CTD376 Butterfly Friends

Hi all! I’m here again, squeaking in with a card for the current Color Throwdown challenge.  It ends tonight at 6, so I’m getting in just under the wire.

The color combo is aqua, pink, kraft and white.  It’s a combo that is right up my alley, but I had a block.  Finally, I came up with an idea today.  I used some SAI watercolor markers to color up a piece of watercolor paper randomly and then cut out a pair of gorgeous butterflies.  I cut a piece of Neenah Solar White with Blueprints 13 and then stamped a sentiment from Tickled Pink in VersaFine and embossed it with clear embossing powder.  I added that panel to a Kraft card base and then added my butterflies, pulling their wings up a touch from the card.  Some sequins finished it off!  LOVE these butterflies!

FTHS136 It’s Your Big Day!

Hi all!  Happy Monday!  Were you affected by Winter Storm Jonas?  Probably the last time I use Bring It on a card featuring a Birdbrain shoveling.  LOL!  I don’t mind the snow at all — the kids are upset they are getting it on a weekend and not during the week for a snow day.  They’ll get over that as soon as they get outside and play.

I’m back today with another card for the new From the Heart Stamps/ I {heart} Sketches sketch.  I initially made this, thinking it would be for my husband’s birthday, but opted to send it to my uncle, who turned 50 last week.

The Birthday Burger Birdbrain was perfect for a milestone birthday.  The burger is so much fun to color!  Since this I printed my image larger, I opted to go for a square card.  After coloring with Copics, I cut the image out with a Zig Zag Square STAX die.  I cut one additional square from Pure Poppy (PTI) and then cut a slightly larger square from Orange Zest.  My card base is Kraft.  The sentiment was added prior to printing and to set it off, I added two silver ball embellishments from my stash.
The tWist this week is to do Shabby Chic/Vintage.  As you can see, I didn’t utilize the tWist.  LOL!  Hope you get a chance to play along with us this week!  Don’t forget, you get a $1 credit to the store just for participating!

FTHS135 Bring It

Hi all!  Happy Monday!  I’m back today with another From the Heart Stamps/I {heart} Sketches sketch card.

We’ve had a very mild winter so far and only yesterday had more than a few flurries.  Now, we had less than 1 inch of snow and the town was saying it was a substantial snowfall.  Substantial?  Come on!

Bring it!  Mother Nature has not, to this point of January, brought the winter weather!  I am really loving the Birdbrains.  I printed the No Snow Birdbrain on PTI Stampers Select card stock and colored her in with Copics.  I cut her out with a Stitched Circle STAX die and then added a bunch of glittery {clean!} snow to her shovel and pile with Martha Stewart course glitter.  My card base is Dark Chocolate (PTI).  I pulled out some fun designer papers and cut the polka dotted green paper with Blueprints 13 and another patterned strip with a Fishtail Flags STAX.  Additionally, I cut a piece of Dark Chocolate with a Horizontal Stitched Strip die.  Finally, I cut the sentiment {I LOVE that font!} with the same Fishtail Flags STAX.  My Birdbrain panel is popped up on dimensionals, but I left it without further embellishments in order for the glitter snow to take the focus.  The tWist this week is to add some nature and I’m counting that snow as my nature! 🙂
Hope you get the chance to play along with us this week!  Make sure you stop by the From the Heart Stamps to see the other design team members’ takes on the sketch.

Flurry of Love

Hi all!  Some crafty friends and I participate in a very small card swap.  Our theme for December was a shaker card.  I’m finally getting mine in the mail tomorrow — It didn’t take a long time to complete them, but finding the time was another story!

I used my We R Memory Keepers Fuse Tool to create the shaker pocket and a relatively flat shaker card.  I filled it with snowflake sequins, star sequins of various sizes and colors and some micro beads.  The pocket fits perfectly behind the large Rectangle Frame die from MFT {I used the stitched frame from Blueprints 13 as a guideline for creating the pocket.}  Each frame is cut from a piece of Basic Grey designer paper.  I die cut and stamped three of the sweet Birdie Brown Warmest Wishes on Neenah Solar White and colored them with Copics.  The sentiment is stamped on a Pierced Fishtail Flags STAX.  I did pop up Birdie Brown and added a pearl to her matching paper pieced scarf and some Stickles to her hat.   She’s very sweet!

FTHS #134 Warm Winter Wishes…

Hi all!  Happy Monday!  Hopefully, this will be a easier Monday than last Monday!  Has your post-holiday hangover warn off?  We finally took down our tree yesterday and boy, did it leave behind a slew of needles!  It was very warm here yesterday — rained a boat load, but very warm.  It’s been a very odd winter so far!

Today I have a card for the new I {heart} sketches challenge with From the Heart Stamps.  My card uses the current Stamp of the Month stamp  – Cozy Kittens – and it is an adorable one! If you aren’t familiar with the SOTM, check it out here for details!

Aren’t they adorable?  Now, I will admit my animal coloring skills are not very honed and this was a struggle for me.  I think I eeked it out and they work.  I added my sentiment prior to printing and when I was done coloring, I cut it out with a Stitched Circle STAX die.  The tWist this week is to add dots and stripes.  I found some fun and cute Kaisercraft papers in my stash to use with the tWist and matched them up with Melon Mambo card stock.  For the three strips, I used pink and green twine to complete that panel.
Hope you find the time to play along with us this week!

Happy 11th Birthday!

Hi all!  Happy Weekend!  My daughter has a sleepover to go to tonight for her bestie’s 11th birthday.  It’s a ’50s themed party — the girls love Grease and my daughter was hoping for a poodle skirt, but I couldn’t quite accomplish that.  I did manage to pull out an old skirt of mine {you know, the pre-children clothes!}, which reminds me of one that Rizzo would wear and a plain yellow tee, along with a “neckerchief” and black flats.  She’d still love a poodle skirt and a Pink Ladies jacket! {Just like me because this has long since a favorite movie of mine!}

Anyway, I made up a card today for the birthday girl and it turned out quite cute.

I was going to color up a sweet image that the birthday girl liked, but I just didn’t have time.  So I opted for some Top Dog Dies dies.  {Unfortunately, they are no longer available, as TDD closed in December.}
Using Make a Cake, I cut the cake from Melon Mambo (SU) with a white icing trim.  I cut two candles from Harvest Gold (PTI).  The candles fit perfectly behind two number 1 candles, cut with the High Rise Numbers from MFT {also, unavailable, sorry!} and I was able to make it appear like the numbers are the candles.  Then I cut my banner sticks from Kraft and the Happy Birthday banner from Nightshift Blue (MFT) and Melon Mambo.  To finish off the front, I added in some pearly embellishments — since I’m not mailing it, I can use some of these bulkier embellies!

Since I had an additional happy birthday banner set, I added them to the inside panel to complete the card.

FTHS #133 – Black, White and Green

Hi all!  Happy Monday!  Or is it “ugh, it’s Monday, the first day back after the holidays?”  {As I’m typing this up on Sunday, I’m sure it will be a mix in our household tomorrow.  My husband has been off of work and the kids have been home from school.  So everyone is back to getting up early.}   We are back from a holiday break at From the Heart Stamps, too.  There’s a great new I {heart} sketches sketch up for you today.

This sweet little Wind Blown Penguin is perfect for the twist on this week’s sketch.  The twist this week is black, white and one other color.  I opted for green and I love how this turned out.  It isn’t my usual pick for a black & white + one combo.  I colored up my penguin and his balloons with Copics and cut him out with a Stitched Circle STAX.  My card base is black and topped with a panel of Neenah Solar White, cut with Blueprints 13 and then embossed with Cuttlebug Swiss Dots.  I then cut a Pierced Rectangle STAX of black and topped that with a piece of polka dotted green from Jillibean Soup.  Two double cut Pierced Fishtail flags under the popped up penguin panel finish the panel.  Finally to add a touch of sparkle, I added some sparkly Stickles ice and two trios of sequins.
