MFTCC #13 – Happy Birthday

Happy Friday everyone!  Winter has definitely set in here in NJ.  I had to laugh because I’ve seen a few people post on Facebook “of course it’s cold, it’s January”  — this has always been a pet peeve of mine when people complain of winter temps or snow in the winter.  Especially those who live in a northern state.

Anyway, I opted to do the current MFT color challenge yesterday.  Prior to the holidays, I picked up the Quilt Square cover-up with the intention of doing a special project with it, but never made it.  I fished it out to use on the color challenge, which is a great way to tackle a color challenge, if you overthink them, like me.

The Quilt Square saved me so much time, even though you do need a bit of time to arrange your pieces!  The current color challenge is Lemon Drop, Tropical Teal, Limelight and Persimmon.  Fortunately, I picked up some of the new card stock colors from MFT, but I didn’t have the Persimmon so I substituted Orange Fizz.  Such a vibrant color combo!  I cut each color with the die and once in white.  I glued down my frame and then set my colors out, glued them down and stamped my sentiment. Voila!  Better yet is that I can make an additional 4 cards with the leftover bits.

  1. Sweet card! The colors work so well together used with this Quilt Square cover-up. And I so get what you mean about those of us living in the more northern climates…deal with it, right!?! Really like this card. Bev

  2. I saw your card over on the MFT color challenge board and came over to take a closer look. I was going to join your page anyway, but when I saw you were a fellow Packer Fan, there was no doubt in my mind I had to link up with your blog! I'm a WI native, living in the Carolinas. My heart is always in WI and with our fav football team! btw, LOVE your card! lol

  3. The quilt seems like the perfect thing for these cold temps! Very pretty. 🙂

I used to live in Indiana, and one day I was shoveling my driveway in the deep of winter. I remarked to my neighbor about how cold it was, and he responded, “It's winter.” HA! He (and you) have a point!
