FTHS#162 – Snow NO!

Hi all!  I’m back with a new card for the latest From the Heart sketch.  I’m dedicating this to my friends on the East Coast, who got a bit of snow last week.

I know many people are tired of winter by this point, but usually refrain from really being done until March.  We have maxed out on our snow days so I’m hoping for no additional snow days between now and then.   I colored up my No Snow Birdbrain, using Copics.  I opted for a clean and simple background.  The strips are from an old DCWV pad of adhesive papers.   Added in some stickles for the snow and a few 3D clear snowflakes to finish it off.

Hope you’ll play along with us this week!  Hop over to the From the Heart Stamps blog to get all the details and link up your project.

KGC – Orange & Gold Roses

Hi all! Happy Saturday!  I’m here with a card featuring the Kennedy Grace Creations Splendid Roses stamp set.  This is such a beautiful group of roses!

orange-gold-roses

I don’t usually go for orange, but these turned out quite lovely!   Shiny gold cardstock seemed like a perfect accompaniment to the Melon Berry cardstock.   Since this is such a big focal image, it doesn’t require a lot of fussiness on a card.  I cut the gold and the roses with the largest Rectangle Frame dienamic from MFT.  It certainly makes for no fuss card fronts!  I then added a hello, which was cut with a retired Top Dog Dies die.  To add a bit of dimension, I popped it up on some fun foam, also cut with the die.  Finally, I added in some pretty translucent Moon Beams sequins.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Hope to see you again soon!

KGC Thanks a Bunch

Hi all! Hope you are enjoying your Labor Day weekend!  I’m here and on the Kennedy Grace Creations blog today with a project I did back in JUNE!  *GASP!*  These were actually the thank you gifts for my kids’ teachers, the school nurse and my daughter’s aide.  Because we had four gifts to purchase, I had to keep it small and the grocery store florist came through big time.  They had these great little orchids for $5.  I picked out four, made up sweet tags for each gift bag and they were done!KGC Purple Orchid Tag

This was my favorite of the four tags.  I love the richness of the colors and it matched the orchid so well.  I used my MFT die-namics again to create the tags.  I stamped one of the floral images from Grace’s Happy Heart in VersaMark and embossed with white embossing powder on each tag.  Then I used a variety of Distress Inks and other dye inks to blend each tag.  Finally, I stamped the sentiment from Grace’s Little Note in VersaFine Onyx and embossed that with clear embossing powder.

Simple, but packing that big punch of WOW!  Here are the other three tags I created.

KGC – Sunflowers for You

Hi there!  I’m up on the Kennedy Grace Creations blog today.  Before we start peeking some new products from Kennedy Grace Creations, I wanted to share with you a quick one featuring the Beautiful Blooms – Sunflower  that was released last month.

When I was growing up, we had sunflowers in our backyard.  I remember sitting at the top of a step ladder to reach the tippy-top of the sunflowers.  They are such beautiful flowers — even if they aren’t all that cooperative showing their faces.

I wanted to do something unexpected for some friends recently and found bunches of sunflowers at the grocery store, which made this so easy.  I created a simple tag using MFT die-namics.  I stamped my sunflower in VersaMark on watercolor paper and heat embossed with Zing Chestnut embossing powder.  I love that it made the center that deep brown of the flower.  I then colored them up using Distress Inks (a mix of Scattered Straw and Mustard Seed and Mowed Lawn for the leaves).  The sentiment was stamped in VersaFine Onyx and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.  I then added the bow in brown gingham and finished it off with some sequins from Mocha Vanilla Latte.  They made sweet little bouquets!
Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Hope you’ve enjoyed my project!  See you again soon!

KGC July Release & Blog Hop

KGC coral love rose tray

What I’ve created for you today is a lovely tray.  We recently painted our master bedroom a lovely silvery gray color and our bedding is black & white.  I have accent pillows in coral for that pop of color.  So, I bought an unfinished wood tray from Michaels and spray painted it gray. While that was drying, I stamped my Splendid Roses {splendid is an understatement!} in VersaMark and embossed it in white on watercolor paper.  I used Gelatos to color my roses in a mix of coral shades.  When I first saw this image, it instantly reminded me of the roses in Beauty & The Beast, so you will definitely be seeing some yellow roses along the way.  Since I was looking to cover a larger area than a card, I kept my watercolor paper quite big.  I added in sequins from Watermelon Spritzer and a die cut of the word love.  It’s matted on a piece of Calypso Coral from SU.  After gluing it down to the tray, I added in some sparkly glitter ribbon to finish the upper & lower edges.

Here are a few more photos:

FTHS159 — Surf’s Up!

Hi all! It’s been a while, but I’m back from DT break with FTHS for Sketch #159 today.  I’m going to keep this quite short, so here’s my card for the bi-weekly sketch #159.

FTHS159 Birdbrain Wave

I used one of the newest Birdbrain Chick images, Surf’s Up Birdbrain. She’s colored up, hanging ten on that glorious wave.  I cut her out with a Stitched Circle STAX die and added another under her since she was a bit small for the card.  I found some fun designer papers and cut out three flags.  Finally, I added in some sequins and some clear dew drop-like embellishments.  {I went stash diving for those!}  As a final touch, I added some Stickles to the waves.

Hope you’ll get the chance to play along with us.  Don’t forget you earn a $1.00 credit to the FTHS store just for playing along!  Also, this challenge runs until July 31 for our summer schedule!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Hope to see you again soon!

FTHS #158 – Cold One

Hi all!  Happy Monday!  My kiddos are officially on their first full week of summer vacation.  We had company last week and are now looking to find our summer rhythm.

There’s a new sketch at From the Heart Stamps today.  This sketch challenge will be open until July 17, as the design team goes on summer break from July 1-17.

FTHS158 Cold One

For my card, I used Hamlet PigWit Cold Suds.  I chose the beer & ice bucket image and added one of the many sentiments from the set underneath.  The card came together really easily and turned out to be a fantastic masculine & monotone card.  I happened to find a really great piece of 6×6 paper that worked well with grays and added Grout Gray for a background panel and gray Perler bead enamel dots.
