Mother’s Day Basket

Hi all!  Happy Saturday!  Just a quick post — I’m knee deep in preparations for this Mother’s Day Mall/Craft Fair.  This is a lot of work!

As I’ve been making Mother’s Day cards, I pulled out a bunch of printed digis.  I had this adorable Spring Basket image from From the Heart ready to go.  I used the current i {heart} card sketches layout and it worked out really well.   For their “twist” on the challenge – a photo inspiration – I pulled some of the colors from the photos.

MFTWSC164 Happy Mother’s Day

Happy Monday!  A very quick post as I have lots to do today!  I squeaked in a little bit of crafting yesterday to make my weekly MFTWSC card and I combined it with this month’s MFT Color Palette Challenge.

When I pulled out my pack of neutrals from MFT, I only had a remainder strip of Kraft, so I went with it and made a smaller 3.5x5x5 card.  The patterned papers are from My Mind’s Eye Sunny, which worked nicely with Blu Raspberry & Lemon Drop.

MFTWSC120 Happy Mother’s Day!

Happy Mother’s Day!  We had a beautiful Sunday and spent the day at the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens. We have a bit of a tradition in going to botanical gardens — I guess because many of my favorite flowers bloom at this time of year — lilacs, tulips and peonies.  Today, after viewing so many extraordinary peonies, I said to my husband, why didn’t we get married in the spring?  We got married in the fall — not a time for any of my favorite flowers!  I wish pictures came with scratch & sniff because the smell of the lilacs was amazing!

Now, I have to admit, I’ve been a bit remiss about blogging lately.  I’ve had a bit a tough time getting back into a routine.  I have a bunch of past MFT sketch cards to share and I think I’ll just schedule the posts.

Today’s card is a lovely Mother’s Day card, which is unfortunately still on my desk,  made with the Sweet Roses set and dies from Lisa Johnson.

This isn’t my usual type of stamp set.  Usually I like the images to color, but when this set was released, I loved how it was used.  The dies are fantastic!  I stamped the flowers in MFT Electric Red and used Memento greens for the leaves.  The background is embossed with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots and I added a double party banner, embellished with red rhinestones.

Mother’s Day Trio

Hi all!  A quick post — I’m typing this up while my kids have ice skating lessons.  Thank goodness for wi-fi!  I have mother’s day cards to share — of course, they’ll be late as they are still on my table.  I’m perpetually late with cards.

For my mom and mother-in-law, I used the MOM flower word image from Bugaboo.  Instead of coloring in the ms, I paper pieced them.  The layout is an old MFT sketch.

Here is a close up of each card.

For my Grandma I used the Mom Flower Trio image and created a sweet pink card.  Unfortunately, I didn’t get a clear picture of this card, so I apologize for the blurriness.

Maybe next year I can get them out on time.  LOL!

Tiffany Doodles — A Doodle Bloom for Mom

Happy Saturday!  Hope you all are having a fabulous weekend!  Ours looks to be quite busy with some puppy proofing and other home improvement projects.  Hopefully some stamping time squeezed in and lots of productiveness!

Today starts a new Tiffany Doodles challenge.  If you are familiar with Tiffany’s images, you know she has a fabulous selection of flower images in the store.  So this month, we are challenging you to show your “Flower Power” — we’d love to see your favorite Tiffany Doodles images if you have them.

With the addition of our puppy, I’ve been behind all week.  I needed Mother’s Day cards for my mom and mother-in-law so this was the perfect use for one of Tiffany’s Doodle Blooms flowers.  My card features a flower from Volume I of the Doodle Blooms.  I used some of my favorite colors — Berry Sorbet and New Leaf — unfortunately, this didn’t photograph well and it looks rather drained of color, but it is so pretty IRL.  To mat the flower, I cut out two lacey circles and then cut the one side of the green circle.  Then I intertwined them together, giving an awesome effect.  A nice bow with button and some pearls finished it off nicely.

Make sure you check out the other fabulous creations from the Tiffany Doodles design team. Then, we’d love to see what you come up with — just link up your NEW creation to the Tiffany Doodles blog by May 21st.

My Favorites of 2010 – April, May, June

Hey all!  Continuing on with my favorites of 2010 today!  I was busier in these months, so I have more than one card or project for each month.

Make a Wish

The colors and papers just make me smile!

Quite Contrary Cake Time

This card was part of the set of cards I gave to the presechool my kids attend.  I love the paper piecing of the Wee One’s dress.  Plus, that yummy My Mind’s Eye Quite Contrary paper.

Sage & Brocade Birthday Wishes
This was another card for the fundraiser and I love how these blues & greens look.  A perfect little boy card.

Survival Kit – Happy Mother’s Day
I made a “Man’s Card Survival Kit” for the fundraiser as well.  This was the Mother’s Day card I included and I love how it turned out.

Peeking at Summer

This was the perfect combo of pinks & cuteness for me!  Love these little Summertime Peekers from Bugaboo.

The Cherry on Top
Love the way this cherry themed gift set turned out.  My husband loved that there were candies up for grabs after I made the basket.  LOL!

Teacher Appreciation Baskets
When your children are in preschool and there are 4-5 aides + a teacher per class, you need reasonable gifts.  These were the end of year gifts — the baskets are wonderfully easy to put together and they turned out great.

Underwater Friends
These little guys from Tiffany Doodles are so cute and I love the Bermuda Bay & Hawaiian Shores together.

A Jacobean Bird
I guess you could say I really like Bermuda Bay!  This card is by far one of my favorites for 2010.  Love the Bermuda Bay and Pretty in Pink together.  So, so pretty!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!I’ll be back tomorrow with July, August and September.

Survival Kit – Happy Mother’s Day

If you are looking for my There She Goes Mother of all Blog Hops post, please click HERE.

A late Happy Mother’s Day to all of you moms! We had an unusually cold & very windy day here. We’ve started a tradition of going to a botanical garden on Mother’s Day, but postponed it due to the weather.

Tonight I have the final card from my Man’s Survival Card Kit and the complete set. For the Mother’s Day card, I used PaperTrey Ink’s Delightful Dahlia set and the coordinating dies. I have to say that I really didn’t want to like these dies. My wish list is long enough as it is and adding in yet another tool — good grief! But, after watching Nichole’s how to video, I found that I really love this set in particular.

The outcome of this card thrilled me! I actually told myself I would like to receive a card like this! LOL! I love the add in black for an elegant twist, so I paired Hibiscus Burst with Basic Black. The dahlias and leaves are colored with Copics and popped up on dimensionals. Each center has a tiny bit of Martha Stewart Kunzite glitter. A gorgeous bow of Hibiscus Burst satin finished it off.

For the complete set, I needed to make up some sort of holder. I recently bought the Martha Stewart scoring board (liked the Scor-Pal, but I am measurement challenged, so the MS board really works for me) and there is a list of basic box measurements included with it. This really comes in handy. For the Survival Kit, I made up a 6x6x3 box.

The box is Chocolate Chip and Bashful Blue. I decorated the top with Chocolate Chip and a fantastic piece of patterned paper from DCWV At Home. I printed out a label on Very Vanilla and cut it out with the largest Labels 8 Nestie. A few Dew Drops finished it off.

And here is a shot of the complete set.

Both sets of my cards were won by a friend. She was unable to be there, but sent her husband. He was so happy to get them — he said had he not, he would have needed to buy an “I’m Sorry” card from the winner! LOL!
