MFT Card Design Superstar

Hi all!  Sorry for the long absence!  Lots of adulting going on and not a lot of crafting!  However, I did carve out a bit of time the other day to create a wedding card for my niece and thought it would be a great way to have a card to enter into the MFT Card Design Superstar contest.

I pulled out a lot of my favorite MFT products to create this card.  I started by cutting a piece of Black Licorice card stock, which I then scored and further cut with Blueprints 16.  Then I cut an additional piece of Black Licorice with little flap die from Blueprints 16. This was then glued down, creating my pocket card.   I then used my MISTI to stamp the Lace Background with Versamark ink and embossed it with clear embossing powder.  To build onto the card, I cut the largest Circle Stitched Frame die with cream card stock, as well as the pieces of the Bride & Groom.

While I had my Lace Background stamp in the MISTI, I also stamped my wedding dress and embossed it as well with clear embossing powder.  I positioned my circle frame to be just above the curve.  The tuxedo and dress were glued down, adding in some rhinestones and pearls for buttons and added bling on the dress.  My sentiment is from Together Forever.  It’s stamped in VersaFine Onyx ink on another piece of cream cut with Blueprints 13.  To add that touch of shine, I embossed that as well with clear embossing powder.  The sentiment is popped up on some dimensionals.

LOVE the subtlety of the embossing on this!

Finally, inside I cut an additional two pieces of cream card stock.  One piece was cut using the large frame from Blueprints 16.  The other was cut with the same frame, as well as the curved piece to match it up with the curve of the black.  The curved piece was then cut with Gift Card Grooves to add my gift card.  The other piece was stamped with another sentiment from Together Forever and it was also embossed with clear embossing powder.

Hope you like the card!  Thanks so much for stopping by today! Hopefully, I’ll be back to a bit more regular posting soon!

Cherry Blossoms

Happy Friday all!  It’s been a busy start to July around here.  We’ve had birthday parties out the wazoo and I’m in the midst of planning my son’s 6th birthday party.  It’s been very hot, so we’ve spent a ton of time at the pool.  Add in the time spent refereeing kids and they are full days!
I have managed to get some time in my room — I have a bunch of things to share with you.  Actually, I finally figured out an easier way to print on my computer, which means I can print my digital images again.  It came at the perfect time — just in time for Bugaboo’s Christmas in July festivities.  When I received my newsletter earlier this month, I decided it would be fun to do the challenges.  What’s even better is that I was able to complete all 7 — so you’ll see me posting each day over the next week.  It’s odd that I seem to work better with deadlines than without.
Today I have the card I made for my daughter’s teacher.  We were presenting her with a gift card, so I opted for a gift card holder.   I inked up Sweet Stamp Shop’s Cherry Blossom set for a simple and quick card.

I’ve been trying to use up some of my older paper pads — I’m sure there will be a dozen more that I’ll just have to have with CHA around the corner.  Since I was dealing with cherry blossoms, I pulled out the Basic Grey Bittersweet to match up with chocolate and rose.  Since I was making the gift card holder and needed 12 inch paper for the inside, my color choices were somewhat limited.  The front was kept very simple — the card is 4×4 — I stamped the branch of cherry blossoms and cut it out with Nesties.  I rimmed it with pearls and added in some stitched ribbon.

Inside is the gift card holder — I had found a tutorial HERE a few years ago and I really like this format.  I dressed up the inside with some more Bittersweet papers and added a sentiment from the Cherry Blossom set.

Polished to Perfection

Happy Weekend all!  Hope you are all having a great one – I think many people are on end of summer vacations.  I’m on end of summer countdown!  Can’t wait for the kids to be back in school! LOL!  My crafting time has been minimal lately, but I was able to get this card made with my new MFT goodies.  For the first time, I’m getting to play along with a guest designer challenge. 🙂

The challenge is a sketch challenge and I always love a good sketch.  I used my new Polished to Perfection a la mode.  She’s so cute!  Her skirt is paper pieced, along with her nail polish.  I cut her out and mounted her on an embossed panel of Grass Green. The patterned paper is Kaisercraft Hey Birdie, paired with the Grass Green and Autumn Rose.  Although you can’t see a lot of them, I used the Jumbo Squiggle Border for the diagonal lines.

Inside I created a pocket to include either money or a gift card for a mani or pedi.  I stamped the ala mode girl and an additional sentiment.

So glad I was able play along — now to go back and work on all of the weekly sketch challenges I’ve missed. LOL!  I’m just a bit behind!

Housework will….

Good Morning!  Today is oldie but goodie day over at Catch the Bug, so pulled out this fabulous, even while cleaning JJ.  I so definitely agree with the sentiment from the JJ Housework- Vacuum image — housework will definitely suck the life out of you!  Rarely do I use an all purple scheme and rarely do I like how it comes out — especially with my Copic purples.  But, this time, I really love how it came out.

JJ is just so glamorous — vacuuming in her stilettos, coordinating her vacuum and apron accordingly.  Can you imagine?  I don’t think it would make vacuuming any more fun — although I will never underestimate a good vacuum, living in a house with 2 cats and a dog.  I used Basic Grey Wisteria — a paper pack I HAD to have and have used it at most twice (including this time!), along with Basic Gray, Plum Pudding and Lavender Moon.

I cut JJ out with Labels 18 Nesties — I love this shape and think it is so elegant.  Perfect for a vacuum sucking the life out of you — LOL!

Inside I decided to create a pocket for a gift card. I thought this would be really cute to give someone a gift certificate for a maid service.
