MFT Card Design Superstar

Hi all!  Sorry for the long absence!  Lots of adulting going on and not a lot of crafting!  However, I did carve out a bit of time the other day to create a wedding card for my niece and thought it would be a great way to have a card to enter into the MFT Card Design Superstar contest.

I pulled out a lot of my favorite MFT products to create this card.  I started by cutting a piece of Black Licorice card stock, which I then scored and further cut with Blueprints 16.  Then I cut an additional piece of Black Licorice with little flap die from Blueprints 16. This was then glued down, creating my pocket card.   I then used my MISTI to stamp the Lace Background with Versamark ink and embossed it with clear embossing powder.  To build onto the card, I cut the largest Circle Stitched Frame die with cream card stock, as well as the pieces of the Bride & Groom.

While I had my Lace Background stamp in the MISTI, I also stamped my wedding dress and embossed it as well with clear embossing powder.  I positioned my circle frame to be just above the curve.  The tuxedo and dress were glued down, adding in some rhinestones and pearls for buttons and added bling on the dress.  My sentiment is from Together Forever.  It’s stamped in VersaFine Onyx ink on another piece of cream cut with Blueprints 13.  To add that touch of shine, I embossed that as well with clear embossing powder.  The sentiment is popped up on some dimensionals.

LOVE the subtlety of the embossing on this!

Finally, inside I cut an additional two pieces of cream card stock.  One piece was cut using the large frame from Blueprints 16.  The other was cut with the same frame, as well as the curved piece to match it up with the curve of the black.  The curved piece was then cut with Gift Card Grooves to add my gift card.  The other piece was stamped with another sentiment from Together Forever and it was also embossed with clear embossing powder.

Hope you like the card!  Thanks so much for stopping by today! Hopefully, I’ll be back to a bit more regular posting soon!

Mother Daughter CardMaking

Hi all!  Happy Mother’s Day!  Hope you are having a lovely day with your families.  My daughter and I spent some time this morning making cards.  She had asked to do one of the MFT color challenges.  I hadn’t participated in quite some time, so this worked perfectly. Hopefully, it will also help in perking up my MOJO, which has been rather flat & squashed lately.

First up is my daughter’s card.

MFTCC44 Ainsley Hello

I love how she put this together!  She pulled out my Mini Chicken Wire cover up die and cut a piece of Orange Fizz.  She glued that down to a white card base and then watercolored a few purple splotches, using my SAI Watercolor Markers.  She then cut two butterflies using the Flutter of Butterflies dies.  Finally, she cut a hello out of Limelight using a Top Dog Dies die.  She matted it on white and then added a piece of fun foam behind it for even dimension.

Now for mine:

MFTCC44 MFTWSC279 Chews You

I purchased the Gumball MFT kit a few months back and hadn’t used it yet.  I was struggling with all of the bits and pieces to the machine.  For the color challenge, I thought this would be the perfect way to accomplish the colors and get a machine made.  I cut my gumballs with each of the color challenge colors – Orange Fizz, Grape Jelly, Grapesicle and Limelight.  My machine was cut in Grout Gray. I did opt for a shaker card and used one of the Shaker Pouches and filled it with some card stock gumballs.  Finally, I stamped a sentiment in VersaFine Onyx and embossed it.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Hope to see you again soon!

KG Creations – Way to Go NYC!

Hi!  Happy Friday!  I’m on the Kennedy Grace Creations blog today {for the first time} with a rather quick, clean and simple card!

KG Way to Go NYC3

I love being able to embrace the clean and simple style – especially when short on time!  For my card today, I used the Pink Champagne sequin mix and pulled out only the tiny pink sequins.  They matched perfectly with my skyline, which was watercolored with SAI Watercolor Markers.  If you like pink, you need this sequin mix!  So soft & pretty!  My daughter says the sequins look like little pink bubbles floating up from the skyline!  The sentiment is from Avery Elle’s Circle It set and is stamped with VersaFine Onyx and embossed with clear embossing powder.

Make sure you check out the Kennedy Grace Creations store and get your sequin mix fix!  Don’t forget to stop back next week for some exciting happenings — NEW sequin mixes and STAMPS!

Today is the blog hop for the February release and all of the new, gorgeous sequin mixes are available for purchase in the Kennedy Grace Creations store.

If you came here from the Kennedy Grace blog, you are on the right path.  If not, why not start there so you don’t miss anything!

KG Watermelon Love

For my card, I went clean and simple.  The new Watermelon Spritzer mix is just gorgeous — it’s a beautiful mix of watermelon sequins, two sizes of translucent/clear sequins and clear and gold round beads.  I used only the sequins on my card, as well as a few smaller sequins from Tinkerbelle’s Sparkle.  Now the watermelon sequins match perfectly with Berry Sorbet card stock from PTI.  For my card, I used a Berry Sorbet base and added a black panel with a Mega Mehndi Medallion (PTI) stamped & embossed with white embossing powder.  To that, I added a stack of love — I cut the MFT love die five times from Berry Sorbet and stacked them up.  I love to add dimension in that way.  Of course, then I added in my sequins to finish it off.   Love that pop of the sequins off the black card stock.

There is a prize giveaway, in honor of the blog hop & release.  Make sure you comment on each blog to increase your chances to win.  The winner will be announced on Monday on the Kennedy Grace Creations blog.

Your next stop on the blog hop is the talented Jessica — make sure you hop over there to see her gorgeous project.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Hope to see you again soon!

CTD379 Pink Paris

Hi all!  Happy Friday!  When I saw the current Color Throwdown challenge, I knew what I wanted to do.  First, here’s the swatch for this week.

CTD379 Swatch

And here’s my card…

CTD379 Pink Paris.jpg

If it appears that this is curving in, your eyes are not deceiving you.  My watercolor paper warped a lot and a night under my die bin didn’t help flatten it as I’d hoped.  But I love how it turned out!  I used my SAI watercolor markers to simply color a beautiful pink sky.  I then cut Paris out of Curious Metallic Gold Leaf.  I adhered the completed scene to a card base of Gold Leaf as well.  I stamped a sentiment from Tickled Pink in VersaFine Onyx and embossed it with clear embossing powder {This is my new fave way to do sentiments!!!}  Keeping it simple, I just added in a few sequins.

MFTWSC267 Adventurous Birthday

Hi all!  Happy Thursday {which is like Friday for our house since the kids are off for a long weekend!}!  I’ve been trying to keep up with the Daily Marker 30 Day coloring challenge and it helped me put together a card for the current MFT Weekly Sketch.

MFTWSC267 Adventure Birthday.jpg

I’d say I was inspired by the colors of the French flag, but in a very muted and more purple-y undertone.  My first piece was created with a Heidi Swapp stencil I picked up on clearance from Michaels.  I created the stripes with Shaded Lilac and Picked Raspberry (I think) Distress Inks on watercolor paper.  The next day I colored up Birdie Brown Adventure is Calling — of course, adventure would be fantastic in Paris!  When the MFT sketch came out yesterday, I knew I could work these in there.  I cut my striped piece with a Pierced Traditional Tag STAX die and cut a panel of Neenah Solar White with Blueprints 13.  I popped up Birdie Brown to the right of the tag and added a Sentiment Strip with Happy Birthday from You’re the Sweetest.  To finish it off, I added in two trios of sequins.

CTD376 Butterfly Friends

Hi all! I’m here again, squeaking in with a card for the current Color Throwdown challenge.  It ends tonight at 6, so I’m getting in just under the wire.

The color combo is aqua, pink, kraft and white.  It’s a combo that is right up my alley, but I had a block.  Finally, I came up with an idea today.  I used some SAI watercolor markers to color up a piece of watercolor paper randomly and then cut out a pair of gorgeous butterflies.  I cut a piece of Neenah Solar White with Blueprints 13 and then stamped a sentiment from Tickled Pink in VersaFine and embossed it with clear embossing powder.  I added that panel to a Kraft card base and then added my butterflies, pulling their wings up a touch from the card.  Some sequins finished it off!  LOVE these butterflies!
