses with the most romantic tags and printed it off on Select White. I used Smooch Silver Fox paint to paint the kisses. They are cut out with long rectangle Nesties and matted on a piece of Stardream Metallic Silver. Now, I had intended to make the card base larger, but mistakenly grabbed the wrong nestie, so it ended up being the same size as the silver mat. I decided to go with that, liking the effect of the silver being just over the crease in the black. As a final touch, I added a bow of silver & black May Arts ribbon — some of my favorite ribbon.
