You Crushed It

Hi again!  Today I’m back with another card — I’m impressing myself greatly by the streak and roll I’m on HA!  My husband and I are tennis fans and have been watching a lot of the US Open this week.  I’ve been so impressed by the US ladies and Sloane Stephens was phenomenal.  A great comeback story and an incredibly talented, gracious and beautiful young woman {her smile can light up Arthur Ashe!}.

So my coloring today was inspired by her win in the US Open final.

Ala Sloane

I pulled out an old Ala Mode from MFT Stamps, I’ve Met My Match.  I decided to try Kathy Rac’s watercoloring with Distress Inks.   I’ve watercolored with dye inks before, but never really thought to use them on a people image.   I had to blend quite a few colors to get to the tones I wanted, but I’m pretty happy with this.  The sketch is the current Tuesday Morning Sketch sketch (#419).  I added a sentiment from MFT’s Soda Pop set.

MFT Card Design Superstar

Hi all!  Sorry for the long absence!  Lots of adulting going on and not a lot of crafting!  However, I did carve out a bit of time the other day to create a wedding card for my niece and thought it would be a great way to have a card to enter into the MFT Card Design Superstar contest.

I pulled out a lot of my favorite MFT products to create this card.  I started by cutting a piece of Black Licorice card stock, which I then scored and further cut with Blueprints 16.  Then I cut an additional piece of Black Licorice with little flap die from Blueprints 16. This was then glued down, creating my pocket card.   I then used my MISTI to stamp the Lace Background with Versamark ink and embossed it with clear embossing powder.  To build onto the card, I cut the largest Circle Stitched Frame die with cream card stock, as well as the pieces of the Bride & Groom.

While I had my Lace Background stamp in the MISTI, I also stamped my wedding dress and embossed it as well with clear embossing powder.  I positioned my circle frame to be just above the curve.  The tuxedo and dress were glued down, adding in some rhinestones and pearls for buttons and added bling on the dress.  My sentiment is from Together Forever.  It’s stamped in VersaFine Onyx ink on another piece of cream cut with Blueprints 13.  To add that touch of shine, I embossed that as well with clear embossing powder.  The sentiment is popped up on some dimensionals.

LOVE the subtlety of the embossing on this!

Finally, inside I cut an additional two pieces of cream card stock.  One piece was cut using the large frame from Blueprints 16.  The other was cut with the same frame, as well as the curved piece to match it up with the curve of the black.  The curved piece was then cut with Gift Card Grooves to add my gift card.  The other piece was stamped with another sentiment from Together Forever and it was also embossed with clear embossing powder.

Hope you like the card!  Thanks so much for stopping by today! Hopefully, I’ll be back to a bit more regular posting soon!

KGC – Just a Rose

Hi all!  Welcome to the August release & blog hop for Kennedy Grace Creations!
For my cards, I used the Just a Rose stamp set.  Believe it or not, I used the same embossing powder on each card.  It’s WOW! Florida Sunset embossing powder and it is so gorgeous!  My mind was blown when I did the black card and had a completely different result! I kept my cards really simple, allowing for the roses to pop.  On the first card, I embossed the sentiment with clear embossing powder over VersaFine Onyx ink.  I added in sequins from Hollywood Glam and Moonbeams.

For my second card, I went with a big sophistication factor.  I used a gold card base and allowed the black & gold panel to pop.  The sentiment is from Grace’s Happy Heart.  The sequins are from Mocha Vanilla Latte.

FTHS #158 – Cold One

Hi all!  Happy Monday!  My kiddos are officially on their first full week of summer vacation.  We had company last week and are now looking to find our summer rhythm.

There’s a new sketch at From the Heart Stamps today.  This sketch challenge will be open until July 17, as the design team goes on summer break from July 1-17.

FTHS158 Cold One

For my card, I used Hamlet PigWit Cold Suds.  I chose the beer & ice bucket image and added one of the many sentiments from the set underneath.  The card came together really easily and turned out to be a fantastic masculine & monotone card.  I happened to find a really great piece of 6×6 paper that worked well with grays and added Grout Gray for a background panel and gray Perler bead enamel dots.

FTHS156 – You Rock!

Hi all! Happy Monday! My kids have their last full week of school here and there is still a LOT going on!  As I’ve mentioned, we have been DIY’ing our kitchen renovation.  There’s a sneak peak in my photo below and we are sooooo close to being done, but I won’t consider it done, until 100% is done.  I made this card for my husband for when we reach that 100% mark.

FTHS156 You Rock

As you can imagine, a DIY kitchen renovation brings chaos to the entire house.  It also tends to squash any creative MOJO.  For my card this week, I went with just a sentiment — this one from the Hamlet PigWit Cold Suds set.  I printed it off and cut it with a Zig Zag Stitched STAX Square die and popped it up with fun foam on the back.  To compliment the DIY home improvement theme, I pulled papers from KaiserCraft (sorry, can’t remember which set) and cut out this great nuts & bolts paper with Blueprints 13.  I used Stitched Scallop Edges to cut three bold & bright pieces of cardstock to compliment the paper.  To finish it off, I pulled out two screw brads and snipped the legs off — I really do not like brads.  Mainly because I never remember to poke the legs through prior to adhering my papers.  So I typically snip the legs and use a glue dot to glue them down.  Now, as long as I can FIND the card when we are done, I’ll be all set!  LOL!

FTHS – June Blog Hop

Hi all!  Welcome to our From the Heart Stamps blog hop. We have a fun and unique hop for you this month. Every image is new and each designer got to chose what they would like for a special image and Faith designed them. How fun is that??!!!

As you hop along, please leave a comment on each blog. One random commenter will be selected on each blog to win the featured image on that blog.

In addition to the images offered on each blog, one very lucky hopper will be able to work with Faith to create an idea for a specially made image. When you comment on the FTHS blog, please say what kind of image you would like if you win the chance.

If you have arrived from Brenda, you are in the right place, if not why don’t you start on the From the Heart Stamps blog, so you don’t miss anything.

Here is my project, using the brand spankin’ new, Happy Travels Birdbrain.

FTHS Happy Traveler June

Oh.my.gosh!  You have no idea how much I love this image!  This was my request to Faith — I traveled quite a bit while in college.   This set is jam packed with fantastic sentiments and images.  I kept my Birdbrain fairly large so that it could be the focal point.  I added two additional sentiments to the top and then printed.  The panel is cut with Blueprints 13.  I then colored my Birdbrain with Copics – I really love coloring the birdbrains in grays.  I added some Glossy Accents to her eyes and some pearl ellipse to my sentiments, connecting them as one thought. The panel is popped up on fun foam for some overall dimension.

Now head over to Doni and see what she has created.

Thanks for hopping with us today. The hop will end on Sunday June 12th at 6 am EST. Winners will be posted on the From the Heart Stamps Blog on Wednesday June 15th.

City Crafter Challenge GDT – Congratulations

Hi all!  Happy Tuesday! I’m guest designing today for the City Crafter Challenge blog.  The challenge this week is to Whitewash — use something other than white card stock or paper on your card.

City Crafter KG Congrats

For my whitewashing, I opted to do white embossing.  I stamped this beautiful flower image from Kennedy Grace Creations Grace’s Happy Heart in VersaMark and embossed it in white.  It came out perfectly!  I wanted to do something dramatic for the color and decided on black, white & red.  My image was cut with a Stitched Circle Frame die. I used the same die to cut Pure Poppy card stock for the frame.  I paired this up with some polka dotted designer paper.  Additionally, I cut a group of Pierced Fishtail Flags STAX in each paper used on the card.  Again, I stamped a sentiment from the same set in VersaMark on the black and embossed it in white.  Finally, I added in a nice red bow and some sequin trios from the Blackbird sequin mix, also from Kennedy Grace Creations.

City Crafter Congrats Close Up

Hope you’ll get the chance to play along with City Crafter Challenge this week!  I’d like to thank them for having me!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Hope to see you again soon!
