FTHS #129 Hoppy Birthday

Happy Monday!  Hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving!  Did you do Black Friday shopping?  I think just about every stamp company had a sale and I resisted, barely!  It was so tempting to buy lots and lots of goodies!

A new sketch challenge starts at From the Heart Stamps/ I {heart} Sketches.

I had a lot of fun with this one!  I used the Birthday Brew stamp, which is perfect for the beer connoisseur in your life!  I opted to create a beer bottle tag instead of a card.  I colored up my beer mug with Copics and cut it out with a Pierced Rectangle STAX die.   I then cut out the Hoppy Birthday sentiment with a Pierced Fishtail Flags STAX, doubling up and making it a flag end on each side.  My bottle tag is cut from Soft Suede, an old SU color that has been neglected for a long time.  I was going to get rid of it and I’m glad I kept it.  I added my image panel and popped up the sentiment.  Then I added some Liquid Appliqué (also been sitting around for a long time!) to the beer foam and heated it up with my heat gun.   So fun!  Oh, and I should mention, that is sitting on the neck of my favorite beer, Totally Naked from New Glarus Brewing in Wisconsin.  They only sell in Wisconsin and do not “export” to any other state.  I brought back two six packs this summer and have been nursing them through football season!

The tWist for this week’s sketch is to use heat embossing.  Since I used my heat tool to warm up the liquid appliqué, I think this qualifies for both.  Hope you’ll get the chance to play along with us this week.  I’ll be back on Friday with our December blog hop!  (HOW are we in December this week?!)
