You Totally Rock & Blog Candy

**Make sure you read all the way to the end of post.**

Good Morning!  Today is the “anniversary” of my daughter Ainsley’s diagnosis with Type 1 Diabetes.  It has been 4 years and it is still a day that brings a slew of emotions for me.  We usually don’t mark the day with any acknowledgment, but this year we are.  Since starting school last fall, Ainsley has many times cried that she doesn’t want diabetes and wants to be like her friends.  She doesn’t like being taken out of class to go to the nurse multiple times a day to receive her insulin bolus for food or blood sugar corrections (she wears a pump, but this may only be done by the nurse, even though the aide would be perfectly capable of it).  She has even attempted to cover up her pump by pulling her shirt over it because she didn’t want anyone to ask her about it.  It’s heartbreaking to see how this upsets her.  So today we are going to celebrate her and how she “totally rocks” while dealing with all of the crap that goes along with diabetes care.  We are also celebrating my son Carter being potty trained (finally).  We are going to go into NYC and go to the big Toys ‘R US located by Times Square.  They have a big ferris wheel in there and Ainsley has wanted to go on it for months now.

Oh, and another shameless plug — this weekend is the Gap “Give & Get” sale — you can get 30% off your entire purchase at Gap, Old Navy & Banana Republic, plus you can elect to have 5% of your purchase donated to JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation).  A coupon code is required — HERE is a link to an in-store coupon.  The event goes through Sunday March 20.

On to the other official business today…LOL!
We have a new challenge over at Catch the Bug for you today and we are challenging you to make a project for a baby or child.  You have a chance to win up to 7 free digis from Bugaboo Stamps (top prize only to a participant who uses Bugaboo on their card/project).

I made this card for Ainsley.  I used the image that Jodie so generously drew for me of Ainsley — you can see her pump pouch there on the right.  This was her first day of school outfit, but in pink.  She’ll love these colors too.  The papers are Gina K Lovely Lavender and Turquoise Sea, paired with Basic Grey Kioshi and Kaisercraft Konstrukt.  The layout is the sketch from Flutterby Wednesday (I missed the butterfly, fairy or angel requirement — although it does have an angel — Ainsley :))

We’d love to have you play along — just link up your NEW project to the Catch the Bug blog with a DIRECT LINK to your post (not just a link to you blog).

Now, before you go!! I have some blog candy — in celebration of my kiddos, my new blog, lots of new followers and having my etsy shop set up (I just have to actually put cards in there LOL!).

Diabetes is a horrible disease for an adult, but for a child….whoa. My prayers are with all of us who have to deal with disease or loves someone who does and that a cure is on its way. I have been following you for a short time now and I'm glad I found you. God bless.
