A NYC Rainbow Hello

Hi all!  I’m back again with another card for the Rainbow Maker Online Card Class.  It’s another CAS card, created with scraps of paper and die cut.

NYC Rainbow Hello

My papers are all Recollection colors.  I did a major organization binge — details of that will come later — and had lots of strips leftover.  I glued them down and then cut the NYC skyline {MFT Stamps – retired} from that piece.   I then cut a hello, also from that rainbow piece and mounted that on a black hello base.  {Top Dog Dies – Hello, retired}  Finally, I added in some sparkly sequins and that was it!

Thanks for stopping by today!  Hope to see you again soon!

Rest in Peace, Faith

Hi all!  This isn’t what I hoped to be posting about after an extended absence, however, Faith, the owner and illustrator of From the Heart Stamps, passed away after a battle with brain cancer.  Faith was diagnosed July 2016 and was undergoing treatment.  Unfortunately, the cancer was aggressive and she lost her battle last week.

Her obiturary can be found on the From the Heart Stamps blog.  Additionally, a GoFundMe campaign has been started to assist her husband and children.  You can find additional information about that HERE.

I had the joy to work with Faith on her design team.  Faith’s talent was awesome and it was an honor to be on her team.  My thoughts are with her husband, children, and family at this time.

~~Many hugs,

Mother Daughter CardMaking

Hi all!  Happy Mother’s Day!  Hope you are having a lovely day with your families.  My daughter and I spent some time this morning making cards.  She had asked to do one of the MFT color challenges.  I hadn’t participated in quite some time, so this worked perfectly. Hopefully, it will also help in perking up my MOJO, which has been rather flat & squashed lately.

First up is my daughter’s card.

MFTCC44 Ainsley Hello

I love how she put this together!  She pulled out my Mini Chicken Wire cover up die and cut a piece of Orange Fizz.  She glued that down to a white card base and then watercolored a few purple splotches, using my SAI Watercolor Markers.  She then cut two butterflies using the Flutter of Butterflies dies.  Finally, she cut a hello out of Limelight using a Top Dog Dies die.  She matted it on white and then added a piece of fun foam behind it for even dimension.

Now for mine:

MFTCC44 MFTWSC279 Chews You

I purchased the Gumball MFT kit a few months back and hadn’t used it yet.  I was struggling with all of the bits and pieces to the machine.  For the color challenge, I thought this would be the perfect way to accomplish the colors and get a machine made.  I cut my gumballs with each of the color challenge colors – Orange Fizz, Grape Jelly, Grapesicle and Limelight.  My machine was cut in Grout Gray. I did opt for a shaker card and used one of the Shaker Pouches and filled it with some card stock gumballs.  Finally, I stamped a sentiment in VersaFine Onyx and embossed it.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Hope to see you again soon!

A bit of news!

Hi all!  Just a quick post to let you know a bit of news about me!  After being away from design team work for a while, I decided to throw my hat in the ring for the design team call with From the Heart Stamps.  I’m very excited to say that they picked me to join their lovely & talented team!  I’m looking forward to getting going again — my term doesn’t officially start until October 1, but you may see some things prior to then.  {A side note — if you don’t know of From the Heart, you need to check out Faith’s adorable digital images.  Especially the snowmen!  Oh, and birds and pigs and cute little kids! Just go check out the store!}  To meet the other ladies joining the team, please visit the From the Heart blog.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

MFTWSC229 You’re Super Awesome

Hi all!  I have a fun pair of Avenger/Super Hero theme cards today.  I live in a household of super hero fans (along with Star Wars and many things geek-y!).  I’m very lucky to be going for a Mommy’s Weekend next week and I want to have little gifts and cards for them.

This first card, which is for the current MFTWSC sketch, will be my daughter’s.  I used elements from Birdie Brown’s You’re Super for the triangles in the sketch.

Next is my son’s card.  We usually Skype or FaceTime when I’m gone and I can’t wait to see his face when he opens this card.  I used Blueprints 16 to create this and LOVE how it turned out.  I purposefully left it without a sentiment on the outside.

HYCCT1424 Resist Snow

Happy Thanksgiving week Monday!  It’s a short week for my kids at school, made even shorter by various things — Turkey Trot tomorrow, which my daughter is very much looking forward to, and an early dismissal on Wednesday.  To add to the mix, we are up for a winter storm on Wednesday.  We do not travel for Thanksgiving and no one travels to us, but my husband does commute and I do hope this isn’t a pain on Wednesday.  Well, any more of a pain than what it already is!  Hopefully those traveling can get out early and beat the storm.

In honor of the incoming snow, I’ll share my crayon resist card from HYCCT1424.  Again, this is one of those techniques I had seen many times before, but had never attempted myself.

This turned out really quite lovely.  Very subtle!  So I used my Snowflakes Cuttlebug embossing folder for the resist.  I don’t have a brayer so I used an ink dauber in Pastel Blue from Hero Arts instead.  I kept the rest very CAS to allow that resist and subtle color to show through.  I added in a Pierced Snowflake with a blue brad for the center and a sheer organza ribbon, which I love.  The card base is Nightshift Blue.

Hi all!  It’s been a cold & rainy day here in NJ.  We are supposed to get more rain yet tonight and tomorrow.  It’s a good reason to stay in my craft room!
I have another HYCCT card today — a challenge to make a card, using no stamps.

For my card, I opted to use my Peek-a-Boo Alphabet Uppercase dies from MFT to spell out HOPE.  I then used my PaperTrey Ink Faith & Hope die to cut out a number of ribbons in various shades of pink, which were glued together and popped up on dimensional.  I then added in a ribbon of rhinestones on top.  Quick & simple!
