First up is Melissa’s sketch for us all.
Next up my card. When I visited the store, I knew the image I was using as soon as I saw the ’80s Kaylee.
Isn’t she, just totally awesome?! When I chose my colors, I was thinking of the hot pink 1984 sweatshirt (yes, it said 1984), checked pants and turquoise suspenders I had back in the day. It was quite the look! Still, I love those colors so I chose Bermuda Bay and Raspberry Fizz. I colored Kaylee up with Copics, giving her some awesome hot pink leg warmers and mismatched star earrings. She has a few highlights of pink in her hair, which are additionally highlighted with glitter. To work in the sketch elements, I cut out a large Labels 8 (2nd largest) of white and then wrote a border of Valley Girl speak. Now, I have to say this was the hardest part of this card. It wasn’t difficult to come up with the sayings, but my handwriting was difficult to keep neat around the edge of that label. The Raspberry Fizz panel is embossed with the new Seeing Spots Cuttlebug folder and the Bermuda Bay is embossed with Polka Dots.
Inside I added an additional layer of embossed Raspberry Fizz with another Labels 8 panel. I printed off a birthday sentiment in Valley Girl speak and added in a few Glitter Dots to finish it off.
It’s like…totally ’80s!
