CTD379 Pink Paris

Hi all!  Happy Friday!  When I saw the current Color Throwdown challenge, I knew what I wanted to do.  First, here’s the swatch for this week.

CTD379 Swatch

And here’s my card…

If it appears that this is curving in, your eyes are not deceiving you.  My watercolor paper warped a lot and a night under my die bin didn’t help flatten it as I’d hoped.  But I love how it turned out!  I used my SAI watercolor markers to simply color a beautiful pink sky.  I then cut Paris out of Curious Metallic Gold Leaf.  I adhered the completed scene to a card base of Gold Leaf as well.  I stamped a sentiment from Tickled Pink in VersaFine Onyx and embossed it with clear embossing powder {This is my new fave way to do sentiments!!!}  Keeping it simple, I just added in a few sequins.

CTD378 Ooh La La…Fabulous

Hi all!  Happy Saturday & Super Bowl weekend!  Today is my husband’s birthday.  He asked to have uninterrupted time to work on the plumbing to our kitchen sink, which is no longer there.  LOL!  We are one week without a kitchen sink and absolutely no counter. Friday nights are pizza night in our house and we usually make homemade.  It’s a tad difficult to roll out pizza dough with no counter. LOL!  The kids and I are watching Grease (the original) and making things in my craft room.  Staying out of his hair!

I have a card today for the current Color Throwdown challenge, paired with the current Freshly Made Sketch.  It features an image from The Greeting Farm that I colored on one of the last The Daily Marker 30 Day challenges.

I was pretty excited to see this work with the current Color Throwdown!  That doesn’t happen often.  She’s colored with Copics and cut out with a Pierced Rectangle STAX die.  Of course, my background panel is cut with Blueprints 13.  I used a Sentiment Strip die to cut two flags, one in Pure Poppy and the other a scrap of pink.  Since the strips were the same size, I cut my red one in half to make it appear larger.  Worked perfectly!  I popped my pink strip over the image.  Both sentiments are from MFT.  {WTG Parisian Girl & Tickled Pink} Both are stamped in VersaFine Onyx ink and embossed with clear embossing powder.

CTD376 Butterfly Friends

Hi all! I’m here again, squeaking in with a card for the current Color Throwdown challenge.  It ends tonight at 6, so I’m getting in just under the wire.

The color combo is aqua, pink, kraft and white.  It’s a combo that is right up my alley, but I had a block.  Finally, I came up with an idea today.  I used some SAI watercolor markers to color up a piece of watercolor paper randomly and then cut out a pair of gorgeous butterflies.  I cut a piece of Neenah Solar White with Blueprints 13 and then stamped a sentiment from Tickled Pink in VersaFine and embossed it with clear embossing powder.  I added that panel to a Kraft card base and then added my butterflies, pulling their wings up a touch from the card.  Some sequins finished it off!  LOVE these butterflies!

CTD375 Happy Birthday

Hi all!  Happy Friday!  I’ve had some good crafting time this week and was able to play with the current Color Throwdown challenge.

Can I just say, I absolutely LOVE this die!  This is Butterfly Gown Girl – a Gina Marie Design die.  It’s such a beautiful die!  I cut it first from Basic Grey (SU) and then cut the skirt primarily from scraps of Orange Zest, New Leaf and Harvest Gold (all PTI).  I glued my girl down to a panel of Neenah Solar White {cut with Blueprints 13, of course} and then added in the butterflies to the openings.  The sentiment is from MFT You’re the Sweetest and I stamped it in VersaFine Onyx and embossed it with clear embossing powder.  I added three free-flying butterflies from the leftovers and voila!
