Sweet 16 of 2016

Hello!  Yes, it’s been a very long time!  I didn’t intend to take such a long absence, but it just kind of happened.  2016 was a big year for many reasons.  My family was finally able to put a plan to move into action and we moved back to my home state of Wisconsin.  It happened rather quick, even after trying to make it a reality for years.  No matter how you slice it, moving is always stressful, crazy and difficult!  We are renting an apartment so that we can take our time to find the right house in the right neighborhood.  I’ve lost my dedicated crafting space, which is a big reason you haven’t seen a lot from me.  {Four humans and a big dog in a 2 bedroom apartment can be interesting, to say the least!}  I can’t promise there will be an uptick in posts coming in 2017, but there just might be.  🙂

Before I get on to the Sweet 16, if you are looking for me and I’m not blogging, you are likely to find me more often on Instagram or my Facebook page for PRT.

Anyway, I wanted to end the year with my Sweet 16 for 2016.  Here we go, in chronological order:

JANUARY

fths-136-big-burger

I was thrilled with how this BIG burger turned out!  Coloring can be daunting sometimes!

FEBRUARY

This is counting as one of the sweet 16!  My kiddos have gerbils and these were little cards from the gerbils to their humans.  Unfortunately, we lost Sandy on Halloween.  Smokey is still with us and my daughter now has Dusty — a gerbil who looks almost the same as Sandy.

FTHS139 Hoppy Birthday take 3

My husband’s birthday card and again, I was thrilled with the coloring.

Sophisticated Script Hello

I absolutely adore the Concord & 9th Sophisticated Script alphabet set.  It is a brilliant concept and I used it a lot — I made over 100 name tags for students in the PTA Art Show with this alpha and they turned out really well.  This was such a super CAS & quick card in some of my favorite colors.

MARCH

FTHS Knit Happens

Again, coloring and a Birdbrain.  Love the rich & warm colors.

FTHS142 Keep Calm

This was super fun as well!  Homemade enamel dots!

APRIL

KG April Color Prayers

KG Hello Paris

A pair of watercolor cards for Kennedy Grace Creations.  Love the clean lines of the thoughts and prayers card and love the watercolor background for the Eiffel Tower.

MAY

MFTCC44 Ainsley Hello

This is a card of my daughter’s — she pulled it all together on her own and it’s a great card!

KGC Hydrangea Birthday

Purples are not my favorite, but this came out really spot on!

JUNE

FTHS154 Hot Chick

Flossie the Flamingo {I felt the need to name her!}

FTHS158 Cold One

Love the monochromatic grays!  I finally gave my husband this card in November!

JULY

KGC Coral Rose Love tray up top

This was part of the staging of our house to sell it.  I put this little tray in our bedroom, pulling in the colors of the room.  It was quite love-ly.

SEPTEMBER

These were tags for teacher thank you gifts and I love how they turned out.  They popped a punch and were quick & simple!

am-wedding-side-flat

My niece was married in September and this was my card for the newlyweds.  It was also my entry to the MFT Card Design Superstar contest.

orange-gold-roses

Orange is definitely not a favorite color of mine, but this turned out quite well.  Love the addition of the gold.

So there you have it!  My Sweet 16 of 2016!  I hope 2017 brings you prosperity, health, happiness and lots of crafty time!

KGC – Orange & Gold Roses

Hi all! Happy Saturday!  I’m here with a card featuring the Kennedy Grace Creations Splendid Roses stamp set.  This is such a beautiful group of roses!

orange-gold-roses

I don’t usually go for orange, but these turned out quite lovely!   Shiny gold cardstock seemed like a perfect accompaniment to the Melon Berry cardstock.   Since this is such a big focal image, it doesn’t require a lot of fussiness on a card.  I cut the gold and the roses with the largest Rectangle Frame dienamic from MFT.  It certainly makes for no fuss card fronts!  I then added a hello, which was cut with a retired Top Dog Dies die.  To add a bit of dimension, I popped it up on some fun foam, also cut with the die.  Finally, I added in some pretty translucent Moon Beams sequins.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Hope to see you again soon!

FTHS – I Believe in You!

Hi all!  Happy Wednesday!  I’m here today with a fun card featuring one of the new PigWit images from From the Heart Stamps, Harriet PigWit Take Flight.

FTHS155 I Believe in You

Harriet PigWit cracks me up!  I colored her up using Copics and cut her out with a Stitched Circle STAX die.  I paired her up with some sweet designer papers and a layering panel of Harvest Gold (PTI).  The sentiment is from the set.  To finish it off, I added pearls to her necklace and around the edge of the circle.

FTHS – From One Hot Chick…

Hi all!  Happy Wednesday!  Have you seen the freebies Faith has been providing at From the Heart Stamps recently?  They are fantastic!  Two weeks ago, she had the Hot Chick Flamingo and she’s just hilarious!

FTHS154 Hot Chick

I used the current i {heart} sketches with a tWist and did a very CAS card.  I lined up one of the sentiments from the set next to Flossie (I have no idea why, but I feel she needs a name.  So I’m naming her Flossie the Flamingo.)  My panel is cut with Blueprints 13 and she’s colored with Copics.  I then cut two Pierced Fishtail Flags STAX — the pink is actually a silk paper, which is just gorgeous!  I contemplated adding some rhinestones or bling to her feathers, but opted to keep it perfectly CAS.  Inside I added another panel with Happy Bird-day.

FTHS153 – World’s Best

Hi all!  Hope you all had a fantastic weekend and are well!  We are busy in our house with many different projects, so I’m going to keep this short.

Today starts a new sketch challenge at From the Heart Stamps.  Here’s my take on the sketch:

FTHS153 World's Best

Have you caught the freebies Faith has had in the shop on Fridays?  This was the freebie two weeks ago and it’s a great set!  I printed the coffee cup from World’s Best Coffee and cut it out with a Stitched Circle STAX die.  I then pulled some designer paper from Bazzill Lucy’s Crab Shack.  I liked the plaid since it worked well with my colors and the flip side was a list of beaches.  I thought that would work well with the world’s best monicker.  My card base is Kraft and I added in a piece of Soft Suede (SU), which I thought added in a nice masculine richness.  My circle panel is popped up on some fun foam and then I added in sequins from a newly released Kennedy Grace Creations mix, Mocha Vanilla Latte.

Hope you’ll play along with us this week!  Don’t forget, each person who participates will receive a $1.00 credit to the From the Heart Stamps store.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Hope to see you again soon!

FTHS150 & May Blog Hop

Hi all!  Sorry for the absence — I’ve had a busy week painting rooms in our house, including my pink room {it’s still pink}, but I’m still trying to put it back together.

FtHS_Blog-Hop-Infographic-720x550

Today is our May blog hop for From the Heart Stamps and our theme is Pigging Out, featuring the PigWits!

As you hop along, please leave a comment on each blog. One random commenter will be selected on each blog to win an image of choice from the FTHS store.

We are having a little twist this month! Some of our designers are adding ribbon to their projects. As you move through the hop, count up how many of the designers chose to use ribbon on their project. Email your answer to Faith: (faith@fromtheheartstamps.com) for a chance to win a $15 voucher to the FTHS store!

If you have arrived from Brenda, you are in the right place, if not why don’t you start on the From the Heart Stamps blog, so you don’t miss anything.

Here is my project, using Hamlet PigWit Being Shy.

FTHS150 PigWit Swine

I colored up Hamlet using Copics and cut him out using the largest Stitched Circle Frame die.  My layout is this week’s sketch, just on a square card vs rectangular.  I opted for a Grout Gray base so I cut an additional frame in Grout Gray.  The polka dotted papers are from American Crafts Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm.  I then added in some sequins.

Now head over to Doni and see what she has created.

Thanks for hopping with us today. The hop will end on Sunday May 8th at 6 am EST. Winners will be posted on the From the Heart Stamps Blog on Wednesday May 11th.

The Pencil Case — Red & Pink

FTHS – Stamp of the Month

Hi all!  Happy Friday!  I’m here today with a card featuring the Stamp of the Month from From the Heart Stamps.  If you haven’t participated in the SOTM challenge, here are the details.  It is a progressive challenge — if you participated in March, you will receive this image free via email.  If you hadn’t participated, you can purchase the stamp in the FTHS store.  Or, if you purchase $10 worth of images from the FTHS store, you can receive this image for free by using the code TICK-TOCK.  The challenge is open for the entire month and ends on April 30.

This month’s image is this glorious floral set called Time to Bloom.  I did another CAS card to allow this image to shine.

FTHS April Bloom

I printed my image large enough to fill the majority of my main panel.  The sentiment is also from this set and I simply added it in prior to printing.  I colored it with Copics and cut it out with Blueprints 13.  Because this is such a beautiful focal point, I added only some tiny pearls in for embellishment.  This is a really lovely set – both in images and sentiments.  Hope you’ll play along this month!

Thanks for stopping by today!  Hope to see you again soon!
