A Birthday Alternative

Happy Monday! Can you believe we are in the second half of May? This month is going incredibly fast, along with the rest of 2010. We had a beautiful day yesterday at the Botanical Gardens. I was pleasantly surprised to find the rose garden open. On our last trip in May 2008, it wasn’t open. Due to our wacky weather this year, the roses were already starting to open and it was gorgeous! We are planning a return trip in a few weeks to see them in full bloom.

Today I have the second Stella birthday card I made. This one will go to my aunt who turns 50 in July. She can be um, quite cranky, so I think this will fit!

I love the sentiment on this one and hope this gets a big laugh when my aunt receives it. Bugaboo is sponsoring the challenge over at Moving Along with the Times and it is a sketch challenge this week. You have until Wednesday May 19th @ 8PM to enter, which gives you a chance to win 7 free digis from Bugaboo!

Anywho — Stella is colored with Copics in another of my fave combos — red, black & white. I cut Stella out with a Labels 3 Nestie and the sentiment with a Labels 8 Nestie. The sentiment didn’t pop enough for me, so I traced around the embossed edge with my R46 Copic to highlight it. The patterned paper is a combo of Lush by My Minds Eye (smaller piece) and Making Memories Black Tie. It worked out nicely with the complimentary patterns. I added in a big bow of saddle stitched red grosgrain from Michaels, some glitter on the balloons and Glossy Accents to Stella’s glasses (after the glitter this time around!).
