Guten Tag and Buon Appetito!

Happy Thursday all!  I have to admit that I cannot believe we are approaching the middle of July already!  We are fast approaching our family vacation to Wisconsin to visit family.  I’m so looking forward to it — last year I had just been diagnosed with breast cancer and for most of my family, they didn’t see me during treatment and could only go on what they heard as to how I was doing.  So I’ll be glad to be home and see everyone.  I’m also really glad for the little streak I’ve been on in my craft room.  It is so good to be getting back to a normal pattern lately!

Anywho, speaking of travel, I have two cards featuring The Paper Shelter images, which will take us from Germany to Italy.  LOL!  If only our cards could actually, physically, transport us to a different place.

A fact most people don’t know is that I majored in German in college. It’s hard to believe that it has been twenty years this month since I left for southern Germany and Vienna & Graz Austria during my junior year.  When I was in Germany, I studied at the Goethe Institute in Prien am Chiemsee, about an hour southeast from Munich by train.  Of course, Munich and the state of Bavaria are known for Oktoberfest.  The Cute Bavarian image from TPS reminded me so much of my time there.

I chose to use the colors of the Bavarian flag as my inspiration on this card.  This sweet little girl would fit right in at Oktoberfest with a beer stein in her other hand.  The papers are from Echo Park’s Country Drive.  They couple wonderfully with Cool Caribbean and Blue Raspberry from Gina K.  I didn’t have any embellishments that matched the color scheme, so I colored some white pearls and Candy Dots with a Copic.  The sentiment is one I just printed from Word.

On to Italy — The Trattoria Chef could come and cook at my house any time.  LOL!  I printed papers from the Trattoria Chef paper pack and went with the same layout as my German card, unknowingly.  The apron and chef’s hat were also paper pieced with the deeper red checked paper.  The sentiment is again computer generated.  Inside I added another piece of the checked paper, but left it open at the top — I think this would be a great spot to stick a gift card to a favorite Italian restaurant.
