Cupcake Boy Birthday Wishes

One more card down for my fundraiser cards. And, boy, did I struggle with this one. Probably because it is a boy card!

This is another Wee One from the Birthday collection at Bugaboo Stamps. Cupcake boy was colored with Copics and cut out with Nesties. I rarely pick my papers before coloring and this was an issue this time around. After doing the blues on the cupcake papers, I found that it didn’t work with my selection of blues. I was really frustrated by this. Then, I finally found the dp — from the DCWV adhesive mat stack. I was still left trying to find the right blue to go with this. Finally, I found one half of a piece of Night of Navy and I liked the combo. Finally, I added in Kraft, which I always forget about. The result was a nice boyish combo!

The layout is this week’s Crazy 4 Challenge’s sketch. I embossed the strips of navy with the Tiny Bubbles embossing folder. I love how this looks with the dp! When I colored up the image, I envisioned this as a scoop of ice cream instead of a cupcake, so for the whip cream, I used Liquid Applique for a fun effect. A sentiment from the PaperTrey Ink Simple Little Things anniversary set on a Nestie label tag completed the card. I think this would make a great card for a little boy’s birthday.
