Sweet 16 of 2016

Hello!  Yes, it’s been a very long time!  I didn’t intend to take such a long absence, but it just kind of happened.  2016 was a big year for many reasons.  My family was finally able to put a plan to move into action and we moved back to my home state of Wisconsin.  It happened rather quick, even after trying to make it a reality for years.  No matter how you slice it, moving is always stressful, crazy and difficult!  We are renting an apartment so that we can take our time to find the right house in the right neighborhood.  I’ve lost my dedicated crafting space, which is a big reason you haven’t seen a lot from me.  {Four humans and a big dog in a 2 bedroom apartment can be interesting, to say the least!}  I can’t promise there will be an uptick in posts coming in 2017, but there just might be.  🙂

Before I get on to the Sweet 16, if you are looking for me and I’m not blogging, you are likely to find me more often on Instagram or my Facebook page for PRT.

Anyway, I wanted to end the year with my Sweet 16 for 2016.  Here we go, in chronological order:

I was thrilled with how this BIG burger turned out!  Coloring can be daunting sometimes!

This is counting as one of the sweet 16!  My kiddos have gerbils and these were little cards from the gerbils to their humans.  Unfortunately, we lost Sandy on Halloween.  Smokey is still with us and my daughter now has Dusty — a gerbil who looks almost the same as Sandy.

FTHS139 Hoppy Birthday take 3

My husband’s birthday card and again, I was thrilled with the coloring.

Sophisticated Script Hello

I absolutely adore the Concord & 9th Sophisticated Script alphabet set.  It is a brilliant concept and I used it a lot — I made over 100 name tags for students in the PTA Art Show with this alpha and they turned out really well.  This was such a super CAS & quick card in some of my favorite colors.

FTHS Knit Happens

Again, coloring and a Birdbrain.  Love the rich & warm colors.

FTHS142 Keep Calm

This was super fun as well!  Homemade enamel dots!

KG April Color Prayers

KG Hello Paris

A pair of watercolor cards for Kennedy Grace Creations.  Love the clean lines of the thoughts and prayers card and love the watercolor background for the Eiffel Tower.

MFTCC44 Ainsley Hello

This is a card of my daughter’s — she pulled it all together on her own and it’s a great card!

KGC Hydrangea Birthday

Purples are not my favorite, but this came out really spot on!

FTHS154 Hot Chick

Flossie the Flamingo {I felt the need to name her!}

FTHS158 Cold One

Love the monochromatic grays!  I finally gave my husband this card in November!

KGC Coral Rose Love tray up top

This was part of the staging of our house to sell it.  I put this little tray in our bedroom, pulling in the colors of the room.  It was quite love-ly.

These were tags for teacher thank you gifts and I love how they turned out.  They popped a punch and were quick & simple!

My niece was married in September and this was my card for the newlyweds.  It was also my entry to the MFT Card Design Superstar contest.

Orange is definitely not a favorite color of mine, but this turned out quite well.  Love the addition of the gold.

So there you have it!  My Sweet 16 of 2016!  I hope 2017 brings you prosperity, health, happiness and lots of crafty time!

HUGS ~~ Cammy

FTHS150 & May Blog Hop

Hi all!  Sorry for the absence — I’ve had a busy week painting rooms in our house, including my pink room {it’s still pink}, but I’m still trying to put it back together.

Today is our May blog hop for From the Heart Stamps and our theme is Pigging Out, featuring the PigWits!

As you hop along, please leave a comment on each blog. One random commenter will be selected on each blog to win an image of choice from the FTHS store.

We are having a little twist this month! Some of our designers are adding ribbon to their projects. As you move through the hop, count up how many of the designers chose to use ribbon on their project. Email your answer to Faith: (faith@fromtheheartstamps.com) for a chance to win a $15 voucher to the FTHS store!

If you have arrived from Brenda, you are in the right place, if not why don’t you start on the From the Heart Stamps blog, so you don’t miss anything.

Here is my project, using Hamlet PigWit Being Shy.

FTHS150 PigWit Swine

I colored up Hamlet using Copics and cut him out using the largest Stitched Circle Frame die.  My layout is this week’s sketch, just on a square card vs rectangular.  I opted for a Grout Gray base so I cut an additional frame in Grout Gray.  The polka dotted papers are from American Crafts Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm.  I then added in some sequins.

Now head over to Doni and see what she has created.

Thanks for hopping with us today. The hop will end on Sunday May 8th at 6 am EST. Winners will be posted on the From the Heart Stamps Blog on Wednesday May 11th.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Hope to see you again soon!

The Pencil Case — Red & Pink

FTHS147 Hello, Monday

Hi all!  Happy Monday!  My kiddos are on spring break this week and we are hoping for some SPRING weather to do some stay-cation fun things.  I know it isn’t just the East Coast having the whacky weather and I really wish Mother Nature would figure it out!

Today is the new sketch over at From the Heart Stamps.  Our tWist is to use lots of patterned paper and I was able to do both the sketch & the tWist.

FTHS147 Monday Coffee

I absolutely love the Birdbrain Chick!  There are so many fun images in the store.  I colored Birdbrain Needs Coffee up and fussy cut him.  {A great tip for fussy cut images: I trace around the edges with a black Flair marker to cover up any white of the card stock.}  The patterned papers are from PaperTrey Ink {from a million moons ago, it seems!}.  I’ve decided I need to use up at least some of my ribbon. I pulled out this wide suede-like chocolate ribbon and tied a big bow.  I added in a sentiment from the set and popped it up on fun foam.  Then I finished it off with some sequins and gave Birdbrain some glazed over eyes with Glossy Accents.

Hope you get to play along with us this week!  Remember, each participant receives a $1.00 credit to the From the Heart Stamps store!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Hope to see you again soon!

HYCCT1409 Nagging Gus

Happy Monday!  My kids have a short week due to teacher convention so I’m going to keep this brief.  I finished all of my HYCCT cards yesterday! YEAH!! They are all packaged and ready to ship off to MD Anderson.

Today’s card is for HYCCT1409 “Laughter is the Best Medicine.”  Since the card is quite simple, I’m going to just share a funny from when I was undergoing chemo — I would take Sex & The City or Love Actually with me to watch.  The chemo was delivered in private rooms with a door and it would seem the nurses would always come in at the most inopportune time, if you know what I mean!  LOL!  We had lots of fun conversations about the show and movie!

For my card, I pulled out Frame It Gus – her nagging.  I love these frame it images, but can never match them up to my nestabilites.  So I opted to just print, color and cut out my main front panel, going with a very CAS design.  Quick & simple!  Hope someone gets a good giggle from this one!

Happy Birthday, Old Fart!

Happy Friday!  How’s the weekend looking?  I’m looking forward to a much more relaxed version.  Last weekend was jam packed with 2 birthday parties, a Girl Scout cookie sale/booth, a brunch and a movie night for the kids and some friends for Harry Potter & The Goblet of Fire.  It’s hard to regroup from the week when you are constantly on the go!

Today I have a goofy Gus card!  I’m using the Sketch ‘n Stash sketch for this week and I pulled Gus from my stash of colored images.

Gus was already colored up, obviously, and I paired him up with some Kaisercraft Jungle Bug papers.  I added some Glossy Accents to his glasses a a pair of rhinestones to his headlights.  The sentiment is computer generated as I couldn’t find the sentiment that goes with this Gus image (Growing old is mandatory….growing old is optional).

‘Tis the Season for a Cosmo

Hi all!  Happy Wednesday!  We are headed off to the pool this morning to get some relief from the heat.  I can tell the temperature is causing the temperaments to be less than fun!  Lots of bickering and lots of yelling! UGH!

Today’s Catch the Bug Christmas in July challenge is to make a funny card.  Jodie has no shortage of funny images and sentiments in the shop to accomplish this.

If you’ve followed my blog and/or my Bugaboo posts, you’ll know that JJ has always been one of my favorite characters.  I opted for JJ Christmas – Cheers for my card.  There’s a lot of inferred humor here — I know many for whom the Christmas season is one big lush party.  So, JJ is ready to party or maybe she was LOL!  She has her little red dress on, sassy boots with rhinestone “buttons”, fishnet stockings and has spilled a wee bit of her Cosmopolitan.  I was trying to come up with a really witty and funny sentiment, but my brain was not cooperating.  Instead, I stamped ‘Tis the Season from PTI’s Signature Christmas set — say that tongue in cheek and I think the humor is there!

If I went braless…

Hi all!  Happy Saturday!  We potentially have a hurricane/tropical storm heading our way! YUCK!  I’m not really looking forward to the rain or wind.  Hopefully, it won’t be as bad as predicted and the kids will actually get to trick or treat on Halloween, instead of a week later like last year.  At least it isn’t coinciding with chemo, as it was last year!

Today is another challenge over at Catch the Bug.  It’s a recipe challenge — use 1 circle and 3 brads.

I had this hilarious Stella Peeker – Braless image ready to go on my desk.  It’s perfect for October with it being Breast Cancer Awareness month. Going braless is one of the very FEW perks of going through a double mastectomy. I  definitely would NOT recommend going through this to get out of wearing a bra, KWIM?!  I’m combining this with the HYCCT challenge You Had Me In Stitches.  My stitches are on the bra straps, which were part of the image.  I paper pieced Stella’s bra and added some sparkle on the ruffle trim.
