You’re Aces With Me!

Hi all!  Happy Friday!  I have a very clean and simple card today, featuring a fantastic Birdbrain image from From the Heart Stamps.  It breaks my heart that we lost Faith in July and I think of her every time I see or use one of her fabulous images.

You're Aces With Me

Out of Faith’s images, the Birdbrains were always my favorites.  I used the Birdbrain Card Sharks here and made it the focal point of the entire card panel.  {There are 11 sentiments to choose from in this set!}  I colored up my birds in a variety of grays — hoping this works for the current Color Throwdown challenge of red, black and white.  The only addition I made was some Diamond Glaze to their eyeballs (my Glossy Accents EXPLODED everywhere — OY what a mess!).

One Special Person…

Hi all!  I’m excited to have a card for the latest MFT Card Challenge sketch again!  Two weeks in a row!!

MFTWSC349 EC Ski Anniversary

A very special couple is celebrating their anniversary this weekend.  This quote from Rita Rudner {CS About Anniversaries – retired} is perfect for them! I stamped the Romantic Script Background stamp in Grout Gray on a piece of white cardstock, cut with Blueprints 13.  I cut two Pierced Traditional Tag STAX {retired} from Smokey Shadow and Soft Stone {PTI} and stamped the Rita Rudner quote in Steel Grey.  I then cut three small Pierced Fishtail Flags {also retired}.  A trio of little rhinestones and pearls finished it off, keeping it rather simple for mailing.

Aud Sentiments Challenge — #188 Anything Goes + Sentiment

LOVE – 2 Ways

30 day sept 2017.png

Hi all! I’m so happy to be back into a crafty groove in a more frequent basis.  It snuck up on me a bit quick, but the latest 30 Day Coloring Challenge started yesterday.  I didn’t get to color yesterday, but today I was able to get some really needed crafty therapy.

Sept 30 Day 2 Blending

Today I opted for some Distress Ink blending.  I finally picked up some Bristol cardstock after watching some Jennifer McGuire videos.  I really love how the inks blend so smoothly on it.  I used Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry, Abandoned Coral and Ripe Persimmon in my blend.

On a trip to Michaels today, I picked up a Recollections die {the word love} that I’d been eyeing for quite a few trips.  Since I had a 50% off coupon, I decided to get it today.  It’s a big die – basically covering a full card and would work really well on scrapbooking pages.   So I cut the love out of my blended piece, planning to make two cards with it.

Blended Love Shaker

First up was a shaker card.  I LOVE this script and the size.  After cutting the word out, the little bits for the l, o and e remained in the die, which was great.  I adhered a piece of overhead transparency to the back right away and brushed it with my embossing powder tool.  I then flipped the piece over and placed the love into the die cut.  Prior to placing the love into the cut, I added just a touch of liquid glue to the little bits.  Using a pick me up tool, I pressed out those little bits and then pulled the die back up with the love still intact.  I then added a bunch of foam tape around the love and edges to create the zone for the sequins.  Once I had the desired amount inside, I placed the card over the panel.  To complete it, I added just a few additional sequins to the front.

Love Shaker

I really LOVE the vibrancy of the blended colors!

Love xs and os

For a second and very quick card, I used the actual die cut to create a very clean and simple card.  I cut a panel of white cardstock with the Blueprints 13 frame.  I stamped a sentiment from the current Xs and Os card kit from MFT in VersaFine Onyx ink with my MISTI.  I embossed that with clear embossing powder — my favorite way to do sentiments.  I added some liquid glue around the back of the love and placed it on that panel.  I popped that entire panel up with a piece of fun foam on a white card base.  Again, I added a handful of sequins to finish it off.

Two rather quick cards and I LOVE how they turned out!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Hope to see you again soon!

LOVE Always Wins

Hi all!  It’s been a very long time since I participated in one of the weekly MFT sketch challenges.   Today was as good as any to put together a card for the current challenge.

MFTWSC348 Love Always Wins

I used Distress Inks to blend up a rainbow background on Bristol cardstock.  I cut it out with a Vertical Stitched Strips die {retired} and cut an additional panel with a Horizontal Stitched Strip die {retired}.  The rainbow panel is glued down to a Blueprints 13 frame.  On the Horizontal Stitched Strip panel, I stamped a sentiment from the Xs and Os card kit stamp set in VersaFine Onyx ink.  The sentiment was then embossed with clear embossing powder.   For my rainbow panel, I glued four tic tac toe boards together to get a bit of dimension.  I cut a bunch of hearts from the remainder of the rainbow panel and doubled up the ones within the board.  Finally, I added in a trio outside of the board to finish it off.  All of that is glued down to a Grout Gray card base.

Welcome Back From the Heart!

Welcome to our From the Heart Stamps blog hop. We have a Love and Friendship Theme this month. Our designers are each showing a project created with this theme.

If you have arrived from Calypso, you are in the right place, if not why don’t you start on the From the Heart Stamps blog, so you don’t miss anything.

Here is my project, using In My Heart Birdbrainfeb-blog-hop-birdbrain

I kept this very simple in the design.  My creative mojo likes to play hide & seek and has been hidden for quite some time.  I colored up my Birdbrains with Copics and cut them out with Stitched Circle Frames.  For my background, I picked a pair of black & white patterned papers and cut them out with Vertical Stitched Strips.  When I put it all together, I added Wink of Stella to the heart and used a fine multi-liner to outline the eyelids.  Finally, to add just a bit of embellishment, I added a trio of tiny red heart rhinestones above their heads.

Now head over to Doni and see what she has created. As you hop along, leave a comment on each blog. We will select a random winner from the comments on each blog and on the FTHS blog to win one image of your choice.

Our hop will end on Sunday, February 5, 2017 at 6 am, and the winners will be posted on Wednesday, February 8th.

Thanks for hopping with us today.

Sending BIG Hugs

Hi all!  I’m happy to be here with something new to share!  Not only is this the first thing I’ve made this year, but it is also a new image from Faith at From the Heart Stamps.  Faith has been battling cancer since the summer and she was able to get some drawing in recently.  This absolutely adorable sweet bunny is available in the shop as a freebie!  Hopefully, Faith continues to feel well enough to draw more and share her wonderful talent with us all!

{Yes, that is my Christmas tree behind the card.  It’s still up — the advantage of having an artificial tree and since it is white, I’m not rushing to take it down. 🙂 }

Isn’t she just the cutest?  I printed my bunny with one of the four sentiments included in the set.  She’s colored with Copics, keeping it quite subtle to allow for that pop with the heart.  I added some Wink of Stella to the heart to add just a touch of shimmer.  The panel is cut out with Blueprints 13 and it’s added to a Soft Stone card base.  Finally, I added in sequin trios to finish it off.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Maybe I’ll manage to make it back again in January!

HUGS,

FTHS – Mouse-y Orange

Hi all!  I’m here with midweek inspiration for From the Heart Stamps.  I used the current sketch and am very happy that its a CAS sketch!  {I’m in the process of rearranging my craft room and getting ready to paint it, which equals absolute chaos!}

FTHS148 Mousey Orange

I colored up the sweet Love You Mouse last week, opting to give the mouse an orange flower.  For this super simple sketch & layout, I cut my white panel with Blueprints 13 and cut out the mouse with a Zig Zag Stitched Square STAX die.  I chose three orange patterned washi tapes and added them to my white panel.  I then popped up the mouse on a piece of fun foam for some dimension.  Finally, I added in some sequins and voila!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Hope to see you again soon!
