MFT Summer School – Rule of Thirds & Line

Hi all!  I’m squeaking in with two cards today for the MFT Summer School lessons.

First up, is my card for the Rule of Thirds lesson, which was the first lesson.

I started with a Grout Gray card base and a panel of Neenah Solar White cut with Blueprints 13.  I cut a rainbow from the traditional rainbow colors and a pair of clouds.  I added sequins to my clouds.  After piecing my rainbow together and gluing it down, I popped up my glitzy clouds at each end.  The sentiment is from the Ala Mode set of the same name.

To see how I decided upon my card layout, here’s my rainbow on my grid of thirds.

Next up is my card for the line lesson.  I’ve been playing with my cover plates quite a bit lately and decided I wanted to create my lines in the Hugs & Kisses cover up plate.

So I cut my Hugs & Kisses cover up plate four times — Neenah Solar White, Razzle Berry, Pink Lemonade and Bubblegum.  When I cut it with the white, I was fortunate that most of the x & o stayed in the die cut.  I taped up the back side with scotch tape over the rows I wanted to keep (and replaced any x & o that fell out).  Then I added in rows of pink.  I stamped “miss you” from the Written in Watercolor set in Razzle Berry twice with my MISTI for a nice crisp sentiment.  It sits within a Stitched Circle Frame of Razzle Berry.  To finish it off, I added in sequins in all of the o centers in a complimentary color.
