Happy Birthday – Rainbow Style

RBW_participant

Hi all!  I signed up for the Online Card Class – Rainbow Maker because, well, rainbows!  I had expected to be in my craft room ahead of the class, but as it turns out, I was unpacking when the class started.  I’m still unpacking and organizing, but really needed to get the creativity flowing again.  Rainbows will definitely assist in that!

Rainbow Maker Stenciled Birthday

I used a retired stencil from MFT Stamps and Distress Inks to blend my rainbow.  I wanted it to be rather clean and simple, allowing the rainbow to shine.  The sentiment is from Handwritten in Watercolor from MFT.  I stamped the sentiment in VersaFine Onyx and embossed it with clear embossing powder.  I added in a rainbow of sequins to finish it off.

Hopefully, this will be a good kick start to my creative mojo and I’ll have more to show you!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Hope to see you again soon!

FTHS #167 Birthday Brew

Hi all!  I have a super CAS, masculine birthday card today.  It follows the latest I {heart} Sketches with a tWist and definitely follows the tWist!

FTHS167 Beer Mug

The tWist is Easy Does It and I definitely did it easy or clean and simple.  I colored my Birthday Brew with a combination of Copics and Zigs.  This was my second attempt at coloring this image — my first attempt ended badly when my silver Wink of Stella vomited all over the image.  HMPH!  So I colored it up again and cut it out with a Pierced Rectangle STAX die.  I opted to keep it very CAS to facilitate mailing.

FTHS #161 – Bird on a Wire

Hi all!  We are back with a sketch challenge at From the Heart Stamps.  I’m going to keep this very brief as I’m a bit under the weather.  All details, including a few changes to the challenges, are listed on the From the Heart blog.

fths161-birds-on-wire

I attempted to get everything in here!  I rotated the diagonal panel and made it straight across.  I attempted to get all of the colors in there {plus a few more to boot in the designer paper} and substituted cupcakes for birthday cake.

Thanks for popping by!

Sweet 16 of 2016

Hello!  Yes, it’s been a very long time!  I didn’t intend to take such a long absence, but it just kind of happened.  2016 was a big year for many reasons.  My family was finally able to put a plan to move into action and we moved back to my home state of Wisconsin.  It happened rather quick, even after trying to make it a reality for years.  No matter how you slice it, moving is always stressful, crazy and difficult!  We are renting an apartment so that we can take our time to find the right house in the right neighborhood.  I’ve lost my dedicated crafting space, which is a big reason you haven’t seen a lot from me.  {Four humans and a big dog in a 2 bedroom apartment can be interesting, to say the least!}  I can’t promise there will be an uptick in posts coming in 2017, but there just might be.  🙂

Before I get on to the Sweet 16, if you are looking for me and I’m not blogging, you are likely to find me more often on Instagram or my Facebook page for PRT.

Anyway, I wanted to end the year with my Sweet 16 for 2016.  Here we go, in chronological order:

JANUARY

fths-136-big-burger

I was thrilled with how this BIG burger turned out!  Coloring can be daunting sometimes!

FEBRUARY

This is counting as one of the sweet 16!  My kiddos have gerbils and these were little cards from the gerbils to their humans.  Unfortunately, we lost Sandy on Halloween.  Smokey is still with us and my daughter now has Dusty — a gerbil who looks almost the same as Sandy.

FTHS139 Hoppy Birthday take 3

My husband’s birthday card and again, I was thrilled with the coloring.

Sophisticated Script Hello

I absolutely adore the Concord & 9th Sophisticated Script alphabet set.  It is a brilliant concept and I used it a lot — I made over 100 name tags for students in the PTA Art Show with this alpha and they turned out really well.  This was such a super CAS & quick card in some of my favorite colors.

MARCH

FTHS Knit Happens

Again, coloring and a Birdbrain.  Love the rich & warm colors.

FTHS142 Keep Calm

This was super fun as well!  Homemade enamel dots!

APRIL

KG April Color Prayers

KG Hello Paris

A pair of watercolor cards for Kennedy Grace Creations.  Love the clean lines of the thoughts and prayers card and love the watercolor background for the Eiffel Tower.

MAY

MFTCC44 Ainsley Hello

This is a card of my daughter’s — she pulled it all together on her own and it’s a great card!

KGC Hydrangea Birthday

Purples are not my favorite, but this came out really spot on!

JUNE

FTHS154 Hot Chick

Flossie the Flamingo {I felt the need to name her!}

FTHS158 Cold One

Love the monochromatic grays!  I finally gave my husband this card in November!

JULY

KGC Coral Rose Love tray up top

This was part of the staging of our house to sell it.  I put this little tray in our bedroom, pulling in the colors of the room.  It was quite love-ly.

SEPTEMBER

These were tags for teacher thank you gifts and I love how they turned out.  They popped a punch and were quick & simple!

am-wedding-side-flat

My niece was married in September and this was my card for the newlyweds.  It was also my entry to the MFT Card Design Superstar contest.

orange-gold-roses

Orange is definitely not a favorite color of mine, but this turned out quite well.  Love the addition of the gold.

So there you have it!  My Sweet 16 of 2016!  I hope 2017 brings you prosperity, health, happiness and lots of crafty time!

KGC – Just a Rose

Hi all!  Welcome to the August release & blog hop for Kennedy Grace Creations!
For my cards, I used the Just a Rose stamp set.  Believe it or not, I used the same embossing powder on each card.  It’s WOW! Florida Sunset embossing powder and it is so gorgeous!  My mind was blown when I did the black card and had a completely different result! I kept my cards really simple, allowing for the roses to pop.  On the first card, I embossed the sentiment with clear embossing powder over VersaFine Onyx ink.  I added in sequins from Hollywood Glam and Moonbeams.

KGC HBD Aug Rose
KGC Congratulations Aug Rose
For my second card, I went with a big sophistication factor.  I used a gold card base and allowed the black & gold panel to pop.  The sentiment is from Grace’s Happy Heart.  The sequins are from Mocha Vanilla Latte.

FTHS August Blog Hop

Welcome to our From the Heart Stamps blog hop. We have a “Use Your Stash” Theme this month. Our designers are showcasing lots of gorgeous projects.

As you hop along, please leave a comment on each blog. One random commenter will be selected on each blog to win an image of choice from the FTHS store. And one lucky commentator on the FTHS blog has the chance to win a $ 15 voucher.

If you have arrived from Brenda, you are in the right place, if not why don’t you start on the From the Heart Stamps blog, so you don’t miss anything.

Here is my project, using Hang Loose Birdbrain and from my stash I used the following Stickles (in a color other than clear) and Glitter Dots.  My craft room was recently relocated & downsized so things are a bit crazy in the craft room.   It’s amazing what I have in my stash.  Stickles in so many colors and I primarily use the clear.  The Glitter Dots were a very favorite embellishment for a while — I loved adding the sparkle with a relatively low profile and no mess of actual glitter!

FTHS160 Aug Blog Surfboard Stash

I used the surfboard from the Hang Loose Birdbrain set.  I love that Faith does Birdbrain with the board, without the board and the board alone.  I colored it up using some tropical colors and cut it out with an MFT die.  I pulled some designer papers (also a stash — a ridiculous stash!) and cut it out with an MFT Pierced Fishtail Flags STAX die.  It’s matted on a piece of yellow card stock (sorry, can’t remember what color) cut with Blueprints 13, of course.  The sentiment is from an MFT set.

Now head over to Doni and see what she has created.

Thanks for hopping with us today. The hop will end on Sunday Aug 7th at 6 am EST. Winners will be posted on the From the Heart Stamps Blog on Wednesday Aug 10th.

FTHS – From One Hot Chick…

Hi all!  Happy Wednesday!  Have you seen the freebies Faith has been providing at From the Heart Stamps recently?  They are fantastic!  Two weeks ago, she had the Hot Chick Flamingo and she’s just hilarious!

FTHS154 Hot Chick

I used the current i {heart} sketches with a tWist and did a very CAS card.  I lined up one of the sentiments from the set next to Flossie (I have no idea why, but I feel she needs a name.  So I’m naming her Flossie the Flamingo.)  My panel is cut with Blueprints 13 and she’s colored with Copics.  I then cut two Pierced Fishtail Flags STAX — the pink is actually a silk paper, which is just gorgeous!  I contemplated adding some rhinestones or bling to her feathers, but opted to keep it perfectly CAS.  Inside I added another panel with Happy Bird-day.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Hope to see you again soon!
