2014 Year in Review

Happy New Year’s Eve!  I decided last minute to do a 2014 Year in Review post.  The tale end of 2014 was quite craft heavy for me.  It started in September with cards for consignment.  October was Hope You Can Cling To on SCS.  Additionally, I was teaching a class at my kiddos’ school.  I then went directly into preparations for a holiday fair.  I also met my goal of completing all of the MFT Weekly Sketch Challenges for 2014. WHEW!!

Without further ado, my favorite projects of 2014.  Grab a cup of tea, coffee or a glass of champagne and take a peek at my faves.  I hope you see something to inspire you!  Thanks for taking the time to stop by!  My best wishes for a happy & healthy 2015!!

Warm Winter Wishes

Hi all!  Happy Tuesday!  My kids had a snow day yesterday.  We got probably close to 8″ in heavy, wet snow.  The kind of snow that leaves you longing for a snowblower.  Tonight we are supposed to get more snow and have freezing rain/sleet muck tomorrow.  Our district has now used up all of the snow days (at least I presume they have since 3 is the typical number) and I’m betting tomorrow will be a minimum of a late start.  Mother Nature is causing all sorts of havoc!

I wanted to make something today, but needed to be doing other things as well, so I went into my colored image stash.  I pulled out this sweet By Lori Designs image, found a great sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches and voila….

I love this sweet little guy with his teddy.  My kids love being out in the snow and do a pretty good job of bundling up to do so.  Yesterday, they actually made their first snowman.  I loved the simplicity of the sketch and paired Kraft with Spring Rain and Bo Bunny Powder Mountain papers.  Simple and quick!

LOVEFEST2013C Happy Birthday

Happy Wednesday!  I have been on a roll!  Last night, instead of retiring to our family room to watch TV, my husband and I watched from my craft room.  I was able to create two cards!  I’m loving the LOVE FEST challenges at SCS.  I’ve completed 5 of the 7 so far!  Expect things to be busy around here for a while — at least until my MOJO disappears LOL!

The Stamping Bella sponsored challenge is to Bring on the Bling.

For my card, I pulled out this sweet By Lori Designs image I had colored up.  I used super fun and sweet papers from Echo Park’s Summer Days — and matched that with Sweet Mango (Gina K) and Hawaiian Shores (PTI) cardstock.  When I went searching for a sketch for this card, as I often do, I came upon a new sketch challenge blog called I {heart} sketches.  I love sketches and this was a great one.  There are lots of layers and lots of papers on this card.  For the three hearts, I replaced them with balloons in a sweet bunch.  For my bling, I added rhinestones to the centers of her bows and to the center of the present bow.  In addition, there is a trio of rhinestones on the image panel.    I think it turned out really sweet!

My Favorite Things – 2012 Part 1

Good Morning! As we approach the New Year, I decided to pull up my favorites for 2012.  I must admit, my pickings weren’t as plentiful as I had in the past, but I think I still managed to find a few cute things.  🙂  Today I have January through June.

January
This was for the Bugaboo Stamps birthday celebration and it is one of my favorite Bugaboo images.  It is just perfect for kid birthday cards.
February
Not only do I love how this card turned out, but it had so much meaning behind it.  I had my bilateral mastectomy in February and found out later that month that the cancer was gone.  Definitely a HUGE happening in 2012 for me!

March
This was my first project following my surgery.  It was so great to be back in my room and crafting.  I also love all of the pinks and dots.  Plus, who doesn’t love Stella?

April
I have two for April — I just couldn’t pick.

First is this adorable card using a By Lori Designs image.  I just really love the colors in this card and the sweet image.

Second, is this great pencil vase I made for my daughter’s teacher.  This was an upcycled tin can with pencils glued around it.  It was such a great way to give her a gift of flowers.

May
Again, I have two.

First, was the card I made for my radiation crew.  I finished radiation in May, which was the end of my cancer treatments — active treatments, not the surgery road.  This was a sentiment from Create with TLC, which was just perfect for them.

Second was a trio of cards for the There She Goes Mother of All Blog Hops.  I really love the Blessings set, especially the sentiments.
June

Hands down, my favorite from June was my invitation for my 40th birthday party.  It was also one of the big events in 2012 for me.  We had a fabulous party with lots of sweets.  It was such a great day!

Sugar & Spice Happy Birthday

Hi all!  Happy Tuesday!  I found a little bit of mojo this morning and was able to get a few things done in my craft room.  One of the cards I was able to make was a sweet birthday card for the current By Lori Designs Challenge.

I recently purchased the new Doodlebug papers and these designer papers come from the sugar & spice pack.  I absolutely love these papers.  So springy, girly and fun!  The current challenge at BLD is a sketch, so I followed it pretty much to the tee, using a Martha Stewart punch for the border.

Winter Landon

Good Morning!  As I type this Monday night, we are bracing yet another winter storm.  Unfortunately, this storm is likely to bring ice, much harder to deal with than snow.  I have to admit, winter is annoying me at this point – far more snow than we know what to deal with.  With the exception of the first week of January, every other week had either a snow day or 2 hour late start for the kids.  What is February going to bring?!

Anywho, today I have a card for the second By Lori Designs Challenge.  It is another color challenge and very cute.

I went with Winter Landon, who looks like he is completely prepared for winter!  I colored Landon, using each of the challenge colors.  Then I used the current Sweet Stop sketch for the layout. I paired Chocolate Chip, Kraft and red polka dots from Kaisercraft Christmas Carnival.  This color combo was really fun and perfect for a little boy!

Pastel Winter Hannah

Hi all!  Happy Sunday!  A real quick post.  I spent a nice chunk of time in my room this morning getting a few design team cards done.  Last week I was lucky enough to win two digis from Claudia & Company with the opening of the new store.  One of my choices was the oh-so-adorable Winter Hannah with Snow Flakes.  She reminds me of Ainsley with her braids.  So I wanted to participate in the first By LORi Designs Challenge, which is a color challenge this week.

Totally my colors!

Isn’t she just a cutie?!  Not only do the braids remind me of Ainsley, this is totally an Ainsley outfit! I had to sneak a bit of the olive in there with her striped tights.  I used the sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches and paired it up with Spring Rain and Innocent Pink, as well as DCWV paper.  I needed some sparkle on there so I added a strip of pink grosgrain and then some blue & green rhinestones on each strip.  Finally a rhinestone on the pink snowflake, some Stickles on her hat and a clear snowflake with a rhinestone center.
