Absolutely Fabulous Birthday Wishes

Good Morning! Happy Saturday!  This post is doing double duty today.  First, it is time for a new challenge at Catch the Bug today.  This week we are challenging you to use scallops on your card, so get out your nesties, punches and dies.  Upload your new project to the Catch the Bug blog for a chance to win up to 7 digis from the Bugaboo Stamps store.  Keep in mind that only projects featuring a Bugaboo Stamps image will be considered for the top prize.  In addition, we ask you to link directly to the post, not just your blog and please consider turning off word verification for commenting ease.

Second, today starts a celebratory “It’s my Birthday” blog hop in honor of Jennifer’s birthday.  Jennifer is the creator of the awesome phone app that features card designers and their cards.  The app is available for both iPhone/iTouch/iPad devices and Android based phones.  Just search for Crafty Card Gallery.  You can also find a fan page on Facebook!

Please note — the hop doesn’t start until 7 AM PST/10 AM EST, but since my post is doing double duty, it is up early.
If you are hopping along and arrived here via Giselle’s blog, you are on the right path.  If you are just popping by, you may want to start at the beginning (Jennifer’s blog) and follow along.  There will be lots of inspiration, ideas and likely some blog candy along the way.

With the business out of the way, on to my card for today.  I’m trying to get a selection of cards made up for a friend who is interested in buying some cards (note to self: get Etsy store set up!) and I know birthday cards will be at the top of her list, so I pulled out Dottie cupcake.

Dottie is so sassy and I love how this turned out.  She’s ultra-sassy in her hot pink dress and black patent leather boots (courtesy of Glossy Accents).  I embossed Raspberry Fizz with the Cuttlebug Polka Dots folder and added in a punched black border with some Raspberry Fizz Mix polka dotted paper.  (I have to say I wish PTI would go back to 6×6 paper packs.  The patterns in their 8x8s are just too big for cards, IMO.)  Of course, Dottie needs bling, so I added in glittery black ribbon, rhinestones and some rhinestone earrings.  The sentiment is from PTI’s Mixed Messages (the original).   Absolutely Fabulous Birthday wishes coming your way Jennifer!

Now, your next stop on the hop is with Ashley at The Glamorous Side of Scrapping.
