HYCCT1414 Center Step Snowflakes

Hi all!  So yesterday was gross and disgusting here in NJ.  Had we been in today’s temperatures, we’d likely be having a snow day today.  It’s a very blustery and cold day here, but brilliant sunshine.

I’m finishing up my HYCCT posts this week, I think.  I have a good number of snowflake cards to share with you.  First up is my card for the HYCCT1414 challenge “It’s Time to Step Up” and make a step card.  I haven’t done many of these, but I love how this one turned out.

There’s something about blue and snowflakes that I just love.  I did a center step card and paired Nightshift Blue with Bo Bunny Powder Mountain.  The center panel is embossed.  This was the perfect opportunity to use up some old supplies — snowflake brads and a glittery & translucent snowflake sticker on the sentiment panel.  The largest Pierced Snowflake fits nicely in the center.  The sentiment is from Merry Messages and on a Pierced Fishtail Flags STAX.  LOVE how it turned out!

HYCCT1308 Joy Folded Hope

Hi all!  My posts are getting backlogged!  Last week ended up busy and my mojo ended up disappearing a bit.  I’m hoping to get it back, as I’m about 5 challenges behind for HYCCT.  I’m determined to complete all of the challenges!

Today, I have my card for the It’s a Cover Up challenge.  The challenge was to create a card with a hidden message.  I opted for a Joy Fold card, knowing that it was the perfect way to provide a hidden message.

This is full on pink!  I pulled out more papers from the MAMBI breast cancer pack and matched them up with Raspberry Fizz.  For my image panel, I stamped the single tee image from MFT WTG Choose Hope.  I paper pieced that with a small design from MAMBI.  I added on a bow of two toned pink May Arts ribbon — one of my first May Arts purchases and some that I absolutely adore.  To keep the front closed, I cut a ribbon from Raspberry Fizz and popped it up on dimensionals, primarily on the left side and the lower portions.  You don’t want to put the sticky by the flap or you’ll end up with a card sticking.

Inside I stamped a sentiment from the Choose Hope set.  I love how the Joy Fold is special, but isn’t so complicated you don’t want to make it again!

Cityscape — Bendi Style!

Hi all!  Don’t fall over now!  I know, two days in a row!  Today I have a card, which is ultimately rather simple, but definitely not in the construction.  The other week when I received the Wednesday Tutorial email from SCS, my chin dropped.  I couldn’t believe that gorgeous cherry blossom card.  I’ve been a bit in love with them since we went to Washington DC and MISSED them being open!  Mother Nature and all of her wacky behavior this year had them opening late!

Anyway, I’m off track.  The tutorial was for a Bendi Fold card.  It looked gorgeous without being overly complicated — it isn’t simple, you just need to be concise.  I knew I wanted to try the fold and had the perfect set to do so.  The Cityscape set from Sweet Stamp Shop was screaming “use me!”

After cutting my base and flap pieces, I stamped two stretches of buildings.  I wanted it to be a pop of color in the fireworks, so I chose to do black and silver for the buildings.  After stamping the buildings, I adhered them to the flaps and then cut around the buildings to create the skyline.

Inside I stamped another row of buildings and then masked them off to sponge the sky.  I used a*muse studio inks — I so love these ink pads.  They are so juicy and a nice size to accommodate larger images.    Here I used Navy and Blueberry.  I then stamped the fireworks with Versamark and embossed them with some red embossing tinsel.  To finish it off, I had to add in a few “stars” or sequins in this case.

Now, this set comes with a bunch of awesome sentiments, but I opted to leave it sentiment free.  I’m not even sure I would want to write on this card.  Maybe just use it as decor!

  • Blog hop will last until Thursday, December 9th.
  • The order of the blog hop is listed below:

Cammy Wall    ->You are here!

So our challenge for December is Christmas.  Easy Peasy!  You have from today through the 31st to enter over on Tiffany Doodles.  As usual, you have a chance to win up to 7 digis.

When Tiffany released all of her adorable Christmas images recently, I had in my head to make a stair step card.  I had never made one and thought it would be perfect with her images.  Off I set to make a stair step card.  The folds of the stair step were easy…

…the cutting, on the other hand, was a bit time consuming. LOL!  I  kept the card rather simple to show off the images.  On my card I used the reindeer from Snowman set with reindeer and stocking,  the Christmas Sleigh, Star Trees, and Presents.  I had to do a bit of selective cutting — cutting off the present bows and the swirls — I just couldn’t get them cut without issue.  There is a touch of Stickles on the stars of the trees and Rudolph’s nose.
So do you like those little Star Trees?  Would you like to win a set of your own?  Leave a comment and you’ll have a chance to get a pair of your own.
Before you go hopping on to the oh-so-talented Collette’s blog, keep in mind a few other things — Tiffany is currently running  fantastic sale — buy 3 digis, get one free.  Tiffany has also been working hard on a new store — no more blog shopping.  I’ve had a sneaky peak and it looks awesome!  You can keep up to date on all things Tiffany Doodles by following on Twitter or Facebook.  Lastly, if you would like Tiffany Doodles to sponsor your challenge, you can find all of the info you need for that HERE.
WHEW!  That was a lot of info!  Off you go to Collette’s blog.  Don’t forget to comment & follow along the way.  Then get inky with your favorite Christmas images — we’d love to see your Tiffany Doodles images if you have them, but they are not required to participate in the challenge.

PWC115 Swing on By

I’m on a roll! The mojo seems to be working with me this week. It helps receiving new stamps in the mail — my new Paper Pretties arrived on Monday. Finally today, I inked up the new Swing on By Sophia. I just love this image! Since Paper Pretties is sponsoring Tuesday Morning Sketches this week, I decided to use Sophia for this week’s challenge. This week’s challenge is to make a diagonal double pocket card. This also does double duty for the Paper Pretties challenge of summer.

This was a fun card to make. I really like this fold and can see making more of them. Now, due to the size of Sophia, I decided to only make one tag. Sophia is colored with Copics and her dress is paper pieced with the green polka dot designer paper. She’s cut out with the largest Labels 11 nestie. Recently, Pam “The Stamping Addict” shared how she uses stipple brushes instead of sponging inside her Nesties. I picked up a few stipple brushes at Michaels over the weekend and really love this effect. Using Memento Summer Sky and a post-it cut with a wave, I added in a sky. Then using Memento Pear Tart and New Sprout, I added the grass. This is a great way to sub ink for an airbrush system when that isn’t in your budget! 🙂

For the tag, I cut out Select White with the largest label again. Then, using my Fiskars Fingertip Detail Knife (a great use of $5), I cut around the outside of the Nestie on Simply Chartreuse to create a larger Nestie. Some May Arts ribbon I’ve had for years and a fabric brad I’ve also had for years finished off the tag. Really cute!

Sweet Watermelon

Good Morning! We have a new challenge for you today from Bugaboo Stamps and Catch the Bug! Our theme this week is Sweet Summertime — interpret this however you like with your favorite summer image.

A few important tidbits before I show you the eye candy.

  • Jodie is running another fabulous sale from July 24-31. It is the “moving is expensive” sale. Everything is 50% off. The code is 967B4689, which you need to enter at the Payloadz checkout (not the paypal checkout).
  • Our challenge this week is sponsored by The Character Cafe and a $10 gift certificate is up for grabs.
  • In addition to The Character Cafe, you have the chance to win up to 7 free digis from Bugaboo.

I used one of my favorites, the watermelon Summertime Peeker. She is such a cutie!

Also in here is one of my fave candies — watermelon Jelly Bellies. YUMMY! The cutie is printed off twice and colored with Copics. I chose to do a circle card, using the largest big scallop circle nestie for the card base. Black rhinestones around the edge of the pink are perfect to represent the seeds. A little bow of Raspberry Fizz with a New Leaf button top it off nicely. As a final touch, I stamped enjoy from the PaperTrey Ink Mega Mixed Messages set on the slice of watermelon.

The second image was mounted on a smaller New Leaf scalloped circle. I found a great little jar at Goodwill for 49 cents and put the Jelly Bellies in there. This is such a cute little jar! The enjoy on this image is from the Mixed Messages PTI set.

Christmas in July — JJ Style

Good Morning! Welcome to the latest Catch the Bug challenge for Bugaboo Stamps. This week we are celebrating Christmas in July. Having Christmas in July might even cool things off for some of us! LOL! As usual, you have a chance to win some of Jodie’s awesome images by entering a card in the challenge. But wait, that isn’t it — this week we have a sponsor! Bizzy Becs is sponsoring our challenge and has a fabulous gift basket up for grabs as well!

Jodie has some fabulous Christmas images in the store –with new bobbleheads and A Kid’s View Nativity having been added this week. Lots of fabulous images to chose from. I decided to go with the JJ Christmas Cheer images. I’d been wanting to try an accordion tag card for a while and this was the perfect opportunity.

First up is Merry Christmas. Now, although the images come with fantastic sentiments, I decided to type a sentiment under each image, tweaking them slightly to fit my ideas. The font is the same as the Will & Grace TV show. JJ is colored with Copics. I added some Glossy Accents to her boots and the candy “buckle” of her belt. Her sentiment reads, Merry Christmas, Darling!

Next up are tis the season and deck the halls. I added Christmas Stickles to the holly balls and ornaments. Again, a bit of Glossy Accents to her martini. Their sentiments are “tis the season to deck the halls” and “eat, drink and be merry…”.

Next up are wrapped up and naughty. I added Polar White Flower Soft to her Santa outfit and Glossy Accents to her boots (patent was definitely called for here). For wrapped up, I gave her fishnet stockings by drawing in some quick lines. The sentiments here are “be a little naughty” and ” and unwrap THIS!” *giggle*

Finally, here is the entire card open. I’m very happy with how it came out. Using my Crop-a-dile, I punched a hole at the top of each and tied in a bit of pretty May Arts ribbon. I wasn’t able to get the patterned paper cut down on the top of the tag, as I was cutting everything at once and didn’t think I’d get it all even. I think it still looks great and I definitely think my husband will get a kick out of this come Christmas.
