ME! Yup, today is my birthday and a milestone one. Today is my 40th birthday and after having spent much of my 39th year battling breast cancer (and winning!), I am very happy to say good riddance to my 30s.
We are actually celebrating with a party in about two weeks. I chose to do a “Sweet Soiree” — sweets and champagne/wine. I made the invitations, using the My Favorite Things a la mode — Cheers, which was perfect.
My design was a z-fold card. The black base is an onyx metallic and the pink is a beautiful raspberry shade. I chose to go with a lighter weight on the raspberry and I’m so glad I did. As it ended up, this invite was very pricey to mail — $1.10 per invitation. Thankfully, I was able to hand deliver many of them. Anyway, the lovely damask patterned paper is from Michaels and is transparent. As we are having the party at a friend’s house and sitters at our house for the kids, I separated all of the info onto two pages. Each of the pages has a champagne glass, cut out using MFT Let’s Toast dies. Each glass is cut from Doodlebug sugar paper that I’ve had around since my son was born.
The front panel has the a la mode girl, who I gave a fab paper pieced dress. Her glass has “bubbly” from a Viva Decor glitter pen. She’s matted on big scallop oval nesties and a fishtail flag from MFT. Finishing it off were two trios of tiny rhinestones from Recollections.
I have to say I was THRILLED with how the invitations came out. It’s going to be a great party!
