HYCCT1420 MFTWSC199 Smashed Birthday Wishes

Hi all!  Happy Monday!  I can’t believe it is the last week of October.  Time just flies by at breakneck speed! We had a full weekend of home improvement projects, pumpkin picking, Halloween parties, etc!  In between loads of laundry and coats of paint, I made attempts to get caught up on HYCCT challenges.  I’d been procrastinating some that were a bit more challenging, but I’m glad to be only 4 behind now (including today).

So onto my card for today — again, I combined a challenge with the current MFTWSC sketch.  Now, this sketch would be so much easier if I had the Square Grid Cover Up.   It’s one of those dies I thought wouldn’t be necessary.  I can create that effect with a punch or cut squares.  Well, I miss the grid!

The HYCCT1420 challenge is “Get Smooshed” — of course, you get what that means.  The technique was the Smash technique.  I used two pieces of glossy paper and inked up the one with Sno Cone, Blu Raspberry and Pink Lemonade (my only reinkers!)  {Side note: did you know that reinkers is auto-corrected to reindeer?}  You use more of the lightest color and the least of the darkest.  Then you press the other sheet of glossy paper down onto the inked sheet.  After applying pressure, you remove it, let it dry and you get a beautiful background.

I cut my 1 inch squares and then added a big pearly flourish that had been taking up residence in my embellishment drawer for far too long.  My sentiment ended up being a bit wavy due to the pearls underneath, however I like the effect.

Challenge Submissions

Smashed Birthday Wishes: MFT Pink Lemonade cardstock, Sentiment Strips dies, ALM Birthday Girl, Pink Lemonade, Sno Cone, Blu Raspberry reinkers; PTI Stamper’s Select, Glossy Paper,  MME embellishment

Thanks so much for stopping by today!
