Be Mine

Happy Valentine’s Day!  We’ve had a snowpocolypse here!  The kids are on their 6th snow day in 2014.  They are in the red 3 days for the mandatory school days.  The President’s Day holiday has now been retracted to make up for one snow day.  Our spring break is up next.  My kiddos were disappointed that they didn’t have school today as they were looking forward to their Valentine’s Day parties.  Hopefully, they will be made up on Tuesday.

Today I have a banner I made for my mantle.

I made a very simple banner using my heart Nesties and my Gel-a-Tins Golly Gee Big Letters.  I paper pieced the letters with My Mind’s Eye Love Me papers.  The hearts are strung on some thick cord I had hidden in my stash.

My mantle is decorated with some luminaria I created a number of years ago, some repurposed Christmas decorations and some white lights.  To make the lights more festive, I tied the cord with pink tulle.

This was the view from my front door this morning.  Although I’ve had my fill of snow, snow storms and snow days, I always love the beauty of snow on the trees the morning after.  I’m always amazed at the brilliant sunshine that follows a snow storm.  The winds have picked up a bit and mini-ice showers are happening as the trees and power lines shake off the ice and snow.  It isn’t too cold so I’m going to take my kiddos sledding.

Be Mine Valentine Banner: Gel-a-tins Golly Gee Big Letters, Recollections card stock, My Mind’s Eye Love Me

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Hi all!  A real quick post tonight.  Did anyone watch the Oscars last night?  We typically don’t get to too many movies, unless it is an animated feature, but I enjoy watching the awards.  We did see Argo and I was very happy it won.  I also enjoy the fashion, which was rather underwhelming, in my humble opinion.

My card today is one I made for a good friend who recently had a baby.  She’s a fellow crafty card maker and my husband noted that was a stumbling block for me.  LOL!   She just had her second baby and her family threw her a little shower before the birth.

One thing I discovered was I have a very small selection of baby stamps.  Probably because most of my friends are 40+ and past baby having days.  I pulled out the set of gel-a-tins letters I had purchased on clearance from Archivers a few summers ago.  The set is called golly gee big letters and golly, gee, they are quite big!  I had to make a big square card to accommodate just four letters.  I paper pieced them with Doodlebug Sugar & Spice papers, which pair up nicely with Summer Sunrise from PTI.  I added a sweet pair of feet charm to the bow.

Inside I created a pocket for the gift card we were giving her.  Very quick and simple!
