MFTWSC218 Rad Birthday Wishes

Hi all!  Happy Monday!  Can you hear the cheering?  That would be NJ cheering the arrival of spring like weather!  It’s a brilliantly sunny day and the temps are in the 40s.  We should be there almost all week, I believe, which should help in melting away some of the snow banks.  This morning, I had to do the garbage cans in the road/poorly parked cars due to snow and beware of oncoming traffic slalom to get my kids to school.  I am just as happy as so many others to hopefully have wider streets, clearer sidewalks {I’ve considered sticking notes on doors at homes where they fail to clear their sidewalk well.} and a few less layers to wear.

Have you heard about The Daily Marker 30 day coloring challenge?  Today is day 6, I believe, and the challenge is simple — color something every day.  Check out Kathy’s blog for more info!  I hadn’t been coloring as much of late and this has been a great kick to getting back to coloring.  I’ve been doing so at night when I’m watching TV with the hubby — it also helps to keep my hands busy and not snacking!

Today’s card features an image I colored on Friday for the challenge and uses the current MFTWSC sketch.  I’ve always loved the ala modes from MFT and was sad to see them be retired, but I think I have almost all of them in my stash.

I’m an ’80s child (I was a teen, not born then.) and I love the ’80s Girl ala mode.  Even with all of our ridiculous fashions, it was such a great time to grow up!  I colored up my girl in a fun fuchsia and turquoise combo — the 80s were so vibrant for clothes!  For her boombox, I went soft green — I seem to remember a line of radios that were pastel in colors.  Anyone else remember that?  The card base is Melon Mambo with Turquoise Sea (Gina K) stamped up with the Cheetah Background stamp in Tropical Teal and cut with Blueprints 13.  I deviated a bit from the sketch.  First, I flipped it to accommodate my image. Then,  I didn’t have a die to accomplish the point down, so  I used the flag from Blueprints 13 to cut out my ALM.  My 80s Girl is the straight line on the panel and I changed up the circle to a rounded rectangle {also Blueprints 13} for the sentiment.  I finished it off with some sequins and rhinestones.
