PTI Stamp-a-faire 2013

Hi all!  Long time, no blog!  It seems to be the norm lately!  However, I have a packed post for you tonight — yesterday I got together with my good friend, Michele, and we had some quality “mommy only” time, while taking part in the PaperTrey Ink Stamp-a-Faire festivities.

We weren’t able to start bright and early due to other commitments, so we opted for an early afternoon start.

Opening Ceremony and Bake & Take

Since we were starting in the afternoon, we were able to start off with a little different of nibbles — some cheese and prosciutto, accompanied by a beer & wine.  I love how my card turned out — a great masculine birthday card!

My color choices:

Tea Staining Technique

We chose to use Kool-Aid for staining our ribbon.  I had Grape, Strawberry & Orange on hand.  This was the result from the Grape — a really lovely aubergine color.  It was interesting to see how different textures of ribbon reacted differently and did or did not absorb the colors.

Rolled Dough Designs

This was a super fun technique!  I rolled my clay with the doily and then stamped the snowflake from Tiny Treats: Christmas in the center.  After allowing it to air dry, I hand cut it and punched a hole with the Crop-a-dile.  Good thing to note — the clay is fragile when pulling ribbon through.

Mixing Mists to Match
This is my favorite card of the day!  I sprayed white cardstock with the misters, overlapping only a bit in the middle.  Then I punched out three stars.  I popped them up on dimensionals and added a trail of Stickles.  A simple sentiment of make a wish from Mega Mixed Messages finished it off.

Closing Ceremony
Michele & I had a blast stamping together and learning new techniques.  It was some much needed “mommy only” time, which turned into a great family night for our families.  Hopefully, next year, I can complete more of the challenges.
