Sweets for My Sweet

Happy Friday all!  I have about 10 minutes to get this typed and then out the door to pick up my husband.  Tomorrow is our 6th anniversary.  We always do our gifts according to the anniversary gift chart or whatever you’d like to call that — the little list you’d find in those old little pocket calenders from Hallmark.  You know the one that says for the 1st anniversary you should give paper.  For the 6th anniversary, the traditional gift is candy or iron and the modern is wood.  Since we both have a sweet tooth, candy was a no brainer.

One of the sponsors of my Blog Candy for a Cause is My Favorite Things.  The MFT Lady — Kim herself — responded almost immediately, donating a $25 gift certificate to the store.  It is included in the second prize package.  I broke out my I Want Candy set, which is so appropriate for our anniversary this year.

I wanted to keep the card simple.  It definitely isn’t very masculine, but it is sweet.  I used the hard candy stamp and colored them up with some really fun colors.  The papers are Lavender Moon from PTI, Ocean Mist from Gina K and Pretty in Pink from SU.  I added a little rhinestone to each center and a Nestie label tag with one of the sentiments from the set with some May Arts ribbon.

Of course, for our gift, we went with the candy.  One of our first dates was around the NYU campus and we came upon a candy store.  We both love gummi candy and bought some gummi octopi. The octopi are fun for feeding each other — I know, how sickeningly sweet.  LOL!  We actually used them as the favor for our wedding — we wanted something edible and cheap.  So they went into a nice black box, with a pretty purple bow and the table name for the person.

Of course, I had to go with gummi candy for a gift.  I made up a simple 6x6x3 box.  The bottom is cardstock and the top is this fun candy theme paper.  I cut out the center and put in an acetate window.  The bottom two layers are octopi — I cut cardstock and taped acetate on each to prevent sticking.  I found these great gummi letters, which were perfect to spell out I Love You in that little window.  I think my husband will love it!
