Cool in the Pool

Good Morning! I hope you had an enjoyable weekend. We took in the Central Park Zoo yesterday and it was HOT! I think the polar bears and seals had the best seats in the house. The polar bear was just doing laps in his pool.

Today I have a fun card featuring one of the Summertime Peekers from Bugaboo Stamps. These little ones are so stinkin’ cute!

I used the swimming pool kiddo and colored him up with Copics. I think the orange and yellow are such a fun combo — perfect for the summer. This matched up perfectly with Basic Grey Lime Rickey, Only Orange and Lemon Drop (Gina K). When I saw the latest Card Patterns Sketch, I knew it would be a great fit.

Funny thing — I have steered very clear of the sewing trend. I don’t like to sew — I have a machine, but don’t do it well. I decided to give it a try on this card, feeling that the 4 squares of dp would be perfect for this. I practiced on a bit of scrap paper and it went okay. So I moved on to my card papers. I successfully sewed around the edge, but when I went to sew the “t”, something went very wrong. My needle & thread jammed up, knotting and completely ripping my papers. I was not happy. Later I went back to the card and tried it again (on scrap paper) once more. I’m not sure what happened but the needle and thread were jamming again –to the point of the light on the machine flickering! Needless to say I don’t think I’ll be sewing anything anytime soon! LOL!

So my card is without sewing, but I love the outcome anyway. I added in Orange Zest and Lemon Tart buttons and as a final touch, Glossy Accents to the pool water and to the mask.
