Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!  I hope 2016 is a very Sweet ’16 for all of you!  I’m getting some crafting time in my room with my daughter today and am playing with some new goodies from MFT.  I have been trying to have a bit more willpower in buying new supplies, but did make a purchase on the last MFT 25% off sale.  I picked up some discontinued inks and some card stock, as well as the Paris and New York Skyline Border dies.  I’ve had them on my wish list since they came out and I’m so happy to have them in my hands!

During the winter months, I can see parts of the NYC skyline {a bit obstructed, mind you} from our house.  The sunrises over the city are frequently quite stunning and that was my inspiration for this card.  I started with a panel of Neenah Solar White cut with Blueprints 13, of course.  I then blended inks from Amuse {Blush, Berry, Bellini and Sky} and Mama Elephant Orangeade.  After letting that dry a bit, I stamped Happy New Year from Jaded Blossom  Happy New Year in Versafine Onyx and embossed with clear embossing powder.  Then I added in my skyline, which was cut from Black Licorice card stock.  To complete the front, I added in some small star rhinestones for a bit of twinkle.  Inside is another panel of Solar White cut with Blueprints 13 and I stamped an additional sentiment from the same Jaded Blossom set.

Thank You…..MISTI

Hi all!  Today I have the card that came to be with my first use of my MISTI.  The stamp is from Mama Elephant’s Filigree set.  I LOVE this stamp — it’s so beautiful, but I have an awful time with it. I never get a fully stamped, clean image with it.  I think it’s in part to my lack of arm strength due to surgeries, which was one of the big reasons I went for the MISTI.

On Friday,  I inked it up with Lemon Drop ink from MFT and gave it a go with my MISTI.  The first pass did get me about 90% stamped.  I did it a second time and got the final portion to stamp.  If it wasn’t for my MISTI, I would have been chucking some more card stock in the recycling.

Because this is such a detailed and gorgeous image, I kept the card very CAS.  I stamped the inside with one of the small sentiments from the set.  I added some gold sequins and voila!  I think this would be a gorgeous card set, in a variety of colors, all featuring this beautiful doily and the simple sentiments from the set.  Guess I know what my next project is going to be!

HYCCT1312 October Filigree

Happy Friday!  I’m looking forward to the weekend.  We have my annual Christmas card-making get-together with my friends Michele, Claudia and our lovely new addition this year, Cornelia.  Then we have family pictures as part of a PTA fundraiser.  We haven’t had a family photo taken by anyone other than the camera timer or a quick unplanned snapshot since my son was a year!

Today I have my card for the HYCCT challenge to feature the colors of October based on birthstones and flowers– pink, green, yellow and a touch of shimmer for the opal birthstone.

When this challenge was posted, I had attended a fun stamping event for Mama Elephant in Hoboken (which is where I met Cornelia!).  Michele is a big fan of Mama Elephant and after attending the event, I can see why.  They have so many fun sets!  I was good and only purchased one set — the fantastic Filigree set — but was lucky enough to win a prize with another set and a pair of their fabulous ink pads.

When I arrived home after the event, I was excited to ink up this set right away and worked it into the challenge of the day.  I love the big, lacy doily image.  I stamped it three times featuring the colors on Cryogen, which has that lovely shimmer.  I wanted this to be a very simple card, so I added in a bow of Organdy ribbon, which also has some shimmer and a vintage shimmery button from my mom’s sewing stash.  That fun sentiment is also included in the Filigree set!
