FTHS153 – World’s Best

Hi all!  Hope you all had a fantastic weekend and are well!  We are busy in our house with many different projects, so I’m going to keep this short.

Today starts a new sketch challenge at From the Heart Stamps.  Here’s my take on the sketch:

FTHS153 World's Best

Have you caught the freebies Faith has had in the shop on Fridays?  This was the freebie two weeks ago and it’s a great set!  I printed the coffee cup from World’s Best Coffee and cut it out with a Stitched Circle STAX die.  I then pulled some designer paper from Bazzill Lucy’s Crab Shack.  I liked the plaid since it worked well with my colors and the flip side was a list of beaches.  I thought that would work well with the world’s best monicker.  My card base is Kraft and I added in a piece of Soft Suede (SU), which I thought added in a nice masculine richness.  My circle panel is popped up on some fun foam and then I added in sequins from a newly released Kennedy Grace Creations mix, Mocha Vanilla Latte.

Hope you’ll play along with us this week!  Don’t forget, each person who participates will receive a $1.00 credit to the From the Heart Stamps store.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Hope to see you again soon!

FTHS#152 Hamlet Golfer

Hi all!  Happy Monday!  I’m here today with a great new sketch for I {heart} sketches and featuring one of the new Hamlet PigWits.

FTHS152 Hamlet Golfer

Hamlet PigWit in the Rough is a hilarious image and sentiment set.  Personally, I don’t golf {I’ve gone once and my divots went further than the ball!} and my husband has only gone once a year, but I find this set so hilarious.  I colored Hamlet with Copics —  I actually found my designer paper first, opting for some patterns likely to be found on golf shorts.   He’s cut out with a Zig Zag Square STAX die.  My plaid paper is cut out with Blueprints 13 and I cut three small flags in complimentary card stock colors.  I did pop Hamlet up on fun foam to give him some nice dimension.  For the golf ball, I added in a white Candy Dot.  Inside, I added an additional panel with the “Swing. Swear. Look for Ball. (Repeat)” — it really made me giggle when I read that!

Make sure you stop by the From the Heart Stamps blog to see what other inspiring works my teammates have made this week. Don’t forget, you receive a $1.00 credit to the From the Heart Stamps store just for participating {just remember, you must use a FTHS image and use either the sketch and/or the twist!}

MFTWSC231 You Amaze Me

Hi all!  A late happy TGIF! My kids have two weeks left of school and they have hit a wall.  I can tell they are pretty darn close to burnout.  Hopefully, they will make it through the last two weeks {with minimal meltdowns} and rest a bit in the days after.

I was thankful to play with the MFTWSC sketch this week.  I opted for a Father’s Day card featuring the fun Terrific Ties set and dies.  First I cut a piece of Neenah Solar White with Blueprints 13 and stamped it with the Diagonal Strips background stamp in Blueberry.  I cut ties and bowties from white as well and then stamped them with a base color of Limelight.  The stripes and dots are also in Blueberry.  I used a strip from the Horizontal Stitched Strips set for the sentiment panel and a Sentiment Strip for the sentiment itself.  Inside reads “Happy Dad’s Day.”

Beers to You

Hi all!  Happy HOT Thursday!  My kids had Field Day today at their school and they should all be good and sweaty tonight.

Today I have a card I made and I’m quite thrilled with how it turned out.  I was asked to make a pair of birthday cards last weekend and this was one of them.

One of the likes of the recipient was IPA beers.  I had contemplated getting the PTI Craft Brew stamps & dies, but decided against it.  Of course, when I received this request, I kicked myself for not getting it, but then I started going through my inventory in my head.  I pulled up the MFT Coffee Cup dies and asked my husband, the beer drinker, if I could make the coffee cup look like a pilsner glass.  He thought it was definitely plausible.

I cut my glass from Vintage Cream and then started gluing down gold sequins.  To create the foam, I used a lighter gold sequin.  The layout is from Deconstructed Sketch #201.  My inside panel is the Simply Circle background embossed in gold.  The flags are also embossed with gold.  The sentiment is computer generated.

Happy Golf Day

TGIF!!!  I am so happy it is Friday!  Hopefully, we will have a relatively dry weekend, as well as a productive weekend.

Of course, Friday means Freebie Friday at Bugaboo Stamps.  Jodie has a great collection for the upcoming Father’s Day holiday!

Now, I don’t golf, unless it’s the mini variety,  and my husband has only done it once and a blue moon.  But, this just screamed hilarious plaid pants to me.  The plaid paper is from Cosmo Cricket Social Club. I  paper pieced his pants and golf bag.  He’s going all matchy-matchy today.  LOL!  The layout is the sketch from the Crafty Hos this week.  I wanted the white Candy Dots to look like golf balls — if I could have figured out a way to emboss them, I would have!  My sentiment is from the There She Goes Holidays Galore mini set.  I used one of the new Spellbinders Ribbon Banners Nesties to cut out the sentiment.

Make sure you stop by the store to pick up your freebie and see the rest of the collection!

A Step Ladder for Father’s Day

Good Morning! I had a great time at the shoebox swap I attended on Saturday. It was so fun to meet other stampers and get some new great ideas. My room, on the other hand, is still recovering and I think it is going to be awhile before it is back to normal. This is the last week of school for my kids, so I have a bunch of teacher gifts to make, which means my room is going to be hit again. Oh, well — better to be a mess & be used than to be clean & unused.

Today I have a new card for Tuesday Morning Sketches. This week is a challenge to create a step ladder card. (A tutorial can be found HERE and a slightly different take on this card can be found HERE.) This was my first step ladder card and I have to admit that it did give me a challenge. Once I got going, it came together nicely.

Isn’t that cute? This week is sponsored by Soft Pencil, so I used the Happy Sailors image. This image worked perfectly for making a Father’s Day card from my kids. I separated the boy & girl from the sailboat image before printing. I then printed the sailboat and sun twice, along with the kids. The sailboat and sun became the main image. The kids are cut out and taped in the second fold of the card. With the second sailboat and sun, I cut out the sun’s center with a punch and popped it up on a dimensional. The sails are cut out as well and popped up. The thin panels are Barely Banana embossed with the Polka Dots embossing folder. I added in some little knots of May Arts polka dotted ribbon on each side. The sentiment is computer generated, using the same font as the Will & Grace show (Found on a free font site). I punched it out with my Word Window and matted it on Barely Banana punched out with the Modern Tag punch. When I started out with this card, I wasn’t sure how it would turn out, but I love it!

Do you want to play along? Create your own step ladder card and link it up at the Tuesday Morning Sketches blog. This week is a judged challenge, so you want to bring your A game!
