TD04 A Bookworm’s Bookmarks

Good Morning! Today is the 7th, which means a new Tiffany Doodles challenge. Here is your chance to win up to 7 Tiffany Doodles images!

This month we have a color challenge for you. It’s a great soft palette of pale pink, pale green and cream.

I decided to go with something other than a card and make a bookmark. I’ve seen many corner bookmarks and finally decided to give them a try.  You can find the SCS tutorial here.

Isn’t that little worm adorable? When I was looking through my images, this little Wormy Worm reminded me immediately of my bookworm bookends my mom made me when I was a kid. I printed her off on Very Vanilla, adding in “Keep on Reading” in Word and colored her with Copics. Then I cut her out using a Labels 7 die. These dies have always reminded me of an open book. Before removing the die, I sponged a bit of Memento Angel Wings and New Sprout around the edges. A trio of pearls to her antennae and bow were perfect.

For the bookmark itself, I used Certainly Celery and PaperTrey Ink’s Sweet Blush. I embossed the Sweet Blush with Swiss Dots. The border punch is Martha Stewart Doily Lace. I added in two pretty ribbons — one wide pale pink and a narrow cream.

In addition, to our challenge, Tiffany Doodles is also sponsoring the Caardvarks challenge this month. It is a sketch challenge with two sketches available. The one sketch reminded me of a traditional bookmark, so I used an additional Wormy Worm I had printed to make another.

She’s colored with the same colors, but I added in a perfect plaid piece of Basic Grey Two Scoops to go with the Sweet Blush and Certainly Celery. I used double sided satin May Arts ribbon to create the pattern on the end. Pearls and a Sweet Blush button finished it off nicely.  This little cutie is sitting in front of my adorable bookends, which will be going to my daughter soon.  On the inside of each end, my mom carved “to our little bookworm, keep on reading” before painting them.  For the love my daughter and son have for stories, I’m sure they will both be bookworms too.
