Kaboodle Doodles #67 — Tic Tac Toe

Hey all!  Happy Monday! Hope you had a nice weekend.  Can you believe we are already into the second half of May?!  Time is just flying far too quickly!

Today starts a new challenge at Kaboodle Doodles and it is a fun one!  The challenge is Tic Tac Toe.  We are sponsored by Digital Delights and up for grabs is a $10 gift certificate to their store.

Based on the above board, you need to “get” tic tac toe on your card.  You can go horizontally, vertically or diagonally.  For my card I chose digi, die-cut/punch and glitter.

I used the super cute Lili the Skunk — I’m not sure what it is about skunks, but I find them really cute in stamp form — not that I’d want to come across one personally.  LOL!  The card is a very simple layout — I chose bright yellow and orange, along with a  really fun polka dot paper from the Echo Park Summer Days stack.

If you look closely, you’ll see the glitter on his white patches.  It’s a shame such a cute face could stink so bad!

We’d love to have you play along with us.  Just link up your NEW project with your tic tac toe to the Kaboodle Doodles blog with a DIRECT LINK to your blog post (not just your blog).

Fall is in the Air

Good Morning! After my lengthy post yesterday, I want to keep things a bit shorter today! My diabetes education today involves the dangerous low blood sugar.  Both high (hyperglycemia) and low (hypoglycemia) blood sugars can be problematic, but lows are far more dangerous. Low blood sugars can come on quickly and without warning. Many people with diabetes do not feel their lows. An untreated and/or missed low can lead to coma and/or death. Although high blood sugars can be dangerous, they would need to be sustained for quite some time.
A person suffering a hypoglycemic episode may have one or more of these symptoms:
*dizziness                                       *blurry vision
*shakiness                                      *nausea
*sluggishness                                  *sweating
*hunger                                         *lightheadedness
*irritability                                      *drowsiness
*sudden behavior change                  *poor coordination
For Ainsley, she doesn’t feel her symptoms until usually quite low. Our most tell tale sign is if she asks for something to drink or eat and will insist on it until she gets it. In order to treat her lows, we give her a small juice box, which is 15g of simple carbs. The key is to use simple carbs to treat the low — complex carbs (for example, Goldfish crackers) take too long to hit the blood stream and raise the blood sugar. If she were to ever become unconscious, where we are unable to get her to eat or drink anything, we would need to give her an emergency injection of Glucagon, which is a hormone that triggers the liver to release glucose to raise the blood sugar. After giving the injection, we would need to take her to the hospital for monitoring.
On to my card for today. We are kicking off a new challenge for Kaboodle Doodles this week. We are going with a simple & fun Fall is in the Air color combo.
Our sponsor this week is Digital Delights and a $10 certificate to the store is up for grabs.
I used the adorable cat & pumpkin image, along with Chocolate Chip, Pumpkin Pie and papers from Debbie Mumm Harvest & Holidays.  The Pumpkin Pie is embossed with the Houndstooth embossing folder.  A night big bow of chocolate chip grosgrain and a few buttons finished it off.

Sorry no recipe today — I managed to combine some magic keystroke and deleted my entire first attempt at a post.  Gotta love computers!

Happy Labor Day to all of my US readers! I hope you have a labor-free day planned! Today starts a new challenge for Kaboodle Doodles. This week we have an inspiration challenge that is sponsored by Digital Delights. A $10 gift certificate to the Digital Delights site is up for grabs. Here is the inspiration photo:

I decided to pull the blues from the quilt and go from there.

I used the Bride & Groom image recently released by Digital Delights. I printed it off on Very Vanilla and colored with Copics.  Given the tails of the groom’s tux, I went with lighter grays to color. The bride’s dress isn’t colored, but I added in a bit of pale blue along seams.  At the neckline and cuffs, I added Smooch Moonlight.  I also painted her veil with Smooch.  The image is cut out with Labels 10 nesties. This particular set of Nesties was on my wish list for a long time and I finally picked them up at Hobby Lobby.  To pull in the blues, I used Enchanted Evening, Soft Sky and patterned paper from DCWV Linen Closet (also from my HL trip). I really love the elegance of this color combo.  I added in some pretty cream satin ribbon and lots of pearls.  The sentiment is from Gina K’s Tag Lines.

Congratulations!
