MFT Summer School – Rule of Thirds & Line

Hi all!  I’m squeaking in with two cards today for the MFT Summer School lessons.

First up, is my card for the Rule of Thirds lesson, which was the first lesson.

I started with a Grout Gray card base and a panel of Neenah Solar White cut with Blueprints 13.  I cut a rainbow from the traditional rainbow colors and a pair of clouds.  I added sequins to my clouds.  After piecing my rainbow together and gluing it down, I popped up my glitzy clouds at each end.  The sentiment is from the Ala Mode set of the same name.

To see how I decided upon my card layout, here’s my rainbow on my grid of thirds.

Next up is my card for the line lesson.  I’ve been playing with my cover plates quite a bit lately and decided I wanted to create my lines in the Hugs & Kisses cover up plate.

So I cut my Hugs & Kisses cover up plate four times — Neenah Solar White, Razzle Berry, Pink Lemonade and Bubblegum.  When I cut it with the white, I was fortunate that most of the x & o stayed in the die cut.  I taped up the back side with scotch tape over the rows I wanted to keep (and replaced any x & o that fell out).  Then I added in rows of pink.  I stamped “miss you” from the Written in Watercolor set in Razzle Berry twice with my MISTI for a nice crisp sentiment.  It sits within a Stitched Circle Frame of Razzle Berry.  To finish it off, I added in sequins in all of the o centers in a complimentary color.

Kaboodle Doodles #70 — Mystical Creatures

Good Morning! Happy Monday!  It is very hard to believe my kids only have 10 & 13 days of school left.  I’m going to try and get as much done in those last days as possible, as I know once they are out, my crafting time is going to have a major kink in it.

Today starts a new Kaboodle Doodles challenge.  We are sponsored this week by Whoopsi Daisy and 2 sheets (8 images) from the store are up for grabs.  Our theme this week is mythical creatures — fairies, unicorns, angels, etc.

There are so many wonderfully adorable fairy images from Whoopsi Daisy.  I colored up this cutie from sheet 199, not really knowing what designer papers I’d go with.  When I sat down to make the card, I found that Rich Razzleberry & Soft Sky looked awesome together, along with the really fun & colorful dots from Echo Park Summer Days.  The layout is from an old Create 4 Fun sketch.

We’d love to have you play along with us this week. Just upload your NEW project with a mythical creature to the Kaboodle Doodles blog with a DIRECT LINK to your blog post (not just your blog).

Sending you Love

Kaboodle Doodles — #61 Let’s Get Girly

Hi all!  We should have some warmer temperatures around here this week.  Some April showers to boot, but I’ll take it if I can get to pack away the winter coats soon!

So today marks the start of a new Kaboodle Doodles challenge and we are challenging you to get girly!  Our sponsor this week is Whoopsi Daisy and they are offering 2 sheets of images (8 images) from their store.  Definitely lots of fun, girly images to chose from there!

I used this sweet fairy from sheet #220 from Whoopsi Daisy.  The papers provided my color pallet.  The designer papers are from Kaisercraft Candy Lane.  This pack of paper is super sweet.  I matched it up with New Leaf and Raspberry Fizz.  I love the contrast of the pink and green.

You can’t see it from the photo, but I highlighted her skirt with Smooch Illuminate, as well as her wing.  I stamped a sentiment from Mega Mixed Messages (PTI) to finish it off.

TPS#4 – Charming Day

Good Morning!  Have you recovered from daylight saving time?  I think I oversleep every year after the change.  I’ve heard many people say “we should just do away with it.”  I think I might agree!

So today I have a card for the latest The Paper Shelter challenge.  The challenge was to add a charm to your project and/or give it a St. Patrick’s Day twist.  Since I actually picked up some charms when I was in NYC the other week, adding a charm was the perfect way to go.

I decided to use Sophie in the Country — she’s so cute!  I colored her up, cut her out with Labels 8 and then sponged grass & sky around her.  Now, did you ever go rolling through the grass or down a hill as a kid (or maybe you still do it)?  Sophie was definitely rolling in the grass, as she has some stains on her shirt and feet — in other words, I thought I could sponge closely without getting the ink on her, but I was wrong.  LOL!  I’ve used this layout before, actually with my first The Paper Shelter card.  It’s a great way to feature some designer paper.  I thought Sophie might be thinking about someone she’s missing, so I added a “Miss You” sentiment, as well as some butterflies and pearls.  My charm is on my bow.
